Giz Wiz Show #1804 November 5, 2020 Independent Show #284
From the Holiday of Play Virtual Toy Event, Comes The Amazing Present Pets!
This is one of the most amazing toy unboxings I have ever seen! But first a bit of info from the company: Discover Present Pets, the only gifts that unbox themselves! Waiting inside each Glitter Pup themed box is an adorable interactive puppy just for you. She is so excited to meet you, she paws her way out of her own gift box! With one of two possible Glitter Pups available in every box, you won’t know which puppy you’re getting until she unboxes herself. To start the big reveal, unwrap the box’s outer layer and pull the gift tag. The box will instantly start to shake as your sweet pup eagerly paws her way out! Once out, discover your pet’s playful personality as you bond and play together. Featuring over 100 sounds and actions, Present Pets are a great gift for kids aged 5 and up. MSRP $49.99, but check online. The Glitter version seem to be just $39.99 at Amazon, the one I showed now back to $49.99. Based on the unboxing technology in this toy, I, Chad and the chatroom expected the price to be much higher.

Lots of People Like To See Mr. Roger’s Mug. You Can Too.
But this is a different kind of mug. It’s the Mister Rogers Sweater Changing Mug that features favorite Mister Rogers quotes, song lyrics, and images from the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. The 14 oz. ceramic mug comes in a colorful box great for gift giving. And it’s said to be: Officially licensed. The more interesting part of this mug is when you add hot water. As you watch you will slowly see Mister Rogers change from a suit jacket into his cardigan, ready to make it a snappy new day! Even though it got more than 4 stars, a lot of the reviews point out that the printing on the mug is very delicate and must be carefully hand-washed. Many said they were disappointed at how quickly the color-changing application wore off. I’ve only used mine a couple of times, so I’ve had no problems so far. It’s not inexpensive at $15.95. Amazon Prime, so free shipping for members. You can see me do a demo of the mug on this week’s show or at the video link below.

Screen Test – But Not In The Way You Might Think.
I love broadcasting from my Gizneyland studio with all the MAD memorabilia on display in the background. But sometimes a director at the other end of the video call might ask if I have a less busy background. In that case I have to make it very dark behind me or hang a sheet over the area that can be seen on camera. But now the solution is way easier. I bought the Roundhill Furniture RD042SL Seto 4-Panel Room Divider Screen. If you do zoom calls, or have meetings in area that don’t have a camera-ready background like a messy kitchen or an unkempt bedroom, this could be the perfect solution. The 4-Panel Screen Room Divider is a perfect way to hide what’s behind you. This stylish 4-panel divider is easy to set up and put away. Although Chad thought was trimmed in stainless or aluminum, it’s actually made with a solid pine wood frame, in a contemporary silver finish. (It’s also available in gold). It looks like the panels are rice paper, but they’re a durable non-woven fabric according to the company. Best of all, you can light it from behind for some great effects, as you’ll see on this week’s show. Dimensions: 72″Wx71″H. It was under $80.00 on Amazon as of 11/4/20. Free delivery, not Amazon Prime.

Chad’s Crappy Corner & His New November Theme as Voted on by Our Loyal Patreons.
For November our loyal Patreons picked “Cheap Thrift Store Gadgets”.If that theme sounds familiar it is. Chad did it about a year and half ago, but people had fun seeing what Chad ended up buying, so they picked that theme again. Chad’s first Cheap Thrift Store Gadget is the Toastmaster Electric Bagel Slicer. As you’ll see on this week’s show, it works really well, but it’s also a big appliance for something that does that one single chore. Chad said he likes it, but he won’t have out on the kitchen counter on a regular basis, just when he’s in a bagel mood. And search ebay it turns out Chad found a real bargain. Used electric bagel slicers from Toastmaster were selling from about $35 to $50. Chad’s price? He paid $7.99 at his local thrift store. See Chad’s dual slicing blade bagel bargain slicer in operation on this week’s show.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.
Hi Dick and Chad,
So I just finished watching last night’s recording of the live stream where one of the gadgets you talked about was a UV sanitizer. I own one and can speak to its effectiveness. I recorded a short video linked below.
I use the sanitizer when I’ve been out and using my phone. Just like I’m going to wash my hands thoroughly when I get home, I’m going to wash anything I’ve had in my hands as well.
Thanks and love the show, Linda Norman

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
