We Started This Week’s Show With A Great Summer “What The Heck Is It?” Gadget

It’s the ASOMST 5 in 1 LED folding solar camping lantern. This kind of fat flashlight offers five lighting modes – warm white, daylight white, cool white, bright flashlight, & emergency flashing. With a 4800 mAh battery it also offers charging out, perfect in case of an emergency, or power outage. Also clever is stepless dimming that allows you to adjust the brightness from 10% to 100% quickly. With the 3 large fold out solar panels, the lantern can be charged quicker under direct sunlight. It can also be changed via the USB-C cable (Included). Fully charge the camping lamp under direct sunlight for 15 hours or 5 hours via the type-C port, it can run for 10-90 hours depending on features you’re using. Red LED charging lights keep you informed of the charging progress. I like this a lot and the price is decent. I paid less than $22 and it was still that price on 5/23/24.

The company is Anmeery. (Yes, weird Amazon spelling.) What’s different about these LED lights is that you don’t have to make the decision of buying ‘warm white’ or ‘cool white’. When you install them, click it on to either kind of light you want to go on when it detects motion. These are not a bright as some others I have used, but they should be perfect as indoor,closet lights, under cupboard lights and for other small spaces. Once activated by motion, they stay on for 24 seconds unless they detect additional motion They’re USB-C rechargeable and comes with a 3 light charging station which is powered by the included USB-C cable. Something else included in the kit, which I think is useful are five magnetic strips with a sticky backing. The lights themselves already have a magnetic backing so this makes it easy to install & remove them quickly for charging. Set of 5 lights, charging station and 2 cables is $39.99 as of 5/23/24. UPDATE! When we recorded the show Thursday 5/23 & when this was written 5/24 there was a 50% of coupon for these lights. At least 3 people watching the show immediately bought them. I don’t know how long that coupon will be there. Things change quickly on Amazon!

Chad’s New May theme is Cheap Gadgets From Off-Price Retailers!

Chad’s 3rd off-price gadget is the QFX Solar Flashlight w/ FM Radio and Bluetooth Speaker. But wait, there’s more it also has an TF card slot for your music files. And there’s a telescoping antenna to help you achieve the best radio reception at your location. Although it does a lot of stuff, Chad found one big problem. There are just four buttons to control everything! That means pushing a button quickly for one function, or pushing it and holding it longer for a totally different function. With so many functions, this is a LOT to remember! You’ll see Chad demo some of these features on this week’s show. This device can be found selling other places for a much as $29.99. Chad paid just $8.99 at his local Ross Store.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show!

1. Video can be ANYTHING about a gadget: I bought a piece of crap. I bought a gadget I love. I have an old gadget I can’t part with because it was ‘high tech’ years ago! Even a ‘What The Heck Is It? Gadget.

2. Videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long in Horizontal Format! Low production value is fine, but we need to hear you and see your gadget clearly! You can be in the video if you like.

3. Post your Video on YouTube and click ‘unlisted’ when you upload it if you want, but not “Private” or we won’t be able to see it. Send us the URL link from YouTube.

4. If we show your video (and we show 99% of them) and live in the US or Canada you’ll also get an autographed current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of the US & Canada, I’ll autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res image. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific!
