Show #1843 Thursday August 5th 2021 Independent Show 322
On this week’s show we start with another great camping gadget, the portable shower!
It’s called the Risepro Portable Shower Kit. You can use it indoors or out. Good for camping, watering plants, washing cars, etc. You just need a water source to drop the cordless pump into. It can be small like a bucket, or big like a lake. I actually used it as a mini bilge pump to drain a compartment on my boat. It comes with a suction cup and hook mount so you can use it as a hands free shower. The shower head water flows at approx. 2 liters per minute and up to 5-7 minutes shower time with 10 litres (2.5 gallons) water. Of course the shower you take will be at the exact temperature of the water you placed the pump in. On a hot day leaving a bucket of water in the sun for a few hours should make the water warm enough to enjoy a shower. It comes with a USB pin-type plug which I’m not crazy about. It would be better if it used USB-C or micro USB, cables we all have spares of. You can charge it via USB, portable mobile charger, or from a laptop. The company says it works up to 60 minutes continuously after a full charge. It works pretty well as you’ll see in this week’s show. And it was just under $30 on 8/6/21 on Amazon.

Not A “What The Heck Is It?” But A “What The Heck Does It Do?”
From Amazon: Fast and effortless dual wheel cutting without ruining the surface. Fashionable bicycle pizza cutter made of high quality stainless steel with sharp non-stick edge. Comes with a stand allowing you to display it in your home. It is not only a great pizza cutter, but also a decoration for the bike lover. Simple to use and easy to clean it with warm water.
From the Giz Wiz. This works well, but it’s a bit harder to clean that a regular pizza cutter. The cheap ones did cut pizza, but not as fast, and they feel lightweight & not as well made. They actually are lightweight by putting them on a scale as you’ll on this week’s show. If you like this of thing I spend the extra few bucks for the more pricey one which is much better build. On Amazon the better one got 4.5 out of 5 stars, while the cheap ones got 3.8 out of 5 stars.

This Didn’t Work For What I Needed, But It’s Still A Great Gadget!
Meet the POWRUI 6-Outlet Extender with 2 USB Charging Ports (2.4A Total), Night Light and Surge Protection. This wall outlet with USB port is a very useful accessory if you have a lot of household appliances at home or office. It let’s you convert a single wall socket into a hub station. Plug into any vertical grounded AC outlet and stabilize it with the extended long screw. Once installed you can charge up to 8 electrical devices simultaneously with 6 AC outlets and 2 USB ports. The 2.4A is divided between the two ports if you charge two devices at the same time. The nightlight lets you choose 3 brightness levels using touch-activated button. It’s a warm white light, which should be soft enough not to disturb sleep. The company says there’s an intelligent built-in voltage sensing circuitry with safety features such as thermal fuses that power off your system in the event of a severe occurrence. On Amazon they describe a $100,000 connected equipment warantee. When I bought mine it was under $17.00 which seemed a good deal, but alas in my old brownstone almost all the outlets are 2-prong except for the air-conditioner outlets.

It’s August! Time To Reveal Chad’s New ‘Cheap Gadget’ Theme As Voted On By Our Loyal Patreons.
Chad’s 1st What The Heck Is It gadget is the Real Simple Shoulder Shapers. Here’s what Bed Bath & Beyond says about the Velvet Shoulder Shapers from Real Simple. Keep your garment’s shape. Attaches to the Velvet Touch Shirt and Suit Hangers (sold separately) to prevent clothes from creasing. Velvet top securely holds garments in place. Measures 6″ L x 175″ W x 15″ H – 4 Pack.
And Chad’s take: Chad couldn’t get them to fit any of the hangers he had at home, but then realized they are designed to work with Velvet Touch Shirt and Suit Hangers that are sold separately. You’ll see how they look when he tried a work around. They seemed to be on close-out at his local BB&B because he paid just 99 cents!
On the BB&B website they were selling for $3.99 on 8/5/21, but maybe your local BB&B store 1st.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video And Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.
Hi Dick and Chad!
Here’s a video for the Warehouse of my favorite gadget at the moment, a quasi-retro device that I’ve been using for 3 years now (I said 2 years in the video but I’ve been saying that about it for over a year now):

The video description has more details I didn’t mention in the video, along with relevant URLs.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you. All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Email of the week is from a frequent contributor, Jeffrey Slomovitz. It’s starts: “Good evening gentlemen” — but we’re sure he means Chad and me! It continues:As a fan of the show, I have often heard that you and Chad sometimes talk about developing a “new idea” on a start-up website. I came across this site that definitely gave me a laugh. It is basically every start-up investor’s worst nightmare. It is a website where you can purchase and collect mock startup gadgets toys that have failed and even gives the reader the full back story. Here is the website – Enjoy!
Warm Regards, Jeffrey Slomovitz
