Chad & I Went Through A Year Of Show To Present Our Picks For “The Worst Gadgets of 2024”
When I saw the photo of the YonTune Sleep Headphones with White Noise built-in, I had to order one. Why? Because the photo showed that for some bizarre reason, they also featured flashing disco lights! Well, it turns out the disco lights were an artist’s conception and not on the headband I received. 3 white noises were built in, but had an annoying click every 90 seconds. The Bluetooth pairing was fast and I was actually surprised at how good they sound. BUT, until you love button pushing, you’ll find these quite hard to use. As the instructions say: each of the 3 buttons have 5 functions! Click, double click, hold for 1 sec, hold for 2 second, hold for 4 seconds. OMG, so there are 15 functions you have to remember to operate this headband and you have to do it by touch since it’s on your head! No, not for me. It was still available on Amazon for about $16.00 on 1/3/25.

Meet The Cockeyed Clock.
Chad’s August Cheap Gadget Theme, voted on and picked by our loyal Patreon members, was Cheap Time Gadgets – gadgets that have anything to do with time.
On that episode Chad showed us his new Big Eyes Clock! It’s billed as a Unique clock that is stylish and interesting. How does it tell time? The rotating eyes are used – the left eye = hours, the right eye = minutes). Well, it’s not the easiest way to tell time because there are no markings on the clock and it’s even possible to put the eyes in the wrong sockets when you put them back after putting in the batteries. Chad thinks his clock never seemed to have right time. Chad paid almost $25 for his, but while on Amazon 1/3/25 what appears to be the exact same clock, is selling for about $10 less. It’s a novelty, even a conversation starter, but it’s really not good as a clock.

Here’s a very different kind of water bottle!
The object of AirUP is to enjoy sugar free hydration with air up a choice of 5 different flavor pods. They are Kola, Watermelon, Orangeade, Apple, and Pineapple. The pod mounts on the special water bottle cap & adds the flavor just by aroma! One pod ‘flavors’ 25+ liters sparkling or still water according to the company.
The company gave me a sample to try myself. Surprisingly it works fairly well. The concept and the pods and AirUP unit itself are all very nice. BUT, it’s the price that landed it on the ‘worst’ list. Currently on Amazon – 1/3/25 – an AirUp bottle and 5 flavor pads is $54.95. Almost $55 seems a lot of money to be able to drink ‘flavored’ water. There were 100 reviews on that date, giving 3.2 out of 5 stars for the product, so not everybody likes it.

A Cheap Halloween Gadget That Isn’t Cheap — or even good.
This could be an inexpensive solution! But it is strange looking.
They’re the Neoism Anti Motion Sickness Glasses and you’ll see how weird they look when I put them on. However, the company says it offers “Effective Relief for 95% of Motion Sickness Symptoms. You put them on and fix your gaze on a stationary object like a book or cell phone for 10-14 minutes. The discomfort of car motion sickness will gradually disappear.” These anti motion sickness glasses have liquid-filled circles to create an artificial horizon in your vision, said to re-synchronize your eyes with their balance system. A lot of people in the reviews said they work. We put them on the ‘worst of’ list just because so many people in chat said they were too weird to wear. But, in the reviews, they worked for many people. And they’re very inexpensive, so it is probably worth trying to see if they work for you, if you have motion sickness. There are two Amazon links below. The first one is the pair I bought. The second link is for two pair that look exactly the same but were only $7.99 for two pair on 2/3/25.

Want A Gadget To Hold More Rolls of Toilet Paper?
Meet The Brightroom Over the Tank Toilet Paper Holder.
This is a two-roll toilet paper holder with an over-the-tank design. Target says it’s suitable for use in smaller spaces or in addition to another toilet paper holder
Chad liked that it holds two rolls of toilet paper, but it didn’t fit quite right on his toilet, The chatroom remarked that his toilet seemed to a bit more rounded than most toilet tanks. Chad also thought the device would have a better overall look once in place. It was $12.00 at Target. Ultimately Chad gave up on trying to use it. He thought it looked too cheap and flimsy. But he checked and it’s available at target.
Take A Look At That Photo And Probably Don’t Know Exactly What It’s For.
That device is the Digi Travel Pillow for Airplanes. Or trains, or any other place you’re not embarrassed to actually use it! It’s said to offer excellent support to both your head and neck. “The special valve makes inflate and deflate easily and quickly.” I put that in quotes because ‘easily and quickly’ is NOT how I found trying to inflate & deflate this gadget. Also forget the part that says: When deflated, it’s easy to roll back up into the drawstring bag quickly and it hardly take up any space in your carry-on bag. Lots of luck trying to get that thing back in the bag it’s shipping in. I would not have the nerve to use this anyplace where other people could see me trying to blow it up, or even sleep in it. The one I bought on Amazon is ‘no longer available’, but I found one just like it. Actually, the place for your head looks a bit better than the one I bought. It was about $24 on 1/2/25

For This Weird Travel Gadget Chad Actually Made A Train Trip To Try It Out!
Meet the Seat Sleeper!
Chad was quiet setting up his Seat Sleeper on an early morning train without disturbing the people in the seats behind him. He explained how you need to set up this pillow for a trip. It’s a bit strange because it comes with an adjustable seat strap about 5-feet in length that has to go completely around the seat you’re in. The company says SeatSleeper is small enough to fit a pocket of your handbag, making it a portable travel must-have. Chad found his head still managed to fall forward, so he is not a fan on this product. That’s why it made his ‘worst of’ list. It’s still on sale for about $23.00 if you want to check out on Amazon. Reviews were okay on Amazon, so it worked for some people.
