(Note: The Tech Guy Radio Show ended its run December 18, 2022. But all the gadgets and gizmos Dick showed over the years are archived below gadgets I showed or talked about on Ask The Tech Guys.)
Below are the gadgets we’ve talked about on the show.
Fire & Water! It’s A Combination That Actually Works Well!
(Left in photo) The Fufeisi 400ML Flame Diffuser Humidifier is a clever idea. It uses LED’s and the mist from the humidifier to make a wonderful flame effect. You can also use it as a Essential Oil Diffuser. I got a chuckle out of what the company says about it: “The soft warm light of the Flame Air Diffuser makes it looks like a fireplace, but the fine cool mist of the humidifier will makes you feel cold. The difference of visual and sensory will give you a novel experience.” A display screen on the side shows the time and there’s an alarm, but no there’s no mention of a ‘snooze’ function. The remote has flame settings, timer settings, but has to be aimed directly at the display window to work on the unit I bought. It holds 400ML, (about 13.5 oz of water) which is almost twice as much as many other units. It’s very quiet as it work so it shouldn’t disturb you while you sleep. On 12/3/22 it was $29.99 on Amazon. ($26.99 w/Prime)
One Flame Diffuser Wasn’t Enough!
(Device on right in photo above.) So I also bought a smaller one without remote control & clock. Ready? It’s the Chanhyer 240ml Essential Oil Diffuser Aromatherapy Diffuser Cold Mist Simulation Flame lamp Effect Spray Humidifier. Since it holds just 240 ML it’s a smaller footprint, but it also has a wonderful flame effect. It too will go off when the water runs out and can be set for 2 or 4 hours before it goes off. It has a high/low flame setting but I couldn’t tell the difference between them. All the controls are on the unit itself and if the bright orange logo on the side seems too bright, you can just face that side toward the wall. On 12/3/22 it was $22.99.

You Can Never Have Enough Disco Lights! (Even in 2022)
On a recent Giz Wiz Show, my co-host Chad Johnson found another disco light. I’ve bought every one of them that he showed and when I first saw these I thought, “Oh, I already have a couple of disco lights like that.” Then Chad explained that the ones he bought, the Luditek [2-Pack] Portable Party Lights had new features. They have a sound-activated mode + they can be battery operated, or powered by 5V USB. The disco ball light is mixed with multicolor.(red, green, blue, red/green, red/blue, green/blue, and all the colors together. Well, before Chad finished his demo which you’ll see on this week’s show, I had ordered a pair. (Kind of like the way it happens sometimes on The Tech Guy. Either Mikah or Leo, or both, buy my gadget of the week while I’m still talking about it!) These LED disco lights are great! Since you can powered them via 3 AA batteries, it’s easy to use them any place, even bring them to a party. And Amazon adds: You can put this led stage lighting on your desk, or use suction cup to hold it on the wall or ceiling. I’ve yet to find a way to reveal the hidden suction cup in the base, but that’s okay. The adjustable stands work just fine! They were under $20 as of 11/18/22. (Back in the 70’s when I had a disco on my 50′ houseboat, lighting like this would be about $1,000!)

Hate The End of Daylight Savings Time?
Here’s Inexpensive Help for Those Dreading the End of Daylight Savings Time!
I’m one of those people affected by SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder, or as I call it, Sad And Depressed with the shorter hours of light. I found a wonderful solution at Five Below, the store where a lot of the gadgets are roughly $5. Just from looking at the picture on the box, I bought the Sunset Projection Lamp. It was $5.55. Here’s the Five Below description:
“Give your room a cool glow! This lamp projects an orange sunset onto your wall for cool lighting & room decor. Perfect for a bedroom, dorm, gaming battlestation, or lounge spot!” I love this lamp & have it on for many hours a day. It’s USB powered (for indoor use only) so you can plug it into a computer, an external battery charger, or use it with a USB to AC plug converter. Only the USB cable is provided, but it’s long & has the on/off switch. But still, for $5.55, I think this is great!

BUT WAIT, THERE’S MORE!
If you want a projection lamp with more features, but to my eye, one that is a bit dimmer, here’s an Amazon Version with Remote Control, Smartphone App. I also bought this and I do like that it has a wide range of colors and it easy to control from your phone once you pair the device. It also offers fades and flashes and can even be synced to music which is pretty neat. I paid $13, but it’s been as low as $10.50. Prices on Amazon can change several times a day!

It Seems Like A Dumb Gadget, But People Seem To Love It!
Eat Snacks While You Work & Still Keep Your Screen or Keyboard Clean.
I’ve seen these called ‘finger chopstix’ or ‘finger tongs’. And what are they for? When using your mobile phone, computer or tablet, you can eat potato chips, Cheetos or other oily snacks without contaminating your hands. Keeping your hands clean keeps your keyboard and screens clean, or at least cleaner. They easy to use. Just insert the index finger and middle finger into the rounded opening, so that the tongs are placed above the fingers. That lets you control them too hold food without getting your fingers messy. I’ve used them a few things and the learning curve is about one minute to get the hang of using them. And they’re inexpensive, and available in colors. I bought two sets from different vendors with different names, but both sets seem to be exactly the same. The best deal I got was 8 of them for about $8.00, but prices on Amazon can change at any time!
