Danny New & I Chat About Some Of The More Offbeat Gadgets That Were Shown At CES 2024!

Here’s a TV like none other I’ve ever seen!

What may look like a piece of sculpture is the C SEED N1 4K TV, with five panels that unfold silently in about next 25 seconds to create a monumental 137 inch Micro-LED display. It can rotate right or left up to 180 degrees. The indoor model costs around $200,000. And yes, there’s an outdoor model too that raises up to 7+ feet! It’s said to be about $240,000. But, those prices include setup and installation. They make many other models too. Check out the video on their website.

It’s a Windows 11 Laptop & An Android Tablet!

The Lenovo ThinkBook Plus Gen 5 Hybrid laptop houses two computers, so you can separate them and run them both at the same time. They also each have their own rechargeable battery. Tablet performs as a full-feature Android tablet on its own when it’s detached, but you can also continue to use the Windows laptop base; just connect it to an external monitor. The laptop base runs Windows 11 and has an Intel Core Ultra 7 processor, 32GB of RAM, and a 1TB SSD. The tablet runs Android 13 on a Snapdragon 8+ gen 1 SoC, along with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of UFS 3.1 storage. The price is expected to be $1999.99 and it should be available around May/June of this year.

Lenovo also showed a concept version of an animated color E Ink outer lid for laptops. It certainly would get attention at a meeting or a conference, but ‘Concept’ means ‘we now know we can do it, but will customers want it enough to buy it?’ Reaction to an E-ink laptop cover at CES may determine the answer to question.

There Were Lots of Robots At CES 2024

Among the interesting robots was the Samsung Ballie.

This is robot was 1st introduced at CES 2020, but now its back and it’s been improved to do a lot more. Samsung has made it more like an AI assistant who can control smart devices, turn lights on and even follow your pet and send you updates on what it’s doing. And it has a built in video projector can help you or entertain you by projecting images and videos on walls or even the ceiling. According to Samsung, Ballie is designed to navigate the home to complete various tasks. In addition to sending video updates of pets or family members to mobile devices when away from home, it play music and answer phone calls. I asked about price and availability and was told neither has been set yet.

Old Tech Is New Again!

Clicks got a lot of attention at CES. It may seem like going backwards to want a physical keyboard instead a virtual one. As you’ll see on this week’s show, the Clicks keyboard case can add “up to 50%” more display. That’s the amount of space that can be used by the virtual keyboard. Check the photo from the show. Chad was very impressed with this gadget.

In the photo, the gray phone has the virtual keyboard which is blocking a lot of the screen real estate. With the yellow Clicks external keypad, you can see a lot of more of the screen. There’s a backlight for when you’re typing at night or in a dim room. The keyboard features many shortcuts which you’ll learn about on this week’s show.

It is on the pricey side. It’s available in February for the iPhone 14 Pro & 15 Pro for $139. And in March for the iPhone 15 Pro Max for $159.
