The Giz Wiz Show # 1821 – Thursday 3/4/21 Independent Show #300
We start this week’s show with a unique gadget, the smallest, most versatile charging cable I’ve ever used!
It’s called inCharge 6– or as Amazon calls it: The Six-in-One Swiss Army Knife of Cables, Portable Keyring Compatible with Apple iPhone/USB/USB-C/Micro USB Cable for All of Your Devices. This cable is short, about 2”. The whole device ready to charge is about 5”. But it’s versatile. You get USB to USB-C, USB to combo Lightning/Micro USB, USB-C to USB-C & USB-C to dual Lightning/Micro USB. The device is very lightweight and easy to use once you master the ‘hidden’ connectors. With magnets the heads snap together and hang on your key ring. The company says you can sync and charge simultaneously. And this I haven’t seen before. This cable supports power transfer from one smartphone to another, as well as from one smartphone to another type of portable device. So you give a charge to a phone running out of juice, or charge earbuds, etc. And it was under $20 on Amazon when I bought it.

Meet the Greesum Cantilevered Umbrella! Or, meet the Greesum Offset Umbrella.
If you’re the fan of the Giz Wiz Show you know this past winter there was a lot of damage to some hand-built structures in the Gizneyland backyard. I put up a series of umbrellas to keep some snow from hitting the ground so Charlie could sniff around out there without getting buried and Dennis & I could get to our mini-greenhouse. Now that the weather shows signs of warmth I wondered if I could get one huge umbrella to cover a fairly large amount of space in the yard. And could I find one with an offset arm so we wouldn’t have have a big stand in the middle of the yard to get around. On Amazon I found the Greesum 10′ offset umbrella. The company says it’s not only waterproof, but sun-proof, fade resistant and rust-proof. I have no idea what they mean when they say: “Screw-in pole design can make the umbrella easy to use and adjust” because the umbrella snaps together. The instructions are almost non-existent, but I think we did an okay job putting it together. You’ll see how we did in the video on this week’s show. Also I doubt it’s “easy to assemble for one person’. It’s big and a bit cumbersome until it’s put together. Also after you open the box, you find a sheet of paper that says: “must be used with base, sold separately.” It does come with a barebones base which you’ll also in the video which is what we used. The price was amazing for the quality, under $80 on Amazon. It’s available in many colors. It’s only been up for ten days so I can’t report on how long it will last but it’s already been through two rain storms and it kept us all nice and dry!

Chad’s Crappy Corner and his brand new March theme voted on by our loyal Patreons.
Chad’s first gadget is as far from ‘cheap’ as I think he’s ever gone since doing his ‘cheap gadgets’ segments on the show. It’s the ECOVACS DEEBOT OZMO T8 AIV Ivacuum that offers simultaneous vacuuming and mopping. Chad loves the vacuuming, but can do without the mopping, which he says is inefficient. Chad loves the AIVI technology that identifies stuff laying on floor like shoes and cables and works around them. And how about this? When you’re away from home you can actually drive the DEEBOT using the app to look in on pets, check for open doors or windows, and reach those spaces your home security cameras aren’t able to. How techie is that?! There is a ton much info you’ll learn on this week’s show and you’ll see Chad’s ultra-tech vacuum in action! Chad said ‘not cheap’ right? Well the DEEBOT OZMO T8 AIVI MSRP is $699.99 and the ‘auto-empty docking station (another clever bit of tech) is MSRP $249.00.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video And Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.
Dave’s video is his Color Changing Globe gadget review.
(Judging by the $5 price on the box, I’m going to guess it was from Five Below.)
Here’s Dave’s fun video:

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Letter of the week:
A fan of the show Michael Arnold asks a question and provides a detailed answer to how that Magic Candle on a previous show actually works!
