Now on to the new gadgets with the LED Dog Vest Harness!
I was attracted to the MASBRILL Light Up Dog Harness because it looked like it offered high visibility in the dark. This would be great for walking Charlie in the park at night. The rest of the description was good too: Made of breathable mesh lining and high quality Polyester fabric with well-padded soft sponge for comfort. So I bought it. In person, it just seems like an awful lot of construction for a small dog. Plus, it has something I have grown to hate. Cheap plastic buckles. They are so hard to unfasten, especially when your hound won’t stay still. So I’m going to give this to the animal shelter I work with. They can give it a new dog owner. Also there’s a link below to something the company added recently – a new version. It has less construction than the one I bought, but it still shows the dreaded (to me) buckles. Both are available in various LED colors & each is under $25.00.

Looks Weird, Works Great!
It’s getting cold in NYC, so I started wearing a knit cap to keep my ears warm. But along with the cold, we’ve had some great sunsets in the city and keeping the sun out of my eyes is impossible with a knit cap. And I don’t like carrying a pair of sunglasses since I’m already wearing my regular glasses. So I typed “knit cap with built-in sunglasses” into Amazon search & yes, someone makes that! The lenses I assume are just plastic because the knitted cap cost less than $15. For what I need, it works fine, BUT – you will look weird!!
Check out my demo on this week’s show to exactly how weird you’ll look!

We Review Another Sunset Lamp — With Many New Features!
Yes, The Giz Wiz has a lot of Sunset lamps. They’re great for people who hate the end of daylight saving time and the shorter days of winter. These lamps project a wonderful ‘sunlight’ color. Each new sunset lamp I buy does a little something extra. The latest one I bought has RGB+W LED Beads and a smart-app control. It features a color wheel that allows you to choose any light color you desire. It also has microphone functionality, music mode, theater mode, and photography mode. It comes with something they call the Octopus Base, but it only has four legs. But, with over a dozen lighting modes, this is my favorite sunset lamp ever! Under $20.00

Chad’s Crappy Corner
It’s November and Chad’s Cheap Gadget Theme, as voted on by our loyal Patreons, is Cheap ‘What The Heck Is It?’ Gadgets.
Chad’s final cheap WTHII gadget is the Demagnetizer-Magnetizer.
Here’s what it does when used for tools. To magnetize a tool, simply slide it through the center hole. To de-magnetize a tool, slide it through the side slots. If you need to work with electronic parts requiring demagnetized tools, just insert the screwdriver tip in the negative terminal cavity. To magnetize the screwdriver tip, insert it in the positive terminal cavity.
You’ll see a Chad do a great demo of this device on this week’s show! Chad paid $10 for his at ACE hardware, but I found 3 of them for about $11 on Amazon as of 11/30/24!

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse

We were surprised when we didn’t receive any new viewer warehouse videos to show this week. So Dennis & I went to to Dick’s Gadget Warehouse – yes, a real place – to video record stuff we would randomly find. It turned out to be a lot of fun.
Link to the video is below, and below that, is how you can submit YOUR warehouse video and win an autographed MAD magazine. Making a warehouse video is cheap and easy, using just your smartphone. Read all the details below.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show!

2. Videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long in Horizontal Format! Low production value is fine, but we need to hear you and see your gadget clearly! You can be in the video if you like.
3. Post your Video on YouTube and click ‘unlisted’ when you upload it if you want, but not “Private” or we won’t be able to see it. Send us the URL link from YouTube.
4. If we show your video (and we show 99% of them) and live in the US or Canada you’ll get an autographed current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of the US & Canada, I’ll autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res image. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific!

Email of the week is from Linda Norman
Hi Dick,
I was just watching this week’s giz wiz and saw you covered Stelo. As it happens, I use stelo. You guys were speculating on insurance coverage. In general insurance will only cover a CGM for type 1 diabetics. If you have type 2 diabetes or are predictable insurance won’t cover it. CGMs cost between $200 and $400 per month.
For myself, as a 60 year old trying to control my blood sugar as a predictable it’s been an invaluable tool. Being able to see what foods cause blood sugar spikes and eliminating them from my diet has brought me back into normal levels.
Love the show, Linda Norman
