Those drink coaster looking gadgets are actually fidgets toys for kids that offer spinning wheels and a way to learn how to add, divide, multiply and divide! Very clever and inexpensive too!  Great for home practice or as a classroom tool for students with learning disabilities or other obstacles. The fidget spinners are also great for travel days as they can be stored in your purse or backpack. A set of 18 was under $12 on Amazon on 9/5/25.

Autographing dark color MAD Magazine covers is hard to do. So I did a web search and these pens came up as a solution. The Gelly Roll Retractable pen seemed like a good idea, so I bought a pack of ten, in three different colors. These retractable click gel pens have vibrant glitter, metallic, silver or gold color, or plain white. All said to flow creamy smooth onto paper. Did it act that way when autographing MAD magazine covers? You’ll see on this week’s show!

It’s the 2-in-1 Headlight – Fan designed to be worn on your head. Amazon says: “STAY COMFORTABLE AND COOL AND LIGHTED on your outdoor adventures with our rechargeable headlamp and fan combo. Small fan, travel fan and head lamps led rechargeable both tilt to direct light and cool air right where you need it.”  Hmmm, really?  As you’ll see on this show it looks pretty weird when you actually wear it. How did it work? Well, it didn’t. After charging it all night and turning it on, it was DOA. I was disappointed because I actually wanted to see if it worked and was it really useful. But instead, I’m getting my money back. It’s just under $20 on Amazon, but $12 on Deal Genius as of 9/5/25.

Here’s just a bit of what it can do – actually, I’m going to leave that to Chad to tell on this week’s show, because it’s a ton of stuff. One of Chad’s favorite the Voice Control Remote: Let’s you easily search for shows, control your TV, and get answers using the voice remote with Google Assistant. But wait, there’s more! The price knocked me and chatroom over. It about $20, and there’s a cheaper, and a more expensive version available, depending on what features you want. We found this gadget both CHEAP and REALLY IMPRESSIVE for the low cost!

Driving a real locomotive was a bonus on this trip to San Francisco, but the main reason was to do a spot on The Screen Savers with Leo Laporte and Patrick Norton. My theme was sleep gadgets and for gadgets available back then, in 2014, a few are them were noteworthy. And you were a fan of that show, it should be a lot of fun memories. Even the studio audience was in on one of the jokes when we recorded this episode.

1. Video can be ANYTHING about a gadget: I bought a piece of crap. I bought a gadget I love. I have an old gadget I can’t part with because it was ‘high tech’ years ago! Even a ‘What The Heck Is It? Gadget.

2. Videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long in Horizontal Format! Low production value is fine, but we need to hear you and see your gadget clearly! You can be in the video if you like.

3. Post your Video on YouTube and click ‘unlisted’ when you upload it if you want, but not “Private” or we won’t be able to see it. Send us the URL link from YouTube.

4. If we show your video (and we show 99% of them) and live in the US or Canada you’ll get an autographed current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of the US & Canada, I’ll autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res image. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific!
