Show #1952 Week of September 7th 2023
AMAZING! We’ve in year 18 of The Giz Wiz Show!
The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006! If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you’d like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we have zero ads) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page. There’s a Paypal link there too. Thank you! www.gizwiz.tv.
We Kicked Off The Show With A Weird WTHII Gadget.
It’s is the Jarware Salt and Pepper Shaker for Regular Mouth Mason Jars. It fits regular mouth mason jars, but the recommended jar size is 16 oz. (Jar not included). I’m pretty sure you won’t need this for a small family, but this gadget allows you to transform a Mason jar into a multi-purpose salt and pepper shaker. Fill the insert with pepper and snap it onto the provided lid. Then fill the rest of the jar with salt. (That’s A LOT of salt!) Then when you use it, rotate the cover to salt, or pepper, or S+P for both. Handy, or maybe just too big for the table? Watch the show and you can decide. Chad thought it might be ideal for a sandwich shop where they sprinkle on a lot of a salt/pepper combination.
Was: $7.59 on Amazon as of 9/7/23:

Doggie Steps For Older Pets….
Our rescue terrier Charlie is getting a bit older. He’s probably about 9 years or so and he now he hesitates jumping off the bed in the morning. My bed is very high, so I have lift him onto the bed before he goes to sleep. I thought doggie stairs be the answer. So I purchased the 4 tier OZD Dog Stairs. They’re said to be perfect for small pets, short-legged pets, elderly pets, or pets with injuries and osteoarthritis. When they arrive they are the tightest vacuum packed thing I ever bought on Amazon. You’ll see them pop open on this week’s show. And what did Charlie think of them. You’ll see that too! I like the zipper design of the soft corduroy fabric that makes it easy to remove for cleaning. Prices vary depending 2, 3, or 4 steps. They range from about $22 to $44 as of 9/7/23

The Paracord Wristband for Outdoor Sport & Tactical Survival!
My Paracord Wristband could also be a gadget warehouse item because I’ve had it for probably 15+ years. But when I checked on Amazon, it’s not only still available, there are dozens of similar items for sale. They’re sold mostly as Tactical Survival Tools and since I wasn’t wearing mine anymore, I thought I’d see just how helpful it could be. My thought was – ‘if you needed some heavy duty line to quickly tie something down, or use as an emergency tourniquet, you would quickly unwind your bracelet and you would be set to go. Wow, that is NOT the case. Watch this week’s show to see what the process is before you get to use the roughly 10’ of Mil-Spec 350 Paracord. There are many buying options on Amazon, but this one seems closest to the one I bought all those years ago. They were two for about $11.00 on Amazon on 9/7/23

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for September. That winning theme is Cheap Gadgets To Use In A Hotel.
Chad’s 1st Cheap Gadget: Tile Lost and Found Labels. We all know Tile, the little electronic device that helps you locate lost or misplaced items. On this show Chad demos Tile Lost and Found QR scannable labels which are very different because they have no electronics. They’re labels for laptops, water bottles, headphones, anything you might lose or misplace. etc. You activate each Label in the Tile app. Add a custom message and how you want to be contacted if your item is found. If someone finds your lost stuff, (hopefully) they’ll scan the label and arrange to return it to you. You see it all Chad demo it all on this week’s show. And you’ll hear what Chad wished they did to improve them.
Chad paid $10 for a set of 10. I didn’t see that option on Amazon or on the Tile Store. I only saw 25 for $25.00. But basically they’re a buck each.
Also on Amazon: 1 Tile Mate + 5 Lost and Found Labels for under $20: https://amzn.to/3RbnQtN

Letter of the week:
A Comment on the Miniature Spatulas from Paul A Ayala Sr
Regarding the miniature spatulas you featured on episode 1951, I just had to take a moment to drop a line and shed some light on their purpose.
Your problem with trying to justify the need for such a product is that your mind was set upon comparing them with regular spatulas, spreaders, and utensils. However, these are not intended to be used as your primary serving utensil for jarred products. Rather, they are intended to allow you to scrape the final ounces of the product out of the jar. The perfect examples are ketchup, mayhonnaise, mustard, tarter sauce, etc. You almost always end up throwing those jars away with a few ounces of product still stuck to the bottom. The spatulas are designed so that you can tilt the jars and use them to disengage those final drops of product while gravity works in conjunction to extract it from the container. While this may still seem to be a minor inconvenience, just imagine how much product you have discarded over time without this solution.
So no, those spatulas are not useful if used as your primary utensil to spread product on your food item of choice; but you also cannot use a regular spatula, knife, spoon, or spreader to empty every last bit of your desired spread or sauce as they simply don’t fit that well through the opening or that deep to the bottom without also blocking the exit for said product.
FYI, I am definitely not affiliated with the manufacturer or inventor in any way, just had to scratch the itch I had when watching you express your difficulty in understanding the purpose of the product. Sometimes, your mind just gets stuck with a certain understanding or perspective and t hat makes it difficult to look at things from a different perspective.
