The Giz Wiz #2086, Recorded Thursday April 2, 2026
We Start The Show With A Visit To The New York International Auto Show.
I didn’t know what to expect when I saw that there would be an unveiling of the Honda Fastport at 1:30PM on Press Day at the New York International Auto Show. Turns out, it’s pretty small, and doesn’t need gas. That seems a good thing at the current gas prices. It turns out this Honda vehicle isn’t even aimed at the average driver. The Honda Fastport eQuad, is a compact electric cargo vehicle for urban deliveries. It offers assisted speeds up to 12 mph and 23 miles of range. It’s powered by a 250 Watt engine, with regenerative braking. It has modular cargo configurations, and an enclosed rider cabin, a highly adaptable solution for dense urban environments. So maybe I see one delivering Amazon packages toward the end of this year. Yes, it’s a total business to business venture from Honda. But on this week’s show you’ll see plenty of old classic cars. Never owning a car in my life, (but I did own 26 boats over 50 years) I found the stranger stuff down on level 1 at the Auto Show at the Javits Center. It’s open until Sunday, April 12th, 2026.

Wow! Two Totally Different Gadgets, But One Completed Project.
First, meet the neat SONGMICS Spice Racks.
My refrigerator was getting very crowded and I need to add more shelf space. I saw these spice racks on Amazon designed mainly for use in cupboards. But since they had a vented top with a nice design, they would work in my fridge. They make full use of empty vertical space and can double your storage space in many situations. They’re 9″D x 12.6″W x 6.1″H and made of sturdy metal. The company says they’re able to support up to 22 lb per shelf. The legs need to be screwed on, and the shelves can be screwed together into a stack of two. You see how it all works on this week’s show. They’re available in 5 colors, and 4 shelves were $29.99 as of 4/3/26.

Here’s something very handy to put spice racks, or even furniture, together!
It’s the BEYOND Electric Screwdriver from Black+Decker.
PulseTV says you can assemble your furniture 3x faster with this B+D Electric Screwdriver!
It works with Hex Keys & Drill Bits, but they say, “This Versatile Electric Screwdriver isn’t like your average power drill. While this does fit standard drill bits, the specially designed chuck accommodates L-shaped hex keys and S-shaped ones” The kit includes 5 Drill Bits and 1 Hex Wrench. It has a bright built-in LED and has a forward and reverse switch. It charges via Micro USB, not the newer USB-C. I think it works well and has a great price. I saw it advertised for a much as $48.00, but on PulseTV, I paid just $17.99, plus shipping. I think it was $5.00 shipping.

EMAIL OF THE WEEK:
Mike Carty emails us about how much money was raised to develop the Author Clock that was the warehouse video a couple of weeks ago.
Hello Dick and Chad,
I wanted to contribute some information about the Author Clock from Episode #2084.
It was an originally a Kickstarter project (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/authorandco/author-clock-a-novel-way-to-tell-time) with $1,316,465 in pledges from 8.254 backers and then moved to Indiegogo
(https://www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/mechanicaldesignlabs-21813165/author-clock-a-novel-way-to-tell-time) with an additional $2,250,000 in pledges from 12954 backers.
It was quite the project and took several years for them to create and produce. The quotes were submitted mostly by the backers of the project. There were many delays in production and shipping with shipping costs being much higher than originally forecast. In the end I paid over $50 for shipping with insurance plus $234 for the large version of the clock. It was shipped in January 2024 and I think it arrived sometime that February.
They are also currently for sale on the MoMA website.

So the $5 thrift store find by Jeff was quite a deal.

PS The comments on both platforms are quite the read.
