Show #1841 Wednesday July 21st 2021 Independent Show 320
We start with another fun kid’s toy from the 2021 Virtual SweetSuite Event that will be coming available next month.
When I first saw the new VTech KidiStar DJ Mixer Sound-Mixing Music Maker With Party Lights sitting on a demo table during a Zoom call, I needed to know more about it. Here’s what Vtech says about it: You can be the star of the show with the KidiStar DJ Mixer!
Scratch and jam to the music on the DJ turntable. Create custom mixes playing along with the 15 included songs or connect to your own music player, via BLUETOOTH wireless technology or audio cable. Play with the sound grid to create 2000+ sound combinations! Record your own custom sound effects and tags with the internal mic. Dial in the effects with the sliders to get your remix just right. Add and remove vocals and effects, fine tune the mix, and record your mash-up. Use the headphone jack to listen, or play back your tracks for all your fans to hear through the built-in speaker. Get the crowd going with dazzling party lights on your DJ rig. Build your DJ skills by following the rhythms in a music game. Intended for ages 5+ years. Requires 4 AA batteries. Batteries included for demo purposes only. MSRP: $54.99. Due out in August.

A Chad Gadget Extra! The Wyze Remote Control Car.
First a little info from Wyze about their very rare Wyze Remote Control Car: All-wheel drive goes from hardwoods to backwoods. Your targets rarely operate out in the open – traversing all types of terrain is a requirement. Massive off-road tires climb over rocks, carpets, branches, and more with ease. Shock-absorbing suspension withstands vertical impact after flying through the air. And a high-density, all-plastic roll cage protects against nasty spills while you make your getaway. ————– Okay, forget all that, because this Wyze RC car was for sale for just one single day! And that was April Fool’s Day, 2021. People weren’t sure if it was just an April Fool’s gadget, or a real thing. They were offering only 5,000 units and Chad signed on to their website and was able to order one of them. Turns out, it was for real. It cost $49.99 and had ‘free shipping’, BUT you also needed a compatible Wyze Cam v2 which was sold separately. There’s a whole backstory about what it took to make this car work which you’ll see on this week’s show and in Chad’s video demo. Remember, it is no longer available.

Shooting Photos Of Small Objects For Sale? Here’s How To Make Them Look More Professional.
Here’s A Lightweight, But Handy Photo Light Box! And it’s inexpensive too. It’s the Traxx Photo Studio Light Box kit with LED light strip. If you shoot photos of small objects to post online, a light box can give your pictures a more professional look. Light boxes for professionals are expensive, but you don’t need a fancy one for occasional close up work. Five Beyond has one and yes, it’s a bit beyond $5 at $7. The kit doesn’t come with any instructions, or at least mine didn’t. But as you’ll see in my video on this week’s show, once you unfold it, it’s just a matter of snapping it together. The kit includes an LED light strip and micro USB cable, but you’ll need to use your own AC/USB plug. Or you can power it from your computer or an external USB battery charger. Also included are interchangeable black & white backdrops. I’m not sure why you need the white backdrop since the entire light box is already white. Once set up, the LED light strip does provide bright, even lighting. There is no way to adjust the LED light however. This is not for photographing big items as the assembled size is 10in x 10in. It seems to be made of a lightweight, but sturdy plastic. $7. (Plus shipping if you buy it online. Shipping has gone up again. It used to be $5, now it’s $7.95. But that’s for any size order.

Chad’s New Cheap Gadget July Theme is Cheap Bike Gadgets!
First a bit from Amazon: Waterproof , 4 Sound Modes with Rechargeable Battery, Electric Bike Horn. Built in boost circuit with loud sound reached 100-120 db. Rechargeable 280 mAh lithium battery. USB cable, charge 1.2 hours full charge. On full charge ring 2500 times. About 20-30 days works. With IP 65 waterproof level, three protection: waterproof, drop, dust resist.
And Chad’s take: Chad like this device. The included silicone strap make it easy to install. The remote control lets you set the volume and pick one of four different ring sounds. Chad especially liked that it had a USB rechargeable battery and that it was inexpensive for what it does. Under $14.00. It did well on Amazon too, 4.4 out of 5 stars from more than 4,000 reviewers. You’ll see Chad’s demo on this week’s show.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
