AMAZING! We’ve in year 18 of The Giz Wiz Show!
The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006! If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. Gadgets The Giz Wiz Found At Pepcom’s Well Now & Home Now Press Event
There were lots of high-end ‘smart’ mattresses at Pepcom, but I picked the one that cost about $7,000! Meet The Bryte Balance Smart Bed Mattress.
According to Bryte 70% of Americans simply do not get a solid night’s rest. Available both for the home and for hotels and resorts, the Bryte Balance uses purposeful, connected technology to actively help you fall asleep faster, stay asleep longer and is customizable for one’s own comfort level. (There are 90 ‘addressable pods’ in each mattress.) Bryte’s multi-sensory relaxation experience pairs sleep inducing sounds with soothing motion. Rebalancing technology, which automatically removes pressure imbalances so you stay asleep. And Dual Comfort Tailoring, allows customization on both sides of the mattress, to provide comfort based on each partners’ individual attributes and sleeping preferences. And with the Bryte app users can track sleep duration, sleep stages, and sleep efficiency, and catch up on new content. MSRP starts at $6,299. It’s also available to experience in select hotels in Seattle, Chicago, Miami, San Francisco, and New York City.

At Pepcom I saw my first Combi Steam Oven.
It’s the Sharp Smart Combi Steam Oven. Info via Sharp: Commercial combi ovens have been in the restaurant industry for decades, and now Sharp is helping to bring that technology into your smart home. The Sharp SSC2489GS combines convection heat and superheated steam to Grill, Bake, and Roast with nine cooking modes. Works with Alexa. Cleanup is a breeze with two preset cleaning modes. There is even a sterilize option for canning jars, small cutting boards, and utensils. The removable reservoir means no special plumbing or wet-wall installation is required. And with a common 120V power requirement, you can simply plug it into a regular outlet. MSRP: $2499.99.

Zvox shows two new AccuVoice Products At Pepcom.
I’m a big fan of ZVOX, voice clarifying soundbars. At Pepcom they introduced two new models, including their first portable AV70 Bluetooth AccuVoice Speaker. Powered by a rechargeable lithium battery, the AV70 is great for people on the go. But there’s a back story. Video conferencing exploded during the first year of the COVID crisis. But many people had trouble understanding what was being said,” commented ZVOX founder Tom Hannaher. “On important business conference meetings, and on millions of family video calls, folks kept asking ‘what did they say?’ The little AccuVoice conference speaker fixes that.” The AV70 connects wirelessly to any phone, tablet, or computer – using Bluetooth, but a wired connection is also available. It’s designed to let listeners hear every word on every call! MSRP: $99.99.00
IMPORTANT UPDATE FROM ZVOX: Hi Dick, For the month of June your viewers/listeners can buy the AV70 for $59.99 when they use the coupon code AV70 during checkout on the ZVOX.com site. Does not work on Amazon.

But it seems cheaper on HSN https://www.hsn.com/products/zvox-av70-bluetooth-speaker-waccuvoice/20852872 (Was about $70 w/shipping on 5/18/23)
ZVOX’s newest and smallest voice clarifying soundbar shown on this week’s show is the AccuVoice AV120 TV Speaker MSRP: $99.99
It’s here on Amazon: https://amzn.to/42U9XDp (Was $89.99 on 5/20/23)

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for May. And that theme is Cheap Smartphone Gadgets.
Chad’s 3rd smartphone gadget is the PopSockets Phone Grip for the MagSafe iPhone.
From Amazon: Our phone grip compatible with MagSafe we call a “PopGrip” securely attaches to your MagSafe-compatible case for maximum grip and kickstand capabilities. Wirelessly charge your phone by simply sliding off the magnetic PopSocket and setting on a wireless charging pad. Offers a secure grip so you can text with one hand, avoid phone drops, and use as a phone stand on-the-go.
And Chad’s take? Chad likes this a lot! No sticky stuff involved. You’ll see that his PopSocket mounts pretty securely to his MagSafe iPhone. Chad found it makes holding the phone easier, and it doubles as a phone stand. You’ll see Chad’s complete demo on this week’s show. It sells for a touch under $30 and Chad points out there seem to be ‘knock-offs’ online too.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
The Giz Wiz takes over Dick’s Gadget Warehouse with the The Animal, Interactive Unboxing Toy Truck!
This came out about 3 years ago, but for some reason ended up on a shelf in Dick’s Gadget Warehouse. I didn’t have another viewer warehouse video handy for this week’s show, so I figured it would be a good time to RELEASE THE BEAST. According to the box copy, you’re instructed to: “Yell and knock on the crate to make it shake and hear The Animal growl and roar. It’s up to you to make The Animal angry enough to claw out of its crate! You can even repeat the unboxing!” How did it go? No spoiler alert here. Watch this week’s show and see for yourself.

How To Submit Your Video For The Gadget Warehouse & Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD autographed to you, as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
