The Giz Wiz #2098, Recorded Thursday June 25, 2026
Meet The Very Bright 3-Way LED Headband!
Here’s a great way to light the dark for hiking, jogging, dog walking, etc. There are seven lighting modes: flood light high, flood light low, spot light high, spot light low, red light, red strobe, and you can long press the on/off button to switch to white light strobe mode. A feature I like is motion sensor. You can wave your hand to easily control the headlight on and off which it will do in whatever mode you’re in. Info from the company: The COB wide beam floodlight provides a 230° wide angle illumination. The ultra-bright LED beads on the side allow the head light to be used as a spotlight to illuminate a distance of nearly 300 feet. And they were really inexpensive. I purchased a box of 3 units for about $21.00, or just $7.00 each!

The Giz Wiz Buys A Car Cam — but he doesn’t own a car!
I’ll explain why I bought one, but first here’s some info on the Faninso V5 car camera.
It’s equipped with a 7-inch touchscreen and has 1296p (2304×1296) Full HD Night Vision. It
allows you to monitor your baby in high definition, day or night. Or view anything else behind the driver’s seat where you mount the included camera. It also supports CarPlay and Android Auto, enabling easy switching between maps, calls, and music. It ships with a 12V cigarette lighter plug, AUX audio cable, suction cup mount for the dash, and strap mount for the camera. I like this system a lot, but as you’ll see on this week’s show, I didn’t buy it to use in a car, or to monitor a child. (I have it set up to monitor my front door and local traffic passing outside my apartment. And it works great!) The system was $45.88 on Amazon on 6/25/26, but that may have been a Prime Day Deal.

It’s Was Another “What The Heck Is It?” Gadget
The WTHII on this week’s show turned out to be the Skyoyo Digital Voice
Recorder. It’s small enough to fit Chad’s Miniature theme, but I don’t like the way it works. Turning it on, automatically puts it in record, and shutting it off saves your recording. You use the included headphone controller to switch between play/pause/previous/next track. Watch this week’s show to see how the Amazon listing and even the box copy about this device is incorrect. There’s even a photo of a totally different device included on the Amazon page. Finally, my unit already had a recording on it, so I assume it came used. It’s going back for a refund. I paid $19.99 on Amazon.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad’s new Cheap Gadget Theme for June, as voted on by our loyal Patreons is:
Miniature Gadgets!
Chad’s final Minature gadget is the Mini Desktop Boxing Kit. Chad said, it’s a way to get rid
of your stress. Don’t take out your stress on your coworkers, take it out on this mini punching bag! Box includes: A mini desktop punching bag with suction cup base, two tiny boxing gloves for your pointer fingers and a mini book with basic finger boxing moves and boxing trivia. Chad liked this fun mini gift, but wished the suction cup was stronger. It was too easy to send the boxing bag flying even though it is mounted on a spring. Still, everyone in chat had a good laugh watching Chad play with this desktop boxing kit. It’s inexpensive too, just $6.82 as of 6/26/26 on Amazon.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
Our email this week is from a long time fan Jeff, and his son, Adam.
They write: Good Evening Gentlemen,
I hope you and the audience enjoys this old meets new double video. The first item helps people with old tech continue to enjoy vintage radios. The other item is something that I always wanted. It came in two versions an 8-track and a cassette tape version. It was a way to teach children math and reading as well as trivia, but I am using it to play podcasts and audiobooks. I am including both the Amazon and EBay listings.
Enjoy, Jeff and Adam

Letter of the week: Hey Dick and Chad,
Hearing Chad’s theme of miniature things made me think of these tools from the 60s.
https://www.samstoybox.com/toys/Powermite.html
These were working power tools, only in miniature. They came with a case which you put batteries in and you plugged the tool into the case. They also sold a workbench which you could plug the tools in. There was a circular saw, a jigsaw, drill, and a router. They could cut balsa and styrofoam, which they included along with plans for building things. They were made by Ideal.
I don’t have any oft these or I would have made a video.
