Show #1836 Tuesday June 15th, 2021 Independent Show 315
Anker’s new Nano II series of chargers are the first in the world to take advantage of Gallium Nitride (GaN) II technology. The new Nano II lineup includes 65, 45 and 30 watt chargers – smaller and faster charging options for consumers. This new generation of Nano II charger series is not only smaller and more portable, but also makes a leap forward in compatibility and charging safety. The entire lineup comes with a single USB-C port powered by the latest version of Anker’s own Power IQ 3.0 technology, that charges the iPhone up to 3 times faster than the 5W stock charger, and is compatible with Samsung Super Fast Charging. The 65W Nano II charger is the same size as the 30W Atom PD 1 but more than twice as powerful. It can charge most smartphones, tablets, or any USB-C Laptops. For those looking to travel light, the 30W charger is as small as a 5W stock charger, but can handle a Nintendo Switch or even the latest Macbook Air. The 45W charger is slightly larger than the 30W. The extra 15 watts are enough to keep chromebooks and other mid-sized notebooks charged. Additionally, both the 45W and 65W options feature foldable plugs for easier packing. As opposed to silicon, which is typically used in most chargers, GaN provides a more efficient way to disperse heat, allowing chargers to safely operate at faster speeds.
The 30W model retails for $29.99, the 45W for $35.99 and the 65W for $39.99, with shipping starting now for the 30 & 45W units. The 65W unit ship mid July.

A Chad ‘Extra’ Gadget!
A few weeks ago Chad told us a new electric he ordered had arrived! On this show we get a look at his new RadRover 5. The first thing I noticed was the 4” fat tires that should be able to travel over a lot of rough stuff. The company says “The RadRover 5 is our flagship ebike, perfect for off-road adventures, weekend spins around the cul de sac, and everything in between. It’s no wonder it’s the best-selling electric fat bike in North America.” Chad pointed out that it has a 750W geared hub motor and can run up to 45+ miles per charge. It has a 250 pound payload capacity. Chad added that he couldn’t pick out a single outstanding feature because the entire bike works very well with all the various components together. But Chad said he expects to upgrade the seat, and upgrade the headlight. He explains why in his video review. He also points out this is a pricey bike at $1700.00. But he likes the 5 level power assist which he’ll also explain. The Rad Power 5 goes 20 mph, but after you have it set up, you can increase that speed to 25 mph. And it is a heavy bike at about 75 pounds. And the price? $1699.00.

Time For Another ‘What The Heck Is It?’ Gadget!
If you watched this week’s show, you know those two cute older folks are the Jobar Gramps & Granny Eyeglass Holders. It’s a fun way for grandma and grandpa (or kids, or anyone) to keep track of where they put their eyeglasses. They comes in a set of 2 Gramps / Granny figurines in a decent box if you want to give them as a gift. They can also serve as a whimsical home decor for shelf, desk, or nightstand. Made of durable ceramic, they’ll help keep folk’s eyeglasses in an easy-to-remember place. A pair is under $13.00 on Amazon.

Gadget #3 for Chad’s new gadget theme for June as picked by our loyal Patreon members.
The winning June theme was “Cheap Gadgets from Alibaba”. Chad’s third cheap gadget directly from the AliExpress website is (their description) Soap Dispenser Soap Bottle Foaming Lotions Refillable Bottle Flower Pump Head Bathroom Soap Shampoo Cosmetic Empty Bottle 250ML. Yes, it is an empty bottle and to use it to have to buy ‘foaming soap’. Chad did that and you’ll see the results on this week’s show. Spoiler alert. It seems to work perfectly and then — well, I’m said enough! It’s available in white, green, brown, pink, blue, clear. And again from Alibaba: Suitable for: shampoo, shower gel, hand soap, dishwashing liquid, etc. Package Included: 1pc x flower bottle (empty bottle). Semi-closed pump head, special flower pump head, flowers bloom from now on. Chad paid under $4.00 but it was cheaper at the link below on 6/17/21. But as you’ll see, “shipping is 30 to 50 days!”

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.
It’s A Gadget Warehouse Steam Special!
The Locomotive Phone is from TeleMania. They were famous for making every sort of novelty telephone imaginable. The Locomotive Phone is styled after the Crescent Train of 1925. Some 30+ years ago at CES when I first saw this phone I asked someone from the company how they were able to product such a detailed model. He told me they bought the plans from a company producing model locomotives and just added the electronic phone components. Even though TeleMania is no longer around, you can still find it online. (Mostly on ebay.) If it wasn’t for the phone cord coming out of the back, this could easily pass for an expensive model train sitting on your desk. (You can use it as a model by just removing the phone cord entirely.) As a phone, when the train sound effects – steam, whistle, choo-choo sounds kick in, it means the phone is ringing. You can use a switch on the bottom to make it ring like a regular phone, but why would you want to do that? It has other “modem features” too like push button dialing, redial, mute and even ringer on/off. The boiler lifts off to and becomes the handset to answer the call. The keypad is under there too. It requires 2 AA batteries. As you’ll see in the video mine is more than 30 years old and it’s can choo and toot!

It’s an Amazon for about $90 — on ebay for $30 to $40, but here for
$6.15 — to good to be true? Probably: http://salestores.com/telotrphtlol.html (Seems to be gone now.)

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
