Giz Wiz Show #1784 June 18, 2020 Independent Show #265
Last week I started my saga of ‘hooking a garden hose to a indoor (kitchen or bathroom) sink’! You’ll learn how it finally worked out on this week’s show. It was a big help when I added the 2ways 90 degree Elbow. I knew there was a weak spot in my setup the first time I tried it. It was where the garden hose connected at the sink and had to bend 90 degrees toward the yard. I bought the 90 degree elbow to eliminate that severe bend in the hose. But I didn’t it install it fast enough as you’ll learn in this week’s show. According to the company, their 2ways 90 Degree Elbow has coated the fully metal internal structure with TPR rubber providing a good grip, as well as adding the possibility of bumps, falls, and scrapes without getting ‘injured.’ The shut on/off provides an additional convenience of not making trips back and forth to and from the spigot.’ ….They company adds: One of our customer’s most popular uses are for RVs and boats. Due to the fact that RVs and boats have tight water compartments, there is not a lot of room to place the hose, which usually results in kinks and stoppages. The 90 degree angle give you the maneuverability which frees up space. It’s also good for washing machines which are too close to the wall, as well as low clearance spigots which might cause you to scrape your knuckles. It’s was about $14.00 on 6/20/20.

Instead of that 7 piece kit I talked about on last week’s show, this single fitting let me attach a garden hose to my faucet. Maybe it was just luck! https://amzn.to/3fFT6ey

Meet the “My 1st Camera Insta 2”
When the company asked me if I wanted to try out their new myFirst Camera Insta 2 12MP Kid’s Instant Print Camera, I said sure, sounds good to me! What’s neat about this camera is it uses thermal printing paper so a black & white print can as little as a penny if you buy the paper in bulk! (It shoots color photos, but it doesn’t print in color.) It also supports microSD cards up to 32GB. As you’ll see in this week’s show the photos are not great, but I think kids will love this camera. And if you happen to take a great photo, then use the SD card to print out a really decent copy. But kids will also love the 10-second printing! You get 3 rolls of thermal paper in the box with the camera insta 2, good for 240 shots. But wait, there’s more! There’s also full HD video recording with sound, dual lens for selfies, and choice of 3, 6, 9 or 12 MP setting. You’ll learn about more features on this week’s show. It comes in pink & teal, which the company calls blue. MSRP is $99.90. There was a $10 off the price of the camera for signing up for their newsletters when I visited the company website but I don’t know how long that will be up there. Also for now it seems only to be available there, as of 6/19/20.
Selfie taken with the Insta 2 camera.

APC Goes A Bit Weird With Their New Surge Protector. (At least to me.)
When I saw this new U-shaped APC Surge Protector Power Station, I was intrigued because it just looked weird. So weird in fact, I spent $36 to see one in person. It has 6 AC Outlets / 1 USB C + 2 USB A Charging Ports. Charging Ports provide 4. 8A total charging power (sufficient for charging smartphones & tablets, but not computers). The box says there’s a $50,000 equipment protection policy. One Amazon description says $5, but box says $50,000. This APC surge protector is recommended for use with Desk, monitor base, or office partitions, but you judge how useful it might be as you watch this week’s show. A version is also available with 4 USB Type A charging ports and no type-C charging port. Available in black or white. I paid about $35, but the price is all over the place. Also, be sure to check out the white version which was about half the price of the black version when I checked.

Chad’s Crappy Corner & His Next Cheap Gadget For His June Theme: Outdoor fun!
Chad’s June theme is Cheap Outdoor Gadgets and today’s pick is Funatic Foam!
Here’s what the company says about it: The colorful, scented, Funatic Foam brings bubbly fun to the bathtub or the backyard. Kids can spray foam made from real soap into the palms of their hands or blast it up to 8 feet when playing outside. It won’t sting kids’ eyes and is designed to be safe for indoor or outdoor use.
And Chad’s take? Chad liked this! He took it outdoors and you’ll see him using it on this week’s show. He did say it left his hands very sticky, so it’s best that when you or your kids use this, you have water handy for washing up. It comes in three varieties, and Chad got his at Target for $9.99. When I did a web search a similar product from Mr. Bubbles keep coming up, so perhaps you could check that out if you can’t find Funatic Foam.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
