Wow! This show is show #8 of year 19!! (So, big deal.)

On this week’s show
If you love gadgets, you need to love batteries!
Here’s a great way to test them! I like this DIYfull Battery Tester because it has a very nice digital charge display that is much more detailed than the usual ‘weak or good’ you see on many battery testers. It is not only suitable for the ordinary AA or AAA, but includes C, CR123A, D, 9V, N, CR2, CRV3, 2CR5, CR-P2 cylindrical battery testing, and a wide variety of button cell batteries. As you’ll see in my demo, just place a battery into the battery detector and it will quickly show the status of your batteries’ health by the using a row of black bars. A note on Amazon says this device is not for use with rechargeable batteries. MSRP: $16.99, but I used a discount coupon, which was still there on 4/26/24, for 20% off. It came to $13.59 before tax.

A Chad Extra!
Chad finds a gadget he’s crazy about! It’s the reMarkable 2 Paper Tablet.
Chad loves this digital tablet to take notes, which he says he does often. Being digital, the pages are endless, just keep scrolling and there’s always a new blank writing surface. It’s not back lit, so you can’t use it in the dark, but Chad said in bright light and even outdoors, there’s no problem reading or writing with it. He also said it’s the thinnest electronic writing device he’s ever seen or used. The company says it’s just 4.7 mm, the world’s thinnest tablet. You’ll have to watch this week’s show to see Chad’s demo and excitement about the product. Now it’s not inexpensive. There’s a model for $499.00, but the high end model which includes the reMarkable 2 with 10.3″ display and the Marker Plus, the reMarkable pen with built-in eraser.
This is the model Chad has and it was $449 on 4/25/24. Check the latest price on Amazon:

These gloves won’t keep you warm, but they can help in another very useful way.
They’re the Koopool rechargeable flashlight gloves they’re constructed with a high-stretch fabric that fits the size of most people’s hands. (They fit my hands perfectly.) These are fingerless gloves, with two ultra-bright LEDs, each one emitting about 9 lumens. You could find these useful for night running, dog walking, camping, gadget construction or repair, and of course, for a power outage emergency. I’m sure people will find many more uses for these handy gloves. I reviewed a pair of LED gloves like these 4 years ago, but that pair used button batteries, which seemed to be dead just when you needed them. What’s different about these gloves is that they’re USB-C rechargeable. The 150 MAH rechargeable battery in each glove can be charged with a special double plug to charge both glove lights at one time. MSRP: $17.99, but I paid $8.99 with 50% off coupon that was still there on 4/25/24.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
Chad’s April Crappy Corner Theme voted on by our loyal Patreons for Chad’s Cheap Gadget Theme is Useful Gadgets On Sale!
Chad’s 4th Cheap On Sale Gadget is the Cup Noodles Mini Humidifier.
There was much talk in the chatroom about the name of the soup product . Most thought, including me, that it was Cup ‘O Noodles, but in fact, it is Cup Noodles. Now soup is not often considered a gadget, but this Cup Noodles is one. It’s a mini humidifier. You still put water in the cup, not to make soup, but to make mist. It’s powered via an included micro-USB cable. There is no power brick, so you can plug it into a computer, or external power brick. There’s one wick already instilled, and you get 3 extras. How does it work? Chad does a complete demo on this week’s show. Chad found it at close-out for $6 at Marshalls. Finding this exact product on line is difficult and when I did, it was like $30 to $60. There’s a pretty close version on Amazon that Chad found and that link is below. It was $19.99 on 4/26/24.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
Our email this week is from Jeffrey Slomovitz who writes:
Good Evening Gentlemen:
I want to share the following Gadget Warehouse video. This was something that I originally thought would be useful when trying to fall asleep. I tried using sound machine and even earbuds but a sound machine kept my wife awake and earbuds are uncomfortable.
It was worth a try – a great concept that involves hiding a speaker under a pillow. The company says it would disturb your partner. They are correct because my wife couldn’t hear it but neither did I. The other issue is that it kept moving throughout the night if I moved the pillow myself. The battery doesn’t even last an entire night as well. The only time I will be happy with the product is when I’m packing it up to send back.
Thank you, Jeff

The Giz Wiz found that gadget here, but watch Jeff’s video before you decide if you want to purchase it. Amazon has it marked as a “Frequently returned item”.
