Giz Wiz Show #1979, Thursday March 14, 2024
This show is show #3 of year 19!! And we celebrate with a brand new set designed by OMG Chad himself!
The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006! If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you’d like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we have zero ads) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page. There’s a PayPal link there too. Thank you! www.gizwiz.tv.
We start the show with one of everybody’s favorite — a “What The Heck Is It?”
(Spoiler alert! It’s) Rechargeable Hand Warmers! Wait, isn’t it soon Spring?
Yes but, it’s not warm everywhere, and I have a good second reason for showing these 2 in 1 Electric Hand Warmers. First a bit about them. They’re rechargeable and they’re called 2-in-1 because they can be used alone or the two can be snapped together for a single hand warmer. The 2000mAh x2 rechargeable batteries offer 6-12 hours of continuous heat depending on your heat setting. The company says temperature ranging from 35°C to 55°C or 95-131°F. I also like these because they heat quickly and are thin enough to fit inside a wide variety of gloves. And the best part? They’re were under $10.00 a pair on 3/24/24. Great to buy now for a holiday gift. They are even some color options available.

Asus introduces a new feature rich laptop w/ dual displays!
Meet the new ASUS Zenbook Duo Laptop with Dual 14” OLED Touch Screen Displays.
You’ll see this impressive computer on this week’s show. When I first open the laptop, it looks like a typical laptop. Then I remove the magnetic liftoff Bluetooth keyboard to reveal a second 14” OLED monitor. The keyboard is back-lit at the touch of a button, with several light level choices. There’s even a built-in kickstand. The Intel Core Ultra 7-155H processor is paired with Intel Arc graphics to enhance tasks with AI capabilities. There’s 1TB SSD of storage and 16GB of RAM. Asus says their 75Wh battery provides up to 13.5 hours of video playback in Laptop mode and 10.5 hours in Dual Screen mode. And there are plenty of ports with Fast-Charge technology, accessible through the Thunderbolt 4 USB-C ports. There’s even a full USB-A port which I already found a use for! See the Asus page on Amazon for the exact details. There are two models. The Ultra 7 CPU model was available for $1499.99 on 3/15/24. The Duo model with the Ultra 9 CPU is listed on the same page, but came up as ‘unavailable’ on 3/15/24. But these models are new and popular so I assume both should be up on Amazon soon, or might even be there now when you check the link below.

Yes, another “What The Heck Is It?”
Hate Winding Up Excess Appliance Cord. Try Cord Wrappers!
What are Cord Wrappers? They’re easy-to-use cord keepers for appliances when you put them away! They can also hide the excess cord of appliances you keep on the counter. The company say the 1.5″ mounting adhesive withstands up to 212°F so they can work safely on your toasters, slow cookers, mixers, etc. Dimensions: 3” wide and 1.5” tall. Available in black & white. But wait, there’s more. The scalloped edge holds the plug to prevent the cord from unwinding. A pack of 2 was $14.99 on 3/13/24. They’re cheaper in larger bundles as you’ll see on Amazon.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
It’s March and for Chad’s new March Crappy Corner Theme our Patreons have voted and picked is: Cheap Office Gadgets.
Chad’s 2nd Cheap Office Gadget is: The Nelko Mini Thermal Label Printer.
Chad likes this mini label maker. It’s a wireless Bluetooth device small enough to slip into a pocket, allowing printing anytime, anywhere. You download the app to use it, but there’s one for either iOS or Android. It charges via USB-C, which of course, Chad loves. But Chad says the thermal printed labels are on the ‘thin’ side and it seems replacement rolls of thermal paper are expensive and might be hard to find. And it can only print black text. You’ll see it in action on this week’s show and get a lot more details as Chad does a demo. It was under $20 on 3/15/24.
