Meet The Home Version Of The Amusement Park Claw Machine!
It’s the Thames & Kosmos Candy Claw Machine STEM Experiment Maker Lab Kit. In days of old, Claw Machines were big attractions at amusement parks and pinball game centers. I haven’t been to either one of those for years, so I don’t know if they’re still around. But I’m sure you’ve seen them in movies. Well now you can see a mini-version in your own home – after you build it. It’s the Arcade-Style Claw Machine. The maker Thames & Kosmos says it lets kids experiment with three different types of claws (pincher, scoop, and three-pronged) to pick up lollipops and decoy candy boxes (both included!). A fun, gamified approach to engineering lessons, kids (and maybeyou) can learn about hydraulics, levers, gears, belts, linkages, end effectors and more. No batteries or electricity required; it uses only the power of your hand and the mechanical advantage of the machines built into the device. Refill your machine with your own treats and prizes for long-lasting fun. For ages 6+ with help; 8+ “I got this!” Difficulty Level: advanced; approximately 3 hour build time. Step-by-step assembly & troubleshooting videos available online. 16-page, full-color illustrated manual in the kit. MSRP: $39.95.

I Knew Flybar Made Wonderful Pogo Sticks, But This Unique Toy Is Completely Different!
Yes, it’s certainly something different for kids. But I wonder – do kids know what bumper cars are? Even if they don’t, I think they’ll find this a heck of a lot of fun. Here’s info from the company: The Flybar Bumper Car for Kids delivers screen-free entertainment for kids ages 1.5 – 4 years. Able to support up to 66 pounds, this baby bumper car lets kids zip around the house while they race, chase, spin and bump. Little ones can steer the kid car from the driver’s seat with the easy-to-use joysticks. The Flybar kids bumper car is powered by an integrated 6V battery and it comes with a 120V wall charger. The battery recharges overnight and replacement batteries are available, so you’ll be sure to get plenty of enjoyment as your little one grows. Built with fun and safety in mind, this kid car performs 360 degree turns, includes exciting flashing LED Lights, and reaches a maximum speed of 1 MPH. Flybar bumper cars are made with a soft rubber bumper that protects walls and furniture, and cushions impact during bumping games. An adjustable safety belt keeps little ones in place, and the durable plastic shell with anti-flat wheels is strong enough to withstand high energy playtime. The Flybar Bumper Car for Kids comes fully assembled. It’s available in pink and in blue. MRSP: $99.95.

Chad’s Crappy Corner & his final cheap “What The Heck Is It?” gadget for his September Theme.
And why would you need a mouse mover? The company explains: If you work at home, your company-issued computer likely includes mouse movement-tracking software like Microsoft Lync / Teams. When you leave your desk, your computer starts to count down the seconds. After a few minutes, the Microsoft app alerts your boss that you are not working. The Liberty Mouse Mover simulates mouse motion. There is no need to install any software, or insert in any memory stick into your computer. The Liberty Mouse Mover is completely independent of your work-issued computer, meaning that over-zealous IT departments can’t track its use. You simply place your computer mouse on the rotating platform. Your computer senses that your mouse is moving, and your boss thinks you are hard at work. You stop worrying and start enjoying the flexibility of working from home…… take back your freedom! The original Liberty Mouse Mover / Jiggler has upgraded electronics with random Left/Right/Stop/Go movement. It runs directly off 120V wall power so you don’t need to worry about overloading your USB port. The Liberty Mouse Mover is intended for optical wireless mice only and the mouse cannot be larger than 4″ and 5/8″.
And Chad’s take? Chad liked this. I talked about a ‘mouse jiggler with Leo Laporte a few weeks ago on the Tech Guy, but mine plugged into a computer. Chad likes the idea that this one has no software, actually no connection to the computer at all. It plugs into the wall and then you set your mouse on it. (Check the max mouse dimensions above.) Chad thought it was a bit on the expensive side, but outside of that, he even likes the way it’s packaged as you’ll see on this week’s show. MSRP: $35.99 It did very well in the Amazon ratings. 4.5 from more than 3800 reviewers.

Dick Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video & Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.
Hi Dick and Chad,
This is a video for The Extractor from the Sawyer First Aid Kit. It is oddly familiar as it looks just like the Bug Bite Thing! (A device we did a few weeks ago.) The date on the included documentation is 1984 so that makes this 37 years old. I had been hoping my husband would toss this over the years but no such luck.
Link to the video on YouTube
I did find one on Amazon at $13.99
Thanks, Linda

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
