We kicked the show off with a What The Heck Is It? Gadget!
It turned out to be the Dreamfarm Hullapit 3-in-1 Strawberry Huller, Cherry & Olive Pitter. It’s cleverly designed, with a cone shaped stainless steel blade designed to remove bitter strawberry cores & fruit blemishes with minimal waste. But wait, it does more. It pits all sizes of cherries & olives with a spring-loaded plunger. You’ll see me demo it on fresh ‘out of the package’ strawberries, without any rehearsal! See the result when you watch this week’s show. It also catches expelled stones & pits to reduce fruit splatter for stain-free hulling and pitting! It was $12.95 when I bought mine on Amazon.

A Good Looking Way To Add An External Hard Drive To Your Present Computer.
I had an old Lenovo tower hooked up to my newer Legion computer, to get older files and photos. But I found I needed it less and less. Since I wanted to give the computer away (to Mo, Giz Wiz most loyal fan, for a project he was working on), I found a great way to simple take out the hard drive and hook it directly to my newer Legion PC. It’s the SABRENT USB 3.0 to SATA External Hard Drive Docking Station. It supports all 2.5 and 3.5-inch SATA drives. The company says to make sure you have the latest firmware installed for this dock to work with larger capacities. Firmware updates can be downloaded on their website. I didn’t need to install any new software. My WD 1 TB drive connected quickly and I can view all my files and photos. It was about $25.00 when I bought mine on Amazon.

I Don’t Want To Pry, But If I Have To, I Bought A Kit To Do It!
I thought I might need a prying tool
when I started my ‘remove the hard drive from my computer’ project. So I bought the STREBITO Spudger Pry Tool Kit. This kits are designed to help with disassembling a variety of electronics – iPhone, android phone, laptop, tablet, apple watch, iPad, iPod, Macbook, computer, LCD screen, battery and more. Check out their full page on Amazon. Something I learned there is that there are kits with tools designed to break before they can break something expensive you’re trying to open. The kit I bought contained 1 x spudger, 1 x metal spudger, 1 x hook tool, 1 x tweezers, 1 x brush, 1 x cleaning cloth, 1 x pry tool, 1 x metal pry tool, 2 x opening tools and 2 x opening picks. It was under $8.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
It’s April Time for a new theme for Chad’s Crappy Corner. On this show we learned what the winning theme, voted on by our loyal Patreons was! And it is – Ta Da! Gadgets for the rain. I guess some folks who voted for that were thinking about ’ April Showers’.
Chad’s 1st Gadget For The Rain is Rite in the Rain Weatherproof Spiral Notebook.
You’ll see Chad in an outdoor shower, writing on the all-weather paper that won’t turn to mush when wet. It’s said to repel water, sweat, grease, mud, and even survive the accidental laundry mishap. (That sounds almost impossible, but that’s what they say.) Writing tips from the company: When wet, use a standard #2 pencil or an all-weather pen. Standard ballpoints and permanent markers will work when paper is dry. Water-based inks will bead or wash off Rite in the Rain Paper. There’s a huge assortment of Rite In The Rain notepads and notebook on Amazon, started at about $8.00.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse
This great ‘first ever warehouse video’ is from Andy Egizi and Mary Young. It’s all about a brand new mini portable projector they bought!
Hi Dick and Chad,
This is my first submission – a little rough but I pieced it together.
A few years ago I bought a Nebula outdoor projector (Nebula is a an Anker brand) which I use pretty regularly. This gadget could never replace the Nebula but it might be a nice option for travel option to pack away in an overnight bag. My wife also thought it would be a nice, portable way to project images for art projects.
I haven’t received the extras yet – I paid a little more for the wireless HDMI dongle and the early bird stretch goals included a portable screen. Hopefully they will add to the experience.
Love the show. I noted in the video that I’ve been listening since the daily days – long enough in the past that I have some Match Game cards in my collection of stuff.

Email of the week:
Dear Dick and Chad,
This is a picture of a Kurzweil Reading Machine from the 70’s. I taught blind and vision impaired children in the Memphis City Schools for 45 years and back in the day this was considered advanced technology. As you can see, it was huge – but life changing for the kids who got to use it. I have included a paragraph about the device below the picture to help explain how it worked and help you understand how exciting this was for us in education. We thought we were so cool at the time to have access to this “miracle technology”! Ha ha! If only we knew then what was ahead of us!! (Most of the vision impaired people I know use their Phones to gain independence these days – also miracle devices!)
Big fan – keep on keeping on! VikiP
(By the way – the brain is on the left, the scanner is in the center, and the controls and speaker are on the right.)
Info from the Internet: “The Kurzweil Reading Machine was the first machine to convert printed text into synthetic speech. It was invented by Ray Kurzweil in 1975. The machine was the size of a small dishwasher and had its own built-in scanner and computer.
How it works
- The machine used a CCD flatbed scanner to capture printed text
- Optical character recognition (OCR) technology converted the text into digital form
- A text-to-speech synthesizer converted the digital text into speech”
