The Giz Wiz Show # 1818 – Thursday 2/11/21 Independent Show #297
We start off with a different kind of keychain for belt, backpack, etc.
When keys started falling out my old keychain I decided to buy a new one. I figured I’d search for a different kind of keychain that might be interesting. On Amazon I found the Lancher with this description: “Featuring 1 Press to detach: make it much easier to detach or clip on your belt loop, Never will be frustrated by hard to detach you keys from your belt loop when you trying to open the door. One of the most Durable key chain on Amazon; Anti-Scratch and it will Never rust. Extra 2 key rings provided for easy key management, keep your keys organized. Come with gift box, Excellent gift idea. 5 Year Warranty. (Free replacement or full refund it this keychain breaks within 5 years).” Sounded good, so I bought it. Then I saw what looked like the exactly same keychain, but two for the price of the one I was buying. I decided to buy both to see if they were the identical keychains. Are they? You’ll find out on this week’s show.

You’ve Heard Of A Lazy Susan, But How About A Crazy Susan?
Yes, it looks like a lazy susan, but this one by YouCopia is labeled a crazy susan because it has a few extra features. First, there are 3 clear plastic bins to organize your spices, etc. The sides are great to keep items from falling off the turntable where you can’t reach them. The removable bins are clear and have handles inside and outside. The inside handles let you lift off the entire bin collection. The outside handles let you take off any one of the three bins. It also has stainless steel ball bearings that allow the 11” turntable to rotate smoothly and rubber feet keep it from sliding. It’s all ready to go right out of the box, there’s nothing to assemble. I paid $24.00 on Amazon as of 2/13/21. Check the reviews, they are quite good.

How Big Is A 62 Inch Golf Umbrella?
I know that sounds like a trick question, but I found out the answer AFTER I bought one. You’ll see on this week’s show how a 62” Golf Umbrella would save a problem I had in the backyard after falling ice did a lot of damage. It turns out the G4Free 62 Inch Large Umbrella has a circumference of 62” but a diameter 52”. First a bit about the umbrella: “The transparent golf umbrella is made of waterproof PVC transparent material. The highly transparent and clear material allows you to see through perfectly even on rainy days. This STICK RAIN umbrella is made of fiberglass ribs and shaft, windproof, lightweight, strong than the normal metal material. No stitching canopy make sure no leak. You will never suffer rain drop form a sudden rip in downpour. Automatic open mechanism and comfortable slip-proof EVA grip handle. Comes with a carrying protective sleeve, easily to fold up and carry to anywhere. The umbrella handle length is 17”. You’ll see it in action on this week’s show. And how it worked after a mild snowstorm! $24.00

Chad’s Second Gadget For His New February Theme.
The winning theme voted on by our loyal Patreons is ‘Cheap Drinking Gadgets.‘ Chad’s second gadget isn’t exactly cheap, but it is a drinking gadget! Here’s some info from the web about: The Hidrate Spark STEEL Smart Water Bottle, the world’s smartest water bottle! Stainless Steel vacuum-insulated body keeps drinks cold for up to 24 hours, prevents sweating and allows for a pure water taste. Both variations of lids feature a protective spout cover to keep out dirt and germs. The Chug lid includes a button lock to prevent accidental spills. This 100% BPA-free bottle includes an easily accessible rechargeable battery on the bottom of the bottle with a fast charging cable so your bottle can always stay charged while you’re on-the-go. Using a built-in sensor, the HidrateSpark Steel bottle tracks your water intake and syncs via Bluetooth to the brand’s FREE hydration app on your phone (available on iOS and Android). When a user falls behind on their hydration goal, LED lights embedded in the sensor puck glow in customizable patterns as a reminder to stay on track.
And Chad’s take? Chad liked this a lot. And why not, it has LED’s, and a decent app! You’ll learn all the other reasons why in this week’s show. Chad bought his through the Apple store, which offers a slightly different approach to buying it. On Amazon, The Spark Steel water bottle is sold is in two versions. One with the ‘Chug’ lid and one with the ‘Straw’ lid. When you purchase it through the Apple store, it ships with both lids. Price is a bit more with both lids, but on Amazon the price is ever changing, so compare if you’re interested and know which lid you want. Chad will also explain about a lower priced plastic version.

I meant to send this video in a couple weeks ago. The store I bought this from is one of my favs because of the fun stuff it carries. I forgot to mention in the video how much it was cost. I don’t remember, but I think it was around $20.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:
You talked about a couple of keurig cup coffee makers recently but you haven’t reviewed the most different and interesting one, The Presto MYJO coffee maker. This single cup coffee maker can be used off-the-grid. It works without electricity or batteries. It’s perfect when my husband and I go camping. The Presto MYJO comes in three parts that stack:
-A base which sits atop your own coffee mug and in which the keurig cup is inserted.
-the water reservoir where you pour the hot water.
-The rubber cover/plunger.
Pressing the plunger pushes the hot water through the keurig cup and into your mug. There is even the satisfying gurgle sound that your regular keurig machine makes!
I hope you find this as interesting as I do. Keep up the good work guys. Lois Scott
