Giz Wiz Show #1805 November 12, 2020 Independent Show #285
On this week’s show three gadgets to help keep you warm as daylight lessens and winter looms. First up, Sky Genius Heated Gloves.
Strangely, the gloves are branded Sky Genius, while Amazon refers to them as BRIGENIUS Heated Gloves. I assume the Sky Genius name is correct since that name is sewn on each glove. These gloves, said to be great for men and women, offer 3 heating levels and a rechargeable 2000 mAh battery in each glove. Included with the gloves is a dual-USB charger so you can charge both batteries at the same time. The charger has a separate LED charging indicator for each battery. The company says the heating elements cover the whole back of the hand & fingers. I certainly felt the heat on my hands, but didn’t have on them long enough to feel heat in the fingers. (It was 58F when we shot the video, so it’s not that cold yet here in NYC.) There’s an LED on the back of each glove which tells you which temperature range they’re set at. Heating Temps and Working Hours from the online info: High (Red) 4-5 Hours 131-140? / Middle(White) 5-6 Hours 122-131? / Low(Blue) 6-8 Hours 113-122? These gloves are updated for touch screen use with full fingers and should work on any smart device. (I had no trouble using them to make a call on my Android phone, but I doubt you’ll be able to text easily while wearing them. Under $50, but see below for a possible way to get $10 off.

https://amzn.to/2IFwa46 Be sure to click the “20% off” button that was there on 11/14/20 which reduced the price of the gloves by $10. I paid $39.95 for mine on Amazon. As an Amazon Associate Giz Wiz Biz earns from qualifying Amazon purchases. You pay no more.

The Heated Mouse House.
I showed two of them, so does that make them Heated Mice Houses? No, I believe heated mouse houses is correct. The “Claw” Palotix USB Heated Mouse Pad/Hand Warmer is said to keep your hands warm and cozy, as it heats up to 113 degrees. There’s an integrated wrist pad for comfort and support. The heating element uses computer USB Power, or a 5V phone charger or even a portable power bank. I tried the heated mouse house with a wireless and a wired mouse and they both worked as expected even though they were in the heated enclosure. The mini-heating pad is on the top so it won’t interfere with the mouse pad on the bottom of the device. Check the latest price on Amazon. As on 11/13/20 you could get it for under $10 by using a ‘click for $8 off’ button. That could go away at any time. Hey, it’s Amazon!
The VVS-eLife grey heated mouse garage looks like a sad face or something like that. I bought it because it offered two features ‘the claw’ above didn’t:Temperature control and a adjustable turn-off timer. When turned on, the default temperature is the set to its highest. (There is no indication as to what the actual temperature is, but my guess it’s close to the 113 degrees of the device above.) If you feel that’s too hot, set the switch to medium (green) or low (blue). You can also set the auto time off. The default is 2 hours. You can also set it for 4 or 8 hours. (Don’t know why they skipped 6 hours.) When I received the unit I was surprised to see the timer and temperature setting device is actually an add on. You don’t need to use it at all if you want to plug the device directly into USB. It will be on high when you do that. If you want to adjust the temperature, or the shut-off time, then insert the timer/heat switch between the mouse pad and the USB connecting cable. It was about $20 on 11/13/20.

Here Hear, Music For Your Ear(s).
Another gadget for the weather is the inexpensive MusiCozy. The company says this is the latest version of Musicozy earmuffs, “Adopting advanced noise reduction technique and the superior stereo loud speakers with balanced super bass, dynamic mid-range & crystal clear high notes”, etc., etc. But since the company makes a lot of cold weather music products and since the packaging is obviously well thought out, I figured they have a more reliable product that those that come in unmarked cardboard boxes. I found the sound quite impressive for the low price. They ship with a carry bag and micro USB charging cable. Connecting the charging cable inside one of the ears pieces was a bit of a chore. There’s also a white clip to hold them in a semi closed position. Note how they fold before you take them out of the box which was unexpectedly flat when they arrived. For a 1 to 2 hour charge, the company says you can expect 10 to 12 hours of music play time. At about $23, these are very decent! The price keeps changing by a buck or two on Amazon, as they always so. There are a lot of other choice on Amazon, so you can check them out and check the reviews too.

Chad’s Crappy Corner & his second gadget for his new November Theme.
For November our loyal Patreons picked “Cheap Thrift Store Gadgets”. If that theme sounds familiar it is. Chad did it about a year and half ago, but people had fun seeing what Chad ended up buying, so they picked that theme again. Chad’s second Cheap Thrift Store Gadget is The Perfect Omelet!
The Perfect Omelet is a “As Seen On TV” gadget, that Chad found at his local thrift store for $1.98. It’s said to let you make “Perfect Omelets In Minutes”. And it’s “For Use In Your Microwave.” As you’ll see on this week’s show Chad does a good job making an omelet with it, but it does involve several steps. In the end we all thought his omelet looked good, (you can judge yourself when you watch this week’s show) but I thought it did involve a bit of work. Also although it sells for $4.99 on Amazon, someone in the chatroom said they found one at the dollar store for yes, a dollar. So you might check that out first if you’re interested in buying one.
The one on Amazon looks exactly the same, but I’m not sure it’s from the same company.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
