Giz Wiz Show #1971, Thursday January 18, 2024
Welcome to our 1st ALL CES 2024 Show!
CES 2024 had 4300+ exhibitors and brought 135,000+ attendees! And those attendees included Chad and our producer/videographer Josh Cheney. Here are the 4 of gadgets they saw at the show.
Chad Gets To See ‘Clicks’ In Person!
Clicks got a lot of attention at CES. It may seem like going backwards to want a physical keyboard instead a virtual one. As you’ll see on this week’s show, the Clicks keyboard case can add “up to 50%” more display. That’s the amount of space that can be used by the virtual keyboard. Check the photo from the show. Chad was very impressed with this gadget.
In the photo, the gray phone has the virtual keyboard which is blocking a lot of the screen real estate. With the yellow Clicks external keypad, you can see a lot of more of the screen. There’s a backlight for when you’re typing at night or in a dim room. The keyboard features many shortcuts which you’ll learn about on this week’s show.
It is on the pricey side. It’s available in February for the iPhone 14 Pro & 15 Pro for $139. And in March for the iPhone 15 Pro Max for $159.

Chad Gets To Chat With The Wehead
I’m not sure I understand the name of this gadget, the Wehead, and I’m really not sure why you would need it. One thing I am sure of, and that’s that you will probably find it on the creepy side. It was introduced by an American startup. It’s been described as a groundbreaking AI companion robot presenting a human-like face on a screen, forging a new frontier in digital interaction. Human-like? Not to my eyes, but you’ll be able to judge for yourself when you watch this week’s show. Watch as Chad chats with the Wehead. And it’s not inexpensive. About $5,000, plus a monthly charge of $199.99.
When Chad went to the website on the live show, it wasn’t working when I checked it on 1/19/24.

What Is A Moustrap?
If you thought it was a mousetrap spelled wrong, well you’re wrong!
You really have to watch this week’s show to learn exactly why this mouse was created, but here’s a quick description. The Moustrap is called ‘the designers mouse’ and is said to be one of the most comfortable mice ever designed. (And Chad agrees.) It’s for people who use a mouse constantly and find it creates physical problems in the hand, fingers, arm, etc. Outside of this interview with Chad, there is no other info about the Moustrap on the company’s website. Actually, the website is only a picture of the mouse and a preorder button. Clicking the preorder button did not work for me 1/19/2023. This suggests to us that the company might have been using CES 2024 to judge the interest in producing such a mouse on a larger scale. The suggested retail for the Moustrap is $499.99 and in the video the gentlemen suggests buying two of them.

So you know about VR, how about XR w/the Zapbox?
The guy in the photo is using his Zapbox with his iPhone. Huh? What is Zapbox? You’ll learn a lot about it on this week show, and here’s some info from the company: At just $79.99, Zapbox changes everything you know about XR. Zapbox is a smartphone-powered headset that offers capabilities previously only associated with much more expensive headsets. This lowers the barrier to entry for the100s of millions of developers, designers and XR enthusiasts who already own an iPhone11 or above. You’ll find many more details at the company website. Chad was excited about this, especially considering the price of under $80.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
During our CES shows we think it’s fun to review a video from years ago, and then do a web search if the product is still available. For this week we go back 7 years to CES 2017. Here’s that post from back then:
The OjO Scooter I saw at Showstoppers at CES 2017 looks like a well-designed way to travel. It has a lot of features for under $2000. It’s bike lane-friendly and offers zero emissions. Now I didn’t get to ride one, but I did get info from the company spokesperson and fact sheets. It can quickly accelerate up to 20 MPH and go 25 miles on a single charge. It supports up to 300+ pounds, which OJO says it unique in this category. Requires no license. There’s an onboard battery and patented charger with retractable cord and plug. You’ll see the plug outlet in the video. Basically riders can charge the scooter at any standard 110V wall outlet. There are three speed modes levels for any rider: Eco Mode for beginners, Touring Mode to maximize distance and Sport Mode for peak performance. There are extras including dual integrated waterproof Bluetooth speakers, voice response system, LED front and rear lights, a USB port for charging phone, a motion activated alarm, wireless key fob and a patented removable seat system that converts the scooter into a stand up only experience. There is also an optional rear basket accessory for items riders need to carry. Available in seven colors. MSRP $1,999.99.

And how about the OJO Scooter. Is it still around? A fan found one of them online for $999.00, but as Chad asked, “do you want to buy a scooter with a battery that’s probably 7 years old?”. My guess is probably not.
