Show #1935 Week of May 11th, 2023 Recorded Tuesday May 9th
AMAZING! We’ve in year 18 of The Giz Wiz Show!
The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006! If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you’d like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we have no ads) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: www.gizwiz.tv
We start the show with a quickie ‘What The Heck Is It?’
Spoiler Alert: It’s the UTOFINUS Cord Organizer for Kitchen Appliances
I like this a lot! First a bit of info via Amazon: Our cord organizer has been newly upgraded to organize thicker and longer wires. It is very simple to snap the power cord in. The glue on the bottom is a high-quality 3M glue. Stick on, wait 10 minutes and you’re ready to go! High temperature resistance even when used on various heated appliances! Suitable for more than 90% of household appliances, and can be applied to various kitchen equipment, such as stand mixer, coffee machines, air fryers, electric kettle, toaster, juicer, etc.
I bought these and used one of them right away to hold the long cord on a portable fan in place when I put it away. You’ll see the whole demo on this week’s show. I like these a lot and so did Chad. 10 were $13.99 on 5/8/23. ($1.40 each) but prices change quickly on Amazon.

A Chad CRAPPY Extra!
Chad expected to have a high-tech Not-Crappy Gadget for this show, but it wasn’t ready in time, so he quickly found something that might be crappy, or might be great, all depending on your age.
It’s the Five Below Plush cable buddy cable management clip.
From Five Below: Let the plush cable buddy save you from lost & tangled wires! This cable management clip is a cute way to organize your space. it’s a true tech bff! Clip this tiny stuffed animal to cables, tablets, screens, desks, or any flat surface! Size: 2in (W) x 2.5in (L) x 1.5in.
And Chad’s Take: Chad thought this was cute, but probably more for clipping on a monitor, a shelf or something like that because it doesn’t do a great job of holding cables. You can judge for yourself when you see Chad’ demo on this week’s show. Chad paid $4.00 for his Plush Cable Buddy.

New Umbrella Hat That’s Almost The Size Of A Regular Umbrella.
But, would you be willing to wear it in public?
Years ago I bought one of those folding umbrella hats and never had the nerve to wear it out in public. Then I saw an ad for the NEW-Vi, a much bigger umbrella hat and thought I might wear that in the park if caught in the rain. (In the rain, who would bother staring?} It’s small 9.8”, but opens to 37.4” That’s wide enough to keep your head, arms and probably the things you are carrying dry. It’s also lightweight too at 9.2 oz according to the company. It’s easy to open and close – once you know how! You’ll see me do on this week’s show. The silver coating cloth top will bounce sunlight off so it don’ absorb heat much, so it should make a good sunshade too. I don’t think my umbrella has a vent, but there models with a vent to help keep you cooler from strong sunlight. I paid $11.99 for mine, but depending on style and color choice, it might be a bit more.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for May. And that theme is Cheap Smartphone Gadgets.
Chad’s 2nd cheap smartphone gadget is the Universal In- Flight Airplane Phone Holder.
First a little via Amazon: This versatile accessory features a strong clamp to mount your smartphone to table, luggage handle, gym equipment or any objects up to 1.5 inch wide. Dual joints with 360 degrees rotation gives you flexibility for best viewing angle, vertically or horizontally. Compatible to multiple phone sizes from an iPhone Mini to an iPhone 14 Pro Max or Samsung Note 20 Plus.
And Chad’s take: Chad liked this a lot. On this week’s show you’ll see a few of ways this device can hold your phone, especially while traveling. And it’s in expensive too. Chad paid $10.99 for his.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
Another fun gadget found by our most loyal and frequent contributor Mo Torres. Chad ordered one of these right after we ran Mo’s video. It’s the Docket, a hard drive pocket that attaches to your laptop, Chromebook, etc. And it has a pass-thru pocket for the connection wire.
Mo emailed us: Another cool item, enjoy.

It’s the Docket External Hard Drive Holder for Laptop Closed Pocket Design with Cable Hole for Safe Storage Expand Storage While Eliminating Boundaries.
PS. on the ipad, the other pocket / holder is for an Apple Pencil.

How To Submit Your Video For The Gadget Warehouse & Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
