AMAZING! We’ve in year 18 of The Giz Wiz Show!
The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006! If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you’d like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we have zero ads) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page. There’s a PayPal link there too. Thank you! www.gizwiz.tv.
Kids Will Love the Slightly Weird Face Bank.
A Face Bank?? No, you don’t save face, you use it to save coins in a face! This is a unique piggy bank that could help your kids save money, but also provide some fun! Be aware it can also seem creepy as some people in our chatroom mentioned when they saw they bank working. Watch this week’s show to see it in action and make up your own mind. The Face Bank opens its mouth automatically once you reach your hand to feed it a coin. Fits almost every type of standard coin – Quarters, Dimes, Nickels, Pennies and more. The action is sometimes a bit klunky. Requires two (2) AA batteries. (Not included.) And the space under the bank where the money goes can easily slide open, so kids can get the coins out to reuse if they want. I paid $17 on Amazon. Over at AliExpress it was selling for about $6, but it will take a couple of weeks to get it. Just search for ‘face bank’.

A Fun LED Tree!
The decorative LED Tree is the 20″ 108 LED Firefly Bonsai Artificial Fairy Tree. It’s an easy way to decorate any room of the house. The branches can be arranged to any shape you like. It consists of 108 LEDS powered by USB or 3 AA batteries (not included). It ships with the USB cable and assembly is easy. Just insert the tree into the base by aliening the tab on the tree base with the slot in the base. The put in the batteries or plug the cord into a USB outlet. The on/off switch is touch sensitive and I found that one touch turns it on and the second touch makes the lights blink. A third touch shuts it off. This is available in silver or gold and there may be other variations, so take care when ordering. It was under $20 when this was posted on 11/18/23

The Power Zone Personal Ceramic Heater
The Power Zone is a small 350W heater that plugs directly into the wall. Most regular electric heaters are 1500 watts, but this little one has less than 25% of most of the others. Yet, some of the ads for it are totally misleading, like this claim: “Watch while this powerful device heats an entire room, car, RV, garage, and more under 60 seconds…”I was given this heater by Lindi Dunn, a friend and fan of the show. She said it puts out so little heat for what she needed, I could have it and maybe talk about it on the show. It has some nice features. A thermostat that shuts the unit off when it reaches the temp you set, a 1 to 12 hour timer, a digital temperature readout and even an AC plug that can rotate before you plug it into the wall. But after all the boasting about the output on ad says: “heating covers up to 100 square feet (this depends on your room is airtight)”. I use it under my desk in my often cold office. It works fine for that, and it will probably provide enough heat in a bathroom or other very small room, but that’s about it. Be-careful about keeping it away from water in the bathroom, or any room. It plugs directly into a 3-prong wall socket, so you need a place to plug it in near where you need the heat. It’s normally under $30. Way cheaper at Aliexpress. Beware some websites say it’s on sale for half the normal $99.99 price, for $49.99! On Amazon it was under $30 as of 11/18/23

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for November. And that winning theme is Cheap Gadgets That Look Like They Shouldn’t Work!
And Chad’s second gadgets is the Mirai Clinical Magnetic Soap Holder. The object here is to push what looks like a bottle cap, into the bar of soap. That bottle cap device is magnetic. Then you stick the second part of this device to a wall in your shower. Now you have a place to hang your soap so it’s not making a mess in a wet soap dish. Turns out Chad loves the idea, but hates the way this works. It might be soap he tried it on. You’ll see the entire test on this week’s show. Turns out the Mirai Magnetic Soap Holder is no longer available, but at the Amazon link below you’ll find one I think looks good and I ordered it. Some offerings use suction cups instead of a sticky tape backing, but I’m not a fan of suction cup bases. But I like the idea of the soap hanging on the shower wall, so I just ordered one. On an upcoming show I’ll let folks how I made out with my magnetic soap holder. They’re pretty much priced around $10. Some less, a couple more, but some offer two sets for the price.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
On this week’s show Bill Holmes emails us:
I work at an elementary school in fact I had a student video me in my office which is in the library and there is a bit of noise in the background. I show the 2000 iBook “toilet lid” laptop that I found in a closet when a teacher retired. So 23 years old now and it still boots up!
I sent in the video last year of the huge 8 pound 44 meg hard drive from the 1980’s. Also in this video I said the memory was 10 gig and of course the hard drive is 10 gigs. I have seen every Giz Wiz since number 1 with Leo. And have loved your writing. I remember coming back from the beach and stopping at a store and getting the Poopside down take off. Even reading Mad in the library in High School. For some reason they had a subscription!
