AMAZING! With this show we start year 18 of The Giz Wiz Show!
The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006! If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. RGB Keyboards R Us at Gizneyland
You’ll hear the whole story on this week’s show, but if you need a smaller keyboard to give you extra desk or shelf mouse room, take a look at a Tenkeyless keyboard. There are lots of them on Amazon. I bought the Redragon K552 RGB Premium Mechanical Compact Backlit Gaming Keyboard and Redragon Programmable RGB Gaming Mouse combo. I originally bought a 60% keyboard which is even smaller, but after two months I got tired of having to use the function key in conjunction with so many other keys. The Tenkeyless keyboard is basically a normal keyboard minus the number pad. Mine is a 87 key keyboard with custom mechanical blue switches. It has back lighting that is a little confusing to set up, but once you find what you like, it’s great. The RGB Backlit Gaming Mouse is user adjustable up to 7200 DPI. The ratings on Amazon and the price of the keyboard were very good. I paid a bit under $50 w/ the mouse combo.

A Final Chad CES 2023 Extra!
Chad’s final CES 2023 gadget is the Circular Smart Ring. The company says their goal is to develop and create a multi-feature wearable ring to improve physical and mental performances of their users through unique and intelligent recommendations. The long-term goal is to provide the ultimate accessory that will be essential to the way we sleep, live and work. — Okay, got that? It’s not shipping till May and the cost on the website was listed as $284.00. As you’ll hear from the spokesperson, the ring is said to gather a lot of info about your body as you wear it. Chad says he likes a device that can collect much more personal data while you’re actually working out, rather than give you continuous general health biofeedback. I do remember one advantage of the Cicular Smart Ring is that there is no monthly fee, as there is with another popular smart ring. If this might be of interest, you might be able to judge better after watching this week’s show and visiting the company website.

A Quickie WTHII!
Spoiler Alert: Don’t read this if you want to guess what the gadget is before we reveal it on the show.
Okay, the weird shelf like gadget is a device for the bathroom designed to hold any of those mega-rolls of toilet paper. It’s on Amazon and is from the Zoyotago store. It’s just called Toilet Paper Holder with Shelf. The shelf on top is a great place to put your phone while you’re doing whatever in the bathroom, or maybe watch & ring while you’re showering. It has raised edges so things won’t slide off. The rod for hanging toilet paper rolls is 5.3 inches long. There’s an inward bend at the end to prevent the roll from slipping off, but if you pull the paper off to the side, I found it can easily slide off. I just put a spring loaded clip on the end and that solved the problem. Chad liked this a lot since you don’t have to deal with those crappy spring loaded rods that seem hard to reseat once a big roll of toilet paper is on it. Actually those mega rolls which are now sold everywhere, are too big to fit the built-in toilet paper holders in my bathroom, so this device is great! It’s inexpensive too. I paid about $12.00. It was only available in gray, but now I see they offer it in black too.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad’s Crappy Corner and his new theme for February as picked by our loyal Patreon friends is “Fire Gadgets”.
And Chad’s final Fire gadget is the RAPICCA Forge Welding & BBQ Gloves. On Amazon it says: These are guaranteed to withstand extreme temperatures up to 662°F(350℃).The inside of the gloves feature a 100% soft sweat absorbent cotton lining for added softness and heat resistance, that makes these gloves ideal for gripping hot stuff such as burning coal or wood & heat oven or cookware. Something we didn’t think about is another possible use for these gloves according to Amazon: Perfect for handling animal like DOG CAT BIRD REPTILE from getting bited! —- As you’ll see in Chad’s demo, these are extra long gloves to help protect your arms. Chad puts his hands sort in the fire, but cautions: pay attention to the 15 second rule, since many of the reviews say their gloves melted when they picked up a hot coal, or something like that! Chad paid about $23.00 for his gloves.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
Hey guys
Today I show you my new gadget, this is a device used to backup photos, videos & contacts from you phone & tablets . I did no see any other backup option, like documents, etc….
But if you need an iOS, android phone or tablet photo, video & contact backup, then this is the device for you. This is a USB A device, so any charging cable with one end being a USB A device will work, USB C, micro USB or lightning will work as long as the other end is a USB A port / type.
The app will not delete any items when they are backed up, you will have to go into the app to do that. It will not duplicate backups, it will only backup what it has not backed up already.
You will have to create a folder when you first backup, this happens every time you do a new backup for a new device, this separates the backups. You don’t have to do this, you could backup everything from every tablet / phone you want, but this would be confusing. I do backups for my phone named mo BU, then my wife, Wife BU, Son BU & so on.
The app worked flawlessly, no crashes & really easy to use.
I think you guys would like this device for your selves. Mo.

How To Submit Your Video For The Gadget Warehouse & Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.

Email of the week:
Hi Dick and Chad,
Just wanted to share this fun coincidence about the title of show #1921 “It’s in the Bag”.
This is also the title of New Zealand’s longest-running game show. The show, hosted by Selwyn Toogood, started in 1954 as a radio broadcast and made the jump to TV in 1973 where it stayed until the mid-90s.
Selwyn Toogood retired from his hosting duties in the 80s and the hosting was taken over by John Hawkesby, another national radio and TV host, and went through a few more hosts until it was canceled in 1994.
The premise of the show was relatively simple. A contestant would be chosen from the audience and come onto the stage to be asked three questions. If they got all three correct they would then get the choice of “the money or the bag”.
There were 30 bags to choose from, some containing dud prizes such as a wooden clothes peg, with the goal being to choose the Super Bag which contained a high-value prize. Neither the host or the contestant knew what was in each bag or which was the Super Bag.
Once the bag was chosen, the host would offer the contestant cash prizes of increasing value or they could open the bag and win the prize inside. If the cash prize was chosen, the prize in the bag would be revealed to the contestant and the audience.
There also was a second shorter round with a new contestant that consisted just of the bag choice and bidding.
The show had some minor alterations over the years but the basic game remained the same.
Thanks for the show, and I hope you enjoyed this little dive into a bit of Kiwi history.
