AMAZING! We start year 19 of The Giz Wiz Show in February 2024!

A Fun, Inexpensive Holiday Gift Idea.
MOXTOYU Bluetooth Beanie with Light, USB Rechargeable LED Headlamp
We’ve done a beanie with an LED light, we’ve done one with built-in speakers, but this one has both features, plus a microphone for phone calls! And it charges via USB-C! The 3-way LED light is removable for charging via its own USB dongle and for use as a little flashlight.
The company says the beanie provides up to 6 hours of continuous lighting, with a quick charging time of around 2 hours. I had no trouble pairing the BT 5.2 beanie with my phone. The stereo sound quality is very decent, but of course nowhere near what you’ll get from most earbuds. Comes in many color choices, and a sort of decent holiday box. Most colors are under $16 and for some reason gray was under $13.00. More info on Amazon.

Another Clever Space Saving Gadget!
The Wetheny Under Desk Storage Drawer is a clamp-on swivel under-desk storage basket. A solution for those in need of additional storage space, you can store miscellaneous items, like pens, pencils, scissors, stapler, sticky notes, highlighter, etc. The drawer has 360-degree rotation which allows it to be hidden under the desk when not in use, it helps to keep the desk clutter-free and organized. The overall size is 10.62″L x 7.08″ W x 2.75″H. I’m using one at my desk and Dennis is one at his desk. Be aware of Chad’s comment that the desk clamp doesn’t always work exactly the same each time. Both Dennis & I find after a few uses, you probably have to tighten the clamp again. That’s no big deal, but worth mentioning. You see the whole demo on this week’s show. One storage unit is about $20 and a 2 pack, with one shelf a tiny bit smaller than the other, is about $30.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for December. And that winning theme is “Cheap New Year’s Resolution Gadgets!
Chad’s second gadget was more a theme, and that theme is relaxation. The main component was the Five Below Aromatherapy Candle Making Kit. It contains enough supplies to make two scented candles which hopefully, could help you relax. You’ll see the whole process as Chad makes two candles on this week’s show. (Spoiler alert, the kit Chad bought and used on the show is no longer available online, but it might still be available in stores.) The kit Chad bought was just $5.00. I did find a different candle making kit at Five Below online, and it too was just $5.00. (Available as of 12/15/23)

Chad’s other relaxing gadgets were the Mirrored Crystal Ball, also just $5.00.
That is here on the Five Below Website: https://www.fivebelow.com/products/disco-ball-6in_2
He also showed the:
Sun Projection Light $5.55. Chad a couple of them and they’re here: https://www.fivebelow.com/products/sunset-projection-lamp-usb-powered

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
This is a gadget warehouse spot without a video. (I explain on the show how that happened.)
I was about to buy a gadget on Amazon that certainly would have ended up in the gadget warehouse after I used it once on the show. Fortunately I read more about it before I hit the ‘checkout’ button and saved myself about $80! The gadget I was about to buy was the 650W Snow Machine w/ Wired Remote Control. Great Machine for Kids, Parties, Parades – an auto snow maker! Then I got to this part in the description: “Note: the nozzle is a piece of cloth/fabric and NOT a piece of plastic. The cloth nozzle was not supposed to be removed. The description in the user’s manual is printed wrong.” Then they explain you should call tech support to get your issues solved quickly. I also learned that the snow is created by soap. I was going to use this in Gizneyland on New Year’s Eve. It probably would have looked amazing on camera, but OMG, all that equipment would be covered in bubble soap! So I saved money and a ton of grief and equipment repair or replace expense.
However, if you use this snow making machine outdoors and realize it’s loud (so many reviews mention that) and have kids, this machine could provide some amazing fun, is my guess. It would also be great for an outdoor holiday display. You’ll see a bit of video of the snow machine at work via Amazon on this week’s show. There are about a dozen of them on Amazon from about $60 to $100. The Amazon link will bring you to page with lots of them! If you buy one, make a video for The Giz Wiz Show!! (Win an autographed MAD magazine too.)

Email of the week is from Rachel – (Sims2Rachel in the chat) She emails us:
Hi guys!
You have mentioned Temu a couple times and I wanted to give you my two cents. It is pronounced T-moo according to their website. I have bought a lot of stuff from Temu. Mostly craft supplies, hair accessories, and enamel pins. A lot of times to get cheap per item prices on craft supplies elsewhere, you have to buy a bundle but Temu lets you buy smaller quantities at low prices and you don’t end up with stuff you don’t want. There is a $10 order minimum and free shipping always claims to be for a limited time but I have never seen them charge for it. Also, if your order is late, they credit you $5 in your account. I just had this happen for the first time.
That brings me to electronics. I would not buy any electronics from them. All the bad reviews of the site I have seen have been a bait and switch sort of thing. I follow the adage of, “if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.” Even if the electronics don’t claim to be the name brand, I just don’t trust super cheap electronics.
Temu is not the right site for everyone but I have been banned from Aliexpress (I think because I had too many orders never show up). Another advantage is most orders arrive in 7-10 days.
