After a two hiatus because of Covid, Toy Fair Returns to the Javits Center in NYC!
How much do people like toys? It’s said to a business worth $102.3B. Yes billion dollars annually!
Toy Fair is different than trade shows for the press. Most major toy companies have their own closed booths that require a booked appointment to get in. Since I covered a lot of major toy announcements in the past weeks from smaller ‘for the press toy shows’, we just roamed around Toy Fair and found many interesting and fun toys and gadgets.
We start with a video exploring many new gizmos.
Here’s are link to major items In the Toy Fair video:
The amazing two story playhouse with giant slide is the Kidkraft Cozy Escape Playhouse. MSRP: $1299.99. The lowest price I saw on 10/5/23 was $798.00. I do not know anything about this company, except they had the lowest price I saw as of 10/5/23 $798.00. https://www.erlinket.com/product/kidkraft-cozy-escape-playhouse/

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for October. And that winning theme is Things That Glow In The Dark.
Chad 1st gadget that glows in the dark is the GLOW IN THE DARK FORT KIT FOR KIDS
Via Amazon: This construction fort set includes 53 glow in the dark connecting rods and 28 multilink spheres. Create kids forts of various shapes and sizes, indoors or out by inserting and twisting the rods into the spheres (adult supervision is advised); glow in the dark pieces need to be exposed to light prior to activating in the dark. This kids play fort kit is made with kid-safe, BPA-free plastic; includes 15.75” rods and 2.4” balls; these construction fort building toys are perfect for curious-minded kids ages 4 and up.
And Chad’s take: Chad liked this a lot. His video on this week’s show is one of the most involved videos he ever did. He started building his fort at sundown and finished it in the dark. You’ll see the whole fort come to life on this week’s show, but basically Chad thought kids would love to play and build one of the many projects available with this kit. Chad paid $34.99 on Amazon:

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
Our email this week is from David Podnar who writes:
Hi Dick and Chad:
Here is something I picked up on clearance at Walmart.
(Note: David’s video starts out as a fun ‘What The Heck Is It?”)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H0w_XCTyYNw
This looks like the one David got at Walmart for $5, but it’s almost $25 at Amazon.

Strangely, the one I found on Aliexpress was even more, about $27.00, so David got a heck of a good deal at $5!.
