Giz Wiz Show #1972, Thursday January 25, 2024
Our 2nd ALL CES 2024 Show!
As noted last week, CES 2024 had 4300+ exhibitors and brought 135,000+ attendees! And those attendees included Chad and our producer/videographer Josh Cheney. Here are 4 more brand new gadgets they saw at the show.
Xebec Give Your Laptop A Lot More Screen Space!
We’ve talked about Xebec on The Giz Wiz Show before, but Chad found a brand new system from the company at CES 2024. Called SNAP, it’s great for laptop users have a need for a lot of screen space. What’s neat about this new system is that it’s a SNAP to add one or two more monitors to your laptop. It’s installed with a simple tension bracket that clips on to your laptop cover. The company says it’s a 15 second operation to do that. Once the bracket is in place you can easily and magnetically snap one or two more screens onto your laptop. The 13.3-inch Snap screens have a 1920 x 1080 resolution and a 60 Hz refresh rate. Each screen connects to the laptop with a single USB-C cable. You can snap it on in portrait or landscape mode really quickly. Like in a snap!! It is not inexpensive. A one screen system is $549 and the two screen system is $999.00. In the video on this week’s show you’ll also see a lot other uses for the Snap bracket that Xebec is working on.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
During our CES shows we think it’s fun to review a video from years ago, and then do a web search if the product is still available. For this week we go back 8 years to CES 2016. Here’s that post from back then:
The company says that their TempTraq device is only wearable Bluetooth thermometer that continuously monitors body temperature and provides convenient alerts to give parent’s peace of mind. It also allows a sick child the rest they need to get better. A soft comfortable patch is placed under the baby’s arm where it continuously senses, records and transmits temperature information using Bluetooth technology. The info gathered is sent to a compatible smart device. This allows parents to monitor their sick child from the next room via the TempTraq app on a device up to 40-feet away, every 10 seconds for 24-hours. Alerts will let a parent know when a child’s temperature is higher than desired. Parents may conveniently monitor multiple thermometers simultaneously, and also email temperature data to healthcare professionals or family members with one touch. $24.99. They are one-time use patches.

Are they still around? We did a web search after we watched the video. The website is still there and it has a date of 2024, but there doesn’t seem to be a way to buy or order the product.
