The Giz Wiz #2078, Recorded Thursday Feb 5, 2026
On this week’s show, we start with a look at the 2026 New York Boat Show!
The show was scheduled for January 21 to 25, but it closed a day early because of the huge NYC snow storm that closed a lot of the city.
I roamed the boat show floor looking for unusual things, and found a Avalon 23′ pontoon boat with “the floating flame”, a BBQ pit said to be the only one approved for boats, or something like that. But, as you’ll see in the video, a company spokespersons there’s really no laws for or against fire pits on boats, but they’re the only company doing it right now…. You can check their website all the details yourself if you’re interested. Because wakes on the Hudson River with tugs, sightseeing boats, even small freighters, I’d never have an open flame on a boat I owned unless it was Coast Guard approved. When I vsited the Floating Flame website, the device had a MSRP of $1199.00.

RFID Protection – You May Not Need It…..
But If You’re Worried, Here Are Two Possible Solutions
There’s the Luumzai 16 Piece RFID Blocking Sleeves Set.
You get 10 Credit Card Holders & 4 Passport Protectors, plus two clear plastic sleeves which I guess you use to put your company ID card in a secure sleeve until you need to show it. The company says their Luumxai RFID Blocking Sleeves are made of aluminum foil waterproof material to protect credit cards, debit cards, etc. Slim profile design fits easily into your wallet or purse without taking up extra space. Kit of 16 pieces is just $4.98. On Amazon it got 4.6 Stars out of 5 from more than 3750 reviews.
Another choice:
The RUNBOX Slim RFID Leather Wallet.
This 2 ID window wallet is said to be equipped with advanced RFID SECURE Technology. That’s a unique metal composite, engineered specifically to block 13.56 MHz or higher RFID signals and protect the valuable information stored on RFID chips from unauthorized scans. License and ID cards will be protected effectively. The Giz Wiz has no way to test those claims, but it got an amazing 4.5 stars out of 5 stars from over 18,225 reviews! It was under $27.00 on 2/7/26 on Amazon. And there were about 3 dozen choices of colors and patterns.

A True Pocket-sized Phone Charger + A Great Charge 3 Devices At Once Charger
You’ll hear the whole story about why I wanted a really tiny phone charger on this week’s show. Spoiler Alert! I did find one, from TNTOR. Amazon says it’s the: “Thinnest Portable Charger Ever. A Credit Card Size power bank weighing only 2.58oz. Easily fits into your pocket, pouch and wallet.” I agree with all that except “fits easily into your wallet.” But this charger is amazingly small and has a built-in USB-C cable. It’s just a 2500mAh battery, but it’s perfect for emergency use. It’s inexpensive too, at $17.99 as of 2/7/26.
If you need a bigger phone charger, the chatroom and Chad were really impressed with the
Iniu Ultra Slim 45W Fast Charging with Attached USB C Cable. With dual USB-C ports, both can be used for input and output, plus a USB-A port, it can charge three devices at once time with it’s 10000 mAh battery. But wait there’s more. Chad loved that the carry strap is actually the double-sided USB-C charging cable. It held in place magnetically. And finally, it has an LED flashlight function too. And it’s INEXPENSIVE!! It was $20.99 on Amazon as of 2/7/26, but that price can change at any time.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
It’s February and Chad’s new Cheap Gadget Theme for the month, voted on by our loyal Patreaon members is: Fun Holiday Gifts Chad received from family and friends.
The first fun gadget is the HICE Drink Chiller. On Amazon, this is called a Rapid Beverage Hyper Spin Instant Can & Bottle Cooler. Chad said he reviewed something like this long ago, but it was battery operated. He liked that this one has a hand crank, so require no batteries, or recharging needed. You’ll see Chad’s demo, and find out if you spin a can of soda for like a two, will it ‘explode’ when you pop it open. It’s said to be fine for cooling – Soda, Beer & Water. Chad found it on Amazon where it sells for $14.95.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
Dick’s Gadget Warehouse:
My find at Dick’s Gadget Warehouse this week, turned out to be two gadgets.
The chatroom knew all about one of them, the iPod Touch. Many in chat owned one. There were many versions available over the years. On the show you’ll learn how I got my 4th generation iPod Touch as a gift.
In the package with my iPod Touch with the Xtreme Mac 3 in 1 Micro Dock. It could hold, charge and play music from the iPod touch through it’s tiny dual 1.5″ speakers. Amazingl,y both devices still worked! Several in chat said, I have to find my old iPod Touch and see if it works too! Of course, there’s not been an update available for iPod Touch for a lot of years! My iPod Touch 4th Generation came out in 2010 and sold for $229.00 or about $341.00 in today’s money. The Xtreme Mac 3 in 1 Micro Dock from back then had a MSRP of $59.99.

Letter of the week:
Hi everyone, I really enjoy your show.
For some reason youtube directed me to a now 5 year old documentary on Eddy Goldfard, the inventor of over 800 toys, including the Yakity Yak Teeth, Kerplunk and the Bubble Gun. Really interesting life of inventing so many toys. He’s now 103 years old!
For those who haven’t seen the documentary on him you can find it on the website below
