Bug Mosquitos Before They Bug You!

Don’t worry, you don’t actually don’t see vapor rising from this device.

Dennis & love our backyard, but so do the mosquitos. However, this past week I found this Buggy Bands portable mosquito repellent device works great. It creates a protective 20 ft zone effective against common mosquitoes. It’s quiet and the company says it kid and pet friendly. It doesn’t bother our dog, Charlie. It uses natural plant-based refills (lemongrass / citronella), which are really inexpensive. Refills are 4/$9.99. The built-in lithium battery offers about 4–5 hours on a full charge. For extended or overnight protection, simply plug in via USB-C. There’s also a mini night light feature. Price seems to move back and forth between $29.99 and $33.99. That includes the unit, 2 refills, carry strap and a USB-C charging cable.

I hated the Shoe Lights I bought at Five Below because you have to take them apart to take out the paper battery spacer. Doing that was not an easy task. On on Amazon I found the Cosoos rechargeable shoe lights. Both LED lights can be recharged at the same time with the single included USB-C cable. These are bright, and weigh just 1 oz. With an over 90 degree pivoting head light, you can direct the light where you need it. I think these are good for running shoes, bikes, scooters, dog collar, etc. 100 lumens. Two styles, one with a single LED and one with dual LEDS. Check the Amazon photos to see the two different shapes. They were just $4.49 on Amazon on 6/12/26. There’s another version on the same page for $3.69 with a single LED.

As you’ll see in Chad’s demo on this week’s show, it’s not only claimed to be the World’s Smallest Tool Kit, it really doesn’t contain a lot of tools. It does contain: a Phillips and Flathead Screwdriver, a 39” Tape Measure in a tiny tool box. It did very well in the ratings, and many in the chatroom liked it. Chad liked it, but questioned including a bottle opener in each of the screwdriver handles. He said the handles are already tiny, so cutting away a portion of the handle to add a bottle opener makes using them a bit harder. It was $9.99 as of 6/12/26 on Amazon.

The exhibit, Art of Noise, is an exhibit of hundreds of gadgets that produce noise, mainly gadgets that produce noise you like to listen to. So it’s more than a hundred years of radios, phonos, turntables, cassette players, etc. The exhibit is open through mid-July and there’s another great exihbit at the Cooper Hewitt Museum in NYC too.
