And What Was The Dumb What The Heck Is It? Gadget.
It was the KitchenIQ Veggie Slicer
I bought it just to use as the What The Heck Is It? gadget because it looks so weird.
Here’s what the company says it’s good for: Safer Food Prep: With its nonslip base and hold, this tube-like veggie and fruit slicer keeps small, round produce from slipping around while you slice it. This gadget is an ideal cherry tomato slicer; great for cutting grapes and olives too and works with most standard knives (not included).
Consistent and Fast: This round veggie slicer is a simple, professional way to manually slice perfect, salad-sized veggie portions with ease and speed. Adjustable and Dishwasher Safe: There are two sizes; The one that the insert provides is for smaller produce, and the one that removing the insert creates holds larger items; The slicer can hold up to 5 average cherry tomatoes or grapes. Dimensions: 6”L x 2.75”H x 2.25”W; Opening: 0.8”W or 1.4”W.

Anker’s Low-Profile 6-Port Power Strip with ‘Pop-up’ Outlets!
The Anker 727 100 Watt Charging Station is a 6-Port Power Strip with 2 USB-C ports, 2 USB-A ports, and 2 AC outlets allow you to charge 6 devices at the same time. With a maximum output of 100W, charge virtually any device including phones, tablets, and more. A MacBook Pro 16″ can be charged to 50% in 43 minutes. Slim and Space-Saving: At only 0.7 inches thick, the power strip is about the size of an iPhone 13 Pro Max and although Anker says it can fit comfortably in your palm or pocket, it should be a BIG pocket. The unit itself weighed 9.8 oz on my scale, but it also needs the power cable to work, so I’d say it’s more a backpack travel device. ActiveShield 2.0 enhances protection by intelligently monitoring temperature and adjusting power output to safeguard your connected devices. 24-month warranty ($25,000 connected equipment warranty) MSRP $94.99. (There was a 20% off coupon on Amazon on 10/29/22, but that could disappear at any time!)
And this is an important note from Anker! The Anker 727 is not a wireless pad/portable battery.

Meet What Xplora Calls: “Kid’s First Smart Watch.”
The company says they designed the Xplora 3X and 5X for kids from 4 to 11 years of age. At the Pepcom Holiday Spectacular, a spokesman gave me a little demo of two watches which you can see at the link below. Here’s some info from the company: The X5 Play Xplora is a premium kids smartwatch where you can stay in contact and get rewarded for being active! The watch does not feature social media and can not receive any unsolicited calls. All the contacts are managed by the parents in the app. However there can be up to 50 approved phone contacts. GPS Location tracking, safe zones and school-mode, which disables the interactive features whilst in class, are other features included on the device! The X5 Play comes bundled with an Xplora Connect SIM card. $169.99 $149.99.
The Xplora XGO3 smartwatch for kids is a perfect introduction to the digital world and comes with all the key features of the X5. From talking to the spokesperson it seems the X3 does have the camera and video features of the X5. Prices range from $129.99 to $149.99.
The watches seem to be attractively priced and what I thought was really amazing is that they say their monthly plans for unlimited text and calls ranges from $8 to $12.

Snap Circuits Make Learning How To Make A House Green, A Snap!
I got to see a demo on this device at Day of Play, an event all about new toys & games.
Snap Circuits is a fun way to learn basic engineering, electronics and circuitry concepts. Kids use building components with snaps to assemble electronic circuits on a simple “rows-and-columns” base grid. The resulting projects function like the printed circuit board found in most electronic products. Each Snap Circuits part is easily identifiable by a different color and purpose, and each kit includes an easy-to-follow project manual. The
The Snap Circuits Green Energy kit in the photo above and in the video on this week’s show has won 2022 Specialty Toy of the Year! The Green Energy Kit parts include the base grid, snap and jumper wires, battery, solar cell, liquid holder and electrodes, meter, motor, wind fan, water wheel, geared motor and crank arm, switches, LED’s, capacitor, and all other parts. Kids can even built a little electric car! The color-coded and detailed instruction sheets provide step-by-step directions on each project, making learning both easy and fun. Snap Circuits brand has been endorsed by K-12 educators globally and used in schools, libraries, museums, afterschool and homeschool programs, STEM and Maker programs, and at home.
