Is a $20 Smart Watch A Dumb Purchase?
When I misplaced my Galaxy Gear watch, I thought I should have a stand-by tech watch to use until I found it. Something with a few features and one that didn’t cost a lot because I would stop using it as soon as I found my Galaxy Gear Watch. I found one I liked on amazon for $46, what looks like the same one on eBay for $32. And the same one again on Aliexpress for $20 or less. I went for the one on eBay since I would have it in 3 days. It’s sold under a bunch of different brand names, but more likely it’s often referred to as the C20_Pro. I like it a lot for what I need, but it could never be my normal smart watch because of the way it’s charged. It not only cannot be charged wirelessly, but you can’t use the watch while it’s being charged. When you attach the magnetic charging cable, the watch face shows the time in small digits and the word “Charging”. So you can’t be using it to continue counting steps, monitoring your sleep, etc. You’ll see the C20_Pro and learn many more details on this week’s show.

A Chad Extra
On this week’s show Chad has a hands-on demo of the new Legion Go from Lenovo.
It’s their first portable gaming device, but it’s very different, because it can also work as a full Windows 11 tablet. It has detachable controllers and a very large IPS 8.8” screen, with 2560 x 1600 pixel resolution, and up to a 144-Hz refresh rate. I am not a gamer and outside of Tetris I haven’t played any video games. That’s why you’ll get the entire picture from a handheld gaming expert, Chad! Legion Go MSRP $699.99

Gizneyland Has Disco Lights, But Now It Has a Disco Fountain Too!
Yes, Gizneyland has a lot of disco lights, but damn, no disco fountain! Until now. This Five Below LED Disco Water Fountain is very easy to set up. Just add water +2 AA batteries which are not included. The Disco Mirrored Color Changing LED Fountain is small, 6.3 in x 4.5 in, but is great for a desk, tabletop or on a bar, or shelf. It even comes with ‘real river rocks’ which adds to the look of this mini-fountain. It’s for indoor use only and for $5.55, I think it would make a great unusual gadget. Not many people are going to say: “Oh, I already have an LED Disco Fountain!”

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for November. And that winning theme is Cheap Gadgets That Look Like They Shouldn’t Work!
Chad’s third gadgets is the MyKimomo Semi Automatic Stainless Steel Whisk
This whisk (and many more exactly like it on Amazon) adopts the spring-action design, so batteries or electricity is not required when working. Just push down the handle, and the blending whisk stirs effortlessly and evenly in the egg liquid. This stirrer can also be used as milk frother, and is also a great tool for mixing coffee, cocoa, cocktails and more.
Chad’s take: He wasn’t sure you really needed one of these if you didn’t use a whisk often. But if you have a large family, or you like egg mixtures often, this could save you some time and effort. He found it was listed as dishwasher safe and it only about $7.00 on Amazon. When I was writing this and checked on Amazon I saw some companies were offering 3 different sized semi-auto whisks for about $10. Here’s a link to a wide variety of them.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
Our viewer video is someone familiar to the show, and very familiar to Chad.
The subject is: Viewer Video: Train engine turntable
Submitted by Selina Johnson, aka OMGmom!
Hi Dick, We thought of you a lot when we went to the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Lots of old train engines to look at. Best of all our tour included a ride out to the engine turntable. One of the best gadgets we have ever seen.
The turntable weighs 80 tons and the engine weighs 120 tons. Originally four men would manually turn the engine around by pushing the turntable. Now it is driven by an engine. A turntable was needed when there were steam engines because they could not go backwards. With the invention of diesel engines, the turntable became obsolete but this one is kept to preserve the history.
They have one of the few workshops that can still repair steam engines. In some cases they have to build the replacement part by hand as parts can no longer be obtained. In the attached picture, you can see the pit underneath the engine that allows the repairman to examine and work on items under the engine.
Fun Facts:
* Chad’s grandfather and grandmother met while working for the railroad. Chad’s grandfather was a depot agent at several locations in Texas. Chad grandmother was a telegraph operator.
* Chad’s other grandfather worked in the train yard for a while before he graduated college.

Email of the week:
Mo, our most frequent contributor and most loyal fan, who finds the most some of the most outrageous gadgets ever, emails us:
Would You Wear These? Mo was writing about the “backward sneakers” from the company Mischief or MSCHF. One of their creations the MSCHF BWD Shoe is a slip-on sneaker that can be worn forward or backward. It has openings at either end so it’s not designed for rain because your toes are exposed in either direction. Yes, very weird. You’ll see pictures of it on this week’s show. We couldn’t show the video Mo sent because it seems the company changed the because the BWD Shoe sold out already. But doing a Google search I see the backward shoe or sneaker on eBay selling for $500 to $800!!!
