Giz Wiz Show #1808 December 3, 2020 Independent Show #288
On this week’s show we start with three gadgets billed as “The World’s Smallest”!
We see this company, Super Impulse, at Toy Fair quite often. If you’re not familiar with them, here’s how the company describes one of the toy lines they produce. The World’s Smallest toys collection includes iconic retro brands in tiny working versions. These are the world’s most classic toys in their smallest sizes ever! They’re a retro throwback for grownups and the perfect collectible for kids. And they’re Officially Approved! When I saw “Mattel” & “Fisher-Price” logos on the products I wondered if they got official permissions and now I know they did.) Ages 3 & up. And yes, they actually work! We have 3 of the ‘New for 2020’ additions on this week’s show: World’s Smallest Slinky Dog, World’s Smallest Kerplunk, and World’s Smallest Fisher-Price Viewmaster. (Yes, it works.) Age: 3+ MSRP: $5.99 +.

A Chad Extra On Every Show in December!
Chad went on a spending spree lately and he’s going to share his thoughts on the brand new high tech gadgets he bought, throughout our December shows. We start with a hot seller right now, the iPhone 12 Pro Max! I’ll just give you a few highlights, but watch this week’s show to see the phone and hear all of Chad’s opinions. First off Chad tells folks that if you have a recent iPhone you probably don’t need to upgrade to this latest model; EXCEPT if you’re a nerd. Chad is a nerd and so he had to buy one. Spoiler, he thinks it’s great. (He’s had it for about 3 weeks.) He loves the new flatter look and squared off edges that harken back to earlier iPhones. This new model is 5G capable, takes incredible low light photos, and the wide-angle lens has a motion stabilizer built right into the lens. Never have owned an iPhone, I won’t attempt to list anymore features here. Watch the show to get all the details, including the price which I believe starts at about $1100.00!

The Giz Wiz With A Quickie “What The Heck Is It?”
Do you know what those weird shaped things are? I can tell you they work great! They are the Squeezit Multi Purpose Tube Squeezers. I’ve been using mine for about a month now. No more rolling up the toothpaste tube as tight as possible to get the last bit out. This device can easily reduce waste. The company says it can be used with many collapsible tube products other than toothpaste. Things like cosmetics, lotions, gels, creams, adhesives, paint in a tube and more. They are convenient & easy to use, just slide the end of the tube into the Squeezit. I found it easiest to use once I had used some of toothpaste in the tube. And of course, Squeezit is reusable. On Amazon they sell them in packs of 2, you receive 2 packs of 2 for a total of 4 tube squeezers for about $8.00. Roughly $2 each. But look at other choices on Amazon because there are many other options. The only one I bought and used was the Squeezit, but the others look similar, but not may work as well.

Chad’s Crappy Corner & His New December Theme as voted on by our loyal Patreons.
For December our loyal Patreons picked “Gadgets & Gizmos $10 and under”. Chad’s first pick is the the Hershey’s Chocolate Drink Maker. According to the company it’s designed to help you make delicious hot cocoa or perfectly blended chocolate milk like a pro barista! The drink maker has a frother to blend hot chocolate or cold drinks into rich & creamy perfection! Use with Hershey’s syrup or cocoa mixes & whip up some chocolate bliss. In the box is the drink maker, 2 (paper) cups, and instructions. It requires 3 AA batteries & phillips screwdriver to open the battery compartment (not included.) Ages: 6+
And Chad’s take: Chad wasn’t thrilled with this. His regular mug was too tall to fit into the machine, so he used one of the paper cups that came in the box. Filling it with not too much hot water and a lot of cocoa, the machine did do a good job of mixing them, but the contents almost flew out of the cup, which would have been a real mess. Chad said this thing is so-so. It was just $5 at Five Below, but when he checked online it was sold out. But it might still be available in their stores if you still think you might want to buy one.
I saw it on Amazon, but for almost $22.00 and not Amazon Prime!!

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Get An Autographed MAD Magazine!
Would you like to have a big, mean-sounding guard dog protecting your house without having to worry about feeding him and keeping him happy? There’s where the Sharper Image Radar Watch Dog comes in. No walking, no feeding necessary. When the radar watch dog senses movement it responds with barking. But if the person setting it off doesn’t leave right away, it turns into the sound of a snarling, angry attack dog! You set the volume, the range and choose from the sound of one dog, two dogs or a regular alarm sound. Sharper Image says it senses motion through doors, windows, etc. As you’ll hear in this week’s warehouse video, the (digitized) sound of the dogs barking gets really scary. It operates on AC, adapter included, or 6 D batteries, not included. This device is about 26 years old. Sharper Image copyrighted ‘Radar Watch Dog’ in 1994 ‘as a personal security alarm unit which emits radar waves, is activated by motion detection, and produces the sound of a barking dog’… It sold for $79.95 when it first came out. Maybe I should leave it plugged into AC when I return it to Dick’s Gadget Warehouse. On second thought, naw.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.
