Wow, talk about bargains in bulbs!!
Someone at our local Target store on the upper west side in Manhattan, either had a lot of fun making up ridiculous prices, or maybe followed instructions from above without thinking how weird the pricing of various GE bulbs were. I bought a GE Stained Glass Lightbulb, marked with a MSRP of $599.00 for $5.99. (Yes, you’ll the $599.00 price on this week’s show!) And watch the entire show to see some other wacky pricing. The bulb I bought is a 25W incandescent light bulb, so it’s easily dimmable. As of 10/18/25 it was still $5.99 at Target. And checking Amazon I didn’t find an exact copy, but discovered Stained Glass Lightbulbs seem to be wildly popular.

Didn’t find this exact bulb on Amazon, but never expected to see so many types of ‘stained glass’ bulbs for sale! Check them out: https://amzn.to/4n5RUmU

A Chad Halloween Extra!
Great for Halloween is the Crayola Light-Ups Mummy. It comes with three markers for you to decorate your mummy and there are internal LED’s to make it glow in the dark. (You need 3AAA batteries, not included.) You’ll see Chad unbox his mummy, and then draw some designs on it. After that he flip the switch to light it up. Then you just wipe clean with a damp cloth to start fresh! Chad, me and lots of folks in chat liked this little light-up mummy. There are dozen of other designs on Amazon too. Chad paid $10 for his, but he found it on amazon for about $7.50 as of 10/18/25.

Meet The Big Magic Speed Cube.
It’s also billed as the Giant Magic Speed Cube Color-Matching 3D Sensory Puzzle Box on Amazon.
Yes, this thing is BIG, but not quite as big as in the Amazon photo shown here. It’s approximately 7.1 x 7.1 x 7.1 inches, and weighs 1.9lb. Obviously you’re not going to be spinning this around the way you would do with a regular Rubik’s Cube, but people don’t seem to mind that. It got very decent ratings from more than 700 people. The Magic Cube is said to be an interesting toy to relieve the pressure of work and life for adults. It seems a bit pricey with a MSRP $35.99. But as of 10/18/25 there was a $10+ coupon there.

Chad’s Crappy Corner
It’s October and Chad’s Cheap Theme, voted on by our loyal Patreons, is Cheap Car Gadgets!
Chad’s third cheap car gadget is the Five Below Car Tray + Phone Holder.
It sounds interesting, but after you see Chad’s demo, you probably won’t want to buy one. Among the problems, it’s shaky, not very well built, and the phone holder would only fit a very thin phone, probably without the case. Chad also said that even though the cup holder fitting is adjustable, it really didn’t feel that secure at it’s widest setting. So he rated this car gadget “crappy”, but you’ll see his whole demo on this week’s show. Chad paid $7 at his local Five Below store.

Email of the week:
Hi Dick and Chad,
I was catching up on last weeks episode and saw Chad’s tablet holder gadget which reminded me of my setup for long road trips. Our old minivan had a DVD screen in it, but our new Kia EV9 does not. I wanted to setup something for long road trips so the kids wouldn’t get bored and ended up on this. (See photo) The kids are able to play their Switch or use a Roku, with a phone as the hotspot. Here is what I have purchased for the setup.
Screen: KYY 14” Portable Travel Monitor https://a.co/d/88QUDPN
This is actually a really nice screen that the kids can setup on the table and use with their switch or can be used as a second monitor for a laptop. There are a ton of these if you search for “portable monitor” on Amazon. I didn’t pick this brand for any particular reason. It would probably make for a nice gadget video itself.
Tablet Holder: Lamicall Car Tablet Holder https://a.co/d/gaMIWwN
I originally had one like Chad’s, but the Kia seats have that “neck” or lip that covers the posts so I needed one like this that extends out the side, not straight out back. USB Switch Adapter/Dock: RREAKA 100W Charging Docking Station
This works like your standard dock and allows video out and charging. Case: daydayup Switch Carrying case
The case isn’t important but if viewers were curious this is it. I had purchased this long before this setup but it worked out well because the switch can stay in the case and the dock adapter can come right out the bottom with the switch still inside. I only need to check for heat issues on our next road trip with it being enclosed like that.
Finally a couple USB cables and HDMI cable to power everything. The EV9 has USB-C ports in each seat which makes it convenient, but for other vehicles if someone wants to copy this just make sure you have power.
We recently purchased this Anker travel bank which is my favorite ever and it might even work for powering this setup because of its 100W output. I should test it sometime and let you know. (Also a gadget that might be worth doing it’s own video on)
The EV9 just also happens to have a little pull out drawer in the center console that the switch rests on.
Take care! Steve H. Columbus, OH
