There were two toy events last week, both on the same day. Time To Play Magazine had theirs at the Metropolitan Pavilion, noon to three PM. And then there was the Toy Insider Holiday of Play at Chelsea Piers from 3 to 6 PM.
We start with fun toys from the Time To Play Magazine Press Event.
Meet The Little Kids (Fisher-Price) Toddler Toy Shake and Go Bubble Maraca
It’s billed as a No Spill Bubble Wand and Musical Toy Maraca. And it’s said to Introduce cause & effect and encourage early imaginative play for toddlers 18 months & up. As you’ll see in the video, just shake the bubble maraca to create a musical sound and to activate the bubbles. When the shaking stops, the bubbles stop. Shake again to reactivate the bubbles. In the package is one Fisher-Price Bubble Maraca and 4oz of Non-Toxic bubble solution. Requires 3 AAA batteries, not included. Under $20 and is now available.

At the same booth I saw the BLUEY Dance Mode Bubble Machine and Toy Microphone. (If it look familiar I see we covered it at a previous show, but it’s fun enough to show again! It features kid’s favorite Bluey character and a voice activated bubble machine that looks and acts a bit like a fun microphone. (But, as they mention, it’s NOT a working microphone.) But it IS a voiice-activated bubble machine. It magically blows bubbles and lights up when you sing! Just dip the wand in solution and sing or talk into the top of the toy to activate the bubbles. Kit includes a Bluey Bubble Machine Microphone and 4 fl oz of bubble solution. Requires 2 “AA” (1.5V) batteries, not included. Was under $16.00 on Amazon as on 9/18/24

Kids Will Be “Attracted” To These Kits.
They’re The Clixo Magnetic Kits for Kids.
CLIXO is designed as a multi-sensory magnetic building toy! Kids can click, snap, stack, and flex these versatile pieces for endless magnetic toy creativity. There are a lot of kits on Amazon. I asked if each kit built one thing and the gentleman at the Clixo booth said kids can build a large variety of creations with just a handful of pieces. I did a bit of playing with Clixo and the clicking feedback is heard and felt when the magnets connect. This lets kids know that each piece is securely in place. Kits include a quick start guide to help build their first exciting designs. Portable and ready for play indoors or outdoors, no flat surface needed! Kits start at under $30 and go up to giant kit that’s over $100!

Are You A Mindcraft Fan?
Meet the Minecraft Inventory Chest!
You may know that my Giz Wiz co-host, Chad Johnson, knows quite a bit about Minecraft. His show OMGcraft – Minecraft Tips & Tutorials has more than 1.5M subscribers on YouTube! So I figured he might like to know about these brand new Minecraft Inventory Chests. It’s a way to bring your digital Minecraft inventory into the real world! Series one features four chests. Each item in the chest is designed to stand freely or be showcased in their slots, or combined for one big display. Each chest is priced at $14.99 Age: 6+. Expected to be on sale the end of October/early November 2024. Doing a web search, it looks like they might already be for sale in the UK. Chad thinks this is a new category for Minecraft fans and will probably do well.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
It’s September, and Chad’s Cheap Gadget Theme, as voted on by our loyal Patreons, is Cheap “As Seen On TV” Gadgets!
Chad’s third new theme gadget is the WALLET PIX DIGITAL PHOTO ALBUM.
Wow! This device is said to display 58 photos, in color! And it automatically resizes photos to fit the screen. Chad let us know about how old this gadget is when he read on the package: Compatible with Microsoft Windows 2000, XP and Vista. It’s also said to be: “The size of a credit card- you can take it anywhere. 1.5″ Screen.” Actually, as you’ll see on this week’s show you can’t take it anywhere, or even turn it on. Seems the 3 cell batteries, even unused, can’t survive for 20 years! They were corroded, along with battery compartment. But if you want to buy one to play with, I see ‘new in box Wallet Pix’ offered on eBay for as little as $6.00. But make sure you see Chad’s experience on this week’s show before you even spend that much money!

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse.
Norris Hall emails us: I hope you won’t be “board” with this video
Hey Dickie D and Chad
I have a gadget that you may get “board” with, but I find that it “irons out” a lot of issues I previously had with this tedious task.
There are no LED lights or USB C ports. It doesn’t even have a battery. But after a year of using this, I felt “pressed” to make a video about it.
