On This Week’s Show, a preview of something brand new from Anker coming next month!
A few weeks ago I learned about the new Soundcore Frames Audio Eye Wear. It was an under-embargo meeting, but the release date was 9 AM October 13th, so now we could talk about it on the Giz Wiz. Their new frames feature the company’s patented Open-Surround system, designed with two customized drivers in each arm of the eyeglasses. The main speaker is in front of the user’s ear, with another located behind the ear to help amplify the stereo sound. The frames also feature on-ear wearing detection and will automatically pause audio when the glasses are removed, then turn on when put back on. You’ll be able to choose from ten different frame styles and can purchase additional frames in an assortment of sizes, shapes and styles including tinted sunglasses, prescription and blue-light filtering options. With Soundcore’s Pull and Plug quick release system, consumers can easily swap out different styles. Be sure to watch Chad try on all ten frame style on this week’s show with their amazing website virtual try-on experience. Frames offer up to 5.5 hours of playback on a single charge as well as the ability to fast charge an additional 1.5 hours of playback with a 10-minute charge. Available in November for $199.99 in the US. Additional frame models will be available for purchase via Soundcore.com in the coming weeks for $49.99 in the US. For a limited time you can hold a preorder spot for $1 which will also entitle you to an extra frame once you purchase a pair of Audio Eye Wear. A link to that page and the virtual try-on is below.

Jump Start The Car, Boat, Etc. Then Charge Those Gadgets With This Device.
A friend was flying back to Florida and was afraid his motorcycle at the airport might have a dead battery. So I gave him my Cobra jumpstart, just in case. And that meant I had to buy a new jump starter. I decided the Vidoka Portable Car Jump Starter which claims 1000 Amp Max battery Booster, for Gas Engines up to 7.0L, Diesel up to 5.5L. It also says it ships with Smart Clamp Cables that offer 8 safe protection systems, so no need to worry about incorrect connections or sparks. In addition to being a jump starter, it’s also a 12800mAh battery bank with USB quick charging output ports, plus an LED flashing with S.O.S. And flashing modes.
It was about $65, but it’s often on sale for less.

I Didn’t Think This Funnel Was So Smart, But Many Did.
The Smart Funnel is “Amazon’s Choice for funnels from Cumberland Concepts”. (Does that really mean anything important?) Here’s what they claim: Save money, Reduce waste. Drip it – For effortless transfer of remaining slow fluids, place the funnel into the neck of receiving container & place pouring container into top clip of the funnel. Pour It – Place the funnel into neck of receiving container and swing top clip away. Store It – Place container into top clip with lid closed and the smart funnel will hold the bottle upside down, ready to use. I was going to try it for transferring skin moisturizer, but reviews for that said it’s painfully slow, so I’ll stick with Flip-It from several shows ago. However Smart Funnel did get 4.7 stars from over 3300 ratings. $11.99 or 4/$27.99, about $7 each, comes in four colors.

Chad’s Crappy Corner & his second gadget for his new October Theme.
For October our loyal Patreon’s picked “Powering Your Gadgets” for Chad’s Cheap Gadget theme! Yes, October will all be about different ways to power or charge your gadgets. Chad’s second “Power For Your Gadgets” is the Slitinto 8 Port USB Charger Station. From Amazon: Armed with up to 8-ports, the Slitinto USB Charging Station supports charging all your family devices at once. Not only free yourself from looking for extra outlets when you are in a family party, but also make your multi usb charger cables organized and get your desktop clean and tidy. Eight ports pump out total 60 watts of power equipped with auto detect technology, maximizing the highest charging speed and energy efficiency for each port, provide the optimal current and the quickest charge. It’s your best travel/family companion.
And Chad’s take: Chad liked the LCD Display, but said it’s too bright for a nightstand. And he was disappointed it had only one Type C Port. He added not everybody will visually want to monitor the current and the charging status of their devices, but he finds it interesting. At about $26-$28 he considered it a little bit pricey.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
Good Afternoon Gentlemen,
This is Jeff and Adam with another gadget warehouse video. This time it is sort of a follow-up to a letter from Mo and the old telephone that Chad has on his shelf behind him. Recently I purchased an old rotary phone from a garage sale and wanted it to work but with a slight twist. I purchased the “Cell2Jack“ device that enables any landline phone to work as a Bluetooth handset. In order to make it work I needed to order an RJ11 adapter to make the old wiring work with a standard phone Jack as well a portable micro USB-C charger – (sorry Chad I know how much you dislike micro USB-C chargers). Please enjoy the video enclosed along with the item from EBay.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Email of the week!
A “What the heck is it?” question From Michael Prine
I have a gadget for the what the heck is it segment but not sure how I should shoot the video. Should I show it and then say to pause the video and wait a few seconds before explaining what it is?
The Giz Wiz & Chad answer: Yes, shoot the video with the What The Heck The Heck Gadget, say something like: “I’ll give you ten seconds to come with a guess” — and then make the reveal. The gadget should be a whole gadget as it’s sold, not a piece of a gadget.
