Giz Wiz Show #1994, Thursday June 27th 2024.
Wow! We’re in year 19 of The Giz Wiz Show! (So, big deal.)

NYC was in the middle of a ten day heat wave, so The Giz Wiz bought another “Air Conditioner”!
I love that the Amazon page refers to it as an Air Conditioner, but when it arrives, the box just says: “Cooling Fan”, which is what it is. Here’s some more info from the company. For Ultimate Convenience LEAEYFE portable air conditioner can be filled with a 40 OZ water and ice cubes in the large water tank to make the cooling easier. (Note: when the water level is too low, the water deficiency protection function will automatically stop spraying the mist) The compact, sleek design allows you to place the air cooler on your office desk, nightstand, coffee table, or kitchen counter. It is lightweight, only 3.19lb, so you can easily carry it around the house or camping. The built-in LED nightlight with 7 fun color options and relaxing sleep environment with 2h/4h/6h/8h intelligent timer. Energy & Money Saving because it operates on 8-10 watts of AC power. Equipped with easy-to-use touch controls to switch between the 3 speed settings & 3 ‘mister’ settings. Plus it includes a remote control. From the Giz Wiz. Remember, this is NOT an air conditioner. It works best when it’s warm or hot, but with low humidity. But it did lower the temperature by a few degrees in our studio. MSRP is $69.99, but if the 30% off coupon is still here, it brings the price to below $50.

I Never Heard of A Car Electric Kettle Before.
A couple of weeks ago on the show I covered the new AeroPress Travel Mug Go. But to use it, you do need hot water. So when I saw the The LINGYOKY Car Kettle I thought this could be a way to have hot water in your car, van, etc. On Amazon it says you can set the temperature range within 86~203F, but doesn’t water boil at 212F? No matter, it did get fairly good reviews, but people said, it takes a lot of time to boil water in it. More info from Amazon: Travel water boiler for car made with food-grade PC plastic material (BPA-free) and 304 stainless steel inner liners to ensure the safety of drinking water. There’s a large LED display making it easy to set the temperature. The side plug design makes it easy to fit into a car cup holder. What made Chad think twice about buying this is a warning on the DC power cord to be careful you don’t burn yourself when removing it. That does make it sound like maybe you shouldn’t buy it. MSRP: $22.99.

Another “water powered” Flashlight, the Aqua-Light.!
We did one or two of these flashlights in the past, but this one seems much better built and much smaller. But you may ask, How Does a Water Powered Battery Work? To activate the Hydracell battery, dip it in water for 15 seconds, shake off any excess water, and install it in the shock resistant aluminum flashlight body. Now, Chad points out that once activated, the battery stays working even if you don’t use the flashlight!! What’s a bit different about this model is that the company says you can dip it up to ten times before the Hydracell battery is spent. I did dip a 2nd time a few days after I 1st used it and the flashlight did work, but it seemed to be a bit less bright. The great thing is that this is perfect for an emergency kit. Because unused, it has a 25 year shelf life! I bought mine on the Pulse TV website. On 6/28/24 they were $9.99 each or two for $15.99. I bought the 2-pack.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
It’s Chad’s Final Cheap Train – or Travel — Gadget.
Chad was impressed with BEVLEDGE. He was drawn to it, by it’s clever name, which describes what it does. It gives you a ledge when you travel by air. It slides in the slots on each side of the airplane window. Chad wasn’t flying anywhere, but he found it does sort of work on a train window. Once you pop it into the window, it has a place to hold multiple items including 2 beverages, cell phone, eyewear, ear pods, and more. The company says it easily fits into the window shade-slots in most major commercial aircraft. Chad also liked that the device folds flat and easily fits into your laptop case or carry-on bag. What he didn’t like was the price: MSRP: $19.99. It seemed to pretty much everyone in chat, including me, that it should sell for less money since it’s such a simple device.
