AMAZING! We’ve in year 18 of The Giz Wiz Show!
The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006! If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. Hot Weather is on the way, and this gadget can help keep you cool!
It’s more than a portable fan. This TYZU fan has 2 mist modes and 4 speeds. The 1st speed is called natural wind and alternates between a high speed and slow speed every 4 seconds over and over. I didn’t find that very useful. Then there’s the standard low, medium, high speeds. The clip on the bottom of this fan is BIG and seems sturdy enough to clamp on to surfaces up to 2 inches. So it would be easy to attach to golf carts, camping tents, baby strollers, treadmills, etc. Or use it as desk fan for office, bedroom or dorm. Then there’s 2 night light modes. But wait, there’s more. 3 timers (2H/4H/6H), let you set the time for the fan to turn off. You charge the 4000mAh battery via USB-C and a cable is included, The company says the fan will work for 3.5-10 hours depending on the features fan you’re using. I t was about $27 on 4/22/23.

This Might Be The Ultimate Power Strip.
HANYCONY Surge Protector Power Strip w/20 Places To Plug In Stuff!
It certainly has the most outlets I’ve ever seen in a power strip: 20 IN 1! This surge protector power strip has 16 AC outlets and 4 smart USB charging ports (5v/3.1a). So in theory, it can power up to 20 electronic devices simultaneously. But the total of everything plugged in can’t exceed 1875W/15A. The company says their 4 smart USB charging ports (Total 5v/3.1A) can auto detect and deliver optimal charging speed to your devices. (1800 Joules Surge Overload Protection.) The lighted on/off switch has an integrated circuit breaker for overload protection of the outlets, but it’s small and will probably only be seen in a darkened room. The 3-sided power strip design lets you plug in many devices, but big transformer plugs will most likely block some outlets. Keyhole mounting slots on the base let you mount the power strip to the wall or desk. 10 foot extension cord with flat plug. Hanycony adds: RoHS, FCC and ETL Certificates. Here’s what I found online about ETL. The main difference between UL and ETL listed products is that ETL doesn’t create its own standards for certification. UL develops standards that are used by other organizations, including ETL. Both are Nationally Recognized Testing Laboratories (NRTLs). They serve as non-governmental labs that operate independently. It’s about $26 on Amazon.

If the shoe doesn’t fit, buy this. It Could Help!
That strange gadget is the Eachway Shoe Stretcher. Use it to stretch width and/or length to increase shoe size and improve the fit of your favorite footwear. But wait, there’s more! It can also help if you suffer from bunions, calluses, corns or other foot issues that cause pressure on the foot when wearing your shoes. That’s achieved by placing one or more of the 8 included “bunion plugs” in the holes in the shoe stretcher. The company says their shoe spreader is perfect for use with leather and suede footwear and is ideal for stretching flats, sandals, loafers, oxfords, tennis shoes, slippers, sneakers, canvas shoes, sports shoes, peep toes shoes, and ankle boots. BUT THEY DON’T FIT LONG BOOTS! I used a pair of these to stretch some shoes I really like, but were too tight on my left foot. This solved the problem. I paid about $20. They were $18.88 on 4/22/23.

Chad’s Crappy Corner.
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for April. And that theme is “Cheap Gadgets for the Bathroom”. Chad’s 2nd cheap gadget is the iHave Toothbrush Holders for Bathrooms.
From Amazon: Super storage capacity (1 tray, 1 storage compartment, and 1 drawer), can store combs, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, razors, etc., Multifunction toothbrush holder comes with an automatic toothpaste dispenser. Two magnetic mouthwash cups are designed with an upside-down drain, dust-proof and waterproof. You can hang 6 toothbrushes simultaneously, which is suitable for the whole family. Wall mounted installation does not hurt the wall. Just clean the wall and press the adhesive strip to bond the wall for 2 hours entirely, then you can hang the tooth brush holder. The toothbrush holder wall mounted uses a patented non-marking adhesive strip with an excellent caulking effect. Chad paid about $20.00 when he bought his.
And Chad’s take: Chad mostly liked this. It mounts easily with a two part system so you can remove it for cleaning. Chad was not crazy about the auto toothpaste dispenser which takes a bit of prep to set up and may deliver too much toothpaste each time you use it. He thought the magnetic cups were unique, but that you probably need a pretty big mirror in order to want to install this. He paid about $20 for his unit and points out that there are many versions of different sizes and options available.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
Something different this week, The Giz Wiz has his own gadget warehouse gadget, thanks to faithful listener and fan, Lindi Dunn.
Lindi was helping friends clean out an apartment from someone who had passed on. Seems no one wanted the camera case and what was inside it. She figured it must be a camera of some sort so immediately thought, “old camera – sounds like a good ‘Gadget Warehouse’ device. So she dropped it off at Gizneyland. As you’ll see on this week’s show, it turned out to be quite a decent high-end camera for it’s time: The Kodak Retina IIa. It was also in great condition.

How To Submit Your Video For The Gadget Warehouse & Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Email of the week:
Hey Guys-
One of the channels I watch (because I’m an EE) is Big Clive. Clive is a Scott who explains the circuitry in our favorite topic, gadgets.
His most recent post on YouTube is very odd and very MAD. He dissects a USB powered wall hook.
It sounds like a joke but it is actually a real thing.

This might be good for a few crazy jokes that keeps us, the viewers, coming back.
Best wishes. -Buddy Yates
