We Give The Under $10 Kid Camcorder Another Chance!
For just $8.99 for a new one, we couldn’t resist!
If you saw a recent Giz Wiz show, you saw the Kids-Camcorder Digital Video Camera I bought as ‘deal of the day’ for $13. It had four functions, shoot video, photos, voice recording and games. It comes with 15 lovely frames, 6 different filters and 3 special effects, 5 puzzle kids games. It was said to offer a 2.4 inch screen video resolution of 1080P, plus up to 12M JPEG image resolution. And it was designed for kids age 3-10. There was just one problem, it turned on once and never worked again. I’m getting a refund, but noticed on Amazon, the price had dropped to $8.99 on 12/20/23, so I had to buy it again. This time it worked. Included is a 32GB Memory Card, USB micro cable, small bag. USB manual, mini lanyard, & stickers to decorate the camera. Since the price was SO low, I didn’t trust using their micro-memory card, so I put in my own. How did it work? A Different Kind Of “What The Heck Is It? Game.
This time, we asked only my spouse Dennis to guess the ” What The Heck Is It” Gadget.
Spoiler Alert: It’s an LED Mini Fireplace!
After a fan said she got good buys on craft supplies at Temu, (Temu is an Aliexpress type website, shipping all types of gadgets from overseas.) I decided to try it myself with a small purchase. People have posted about ‘bait & switch’ on electronics and some other higher priced items.) My spouse and I enjoy faux fireplaces and living in small NYC apartments, need the mini-ones. The one I bought Dennis on Amazon stayed lit, but the flame effect stopped, probably due to a burned out motor. That one was about $34.00. I found one very much like it on Temu for about half that price. Shipping was free and amazingly fast. I got it in 6 days! How did it compare to the more expensive one? You’ll see it in action on this week’s show. The price was still under $20 on 12/30/23, but can change at any time.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad polled our loyal Patreons and they voted on his new theme for December. And that winning theme is “Cheap New Year’s Resolution Gadgets!
Chad’s final gadget is the Farberware Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Savers Storage Pods Pack.
Chad bought these at a local store and found they are packaged without any instructions. He also discovered he can’t find that 2-piece package online. I searched too and found that Faberware makes an assortment of Fruit & Vegetable savers, sold in various packages, none like the two pack Chad bought. The only explanation of what they did is: “Keeps fresh fruit and vegetables fresh longer. BPA free plastic. Hand wash only.” And each saver only holds one fruit or vegetable. A very strange gadget it seems. Chad paid $9.99 for the two piece set.

1. Video can be ANYTHING about a gadget: I bought a piece of crap. I bought a gadget I love. I have an old gadget I can’t part with because it was ‘high tech’ years ago! Even a ‘What The Heck Is It? Gadget.
2. Videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long in Horizontal Format! Low production value is fine, but we need to hear you and see your gadget clearly! You can be in the video if you like.
3. Post your Video on YouTube and click ‘unlisted’ when you upload it if you want, but not “Private” or we won’t be able to see it. Send us the URL link from YouTube.
4. If we show your video (and we show 99% of them) and live in the US or Canada you’ll also get an autographed current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of the US & Canada, I’ll autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res image. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific!
