Show #1854 Thursday October 21st 2021 Independent Show 332
On This Week’s Show we start with a look at two Halloween gadgets from Five Below.
The first gadget was pretty impressive, especially for the price. It’s the Halloween Neon Bat. It didn’t look like much until we took it out of box, but lit up, especially in a darkened area, it looks great. Great for the spooky season! Battery-operated,it requires 2 AA’s, not included. Cordless design with stand – so you can place the neon lights anywhere you want to decorate. I have ours in our front window, but it will also look great in Halloween mantle displays, on shelves & side tables, etc. Five Below also has a pumpkin neon light: 10in (W) x 9.25in (H) x 3.4in (D). I haven’t seen that one is person. The one I bought, the bat neon light is: 9.8in (W) x 7.8i (H) x 3.4in (D). It’s for indoor use only and it’s imported.
I also bought the Black Light Bulb, but it was a total disappointment! It didn’t seem to do anything expect throw off heat. It’s a 75 watt bulb. You’ll see it in operation on this week’s show.

Need To Get Files From An Old Floppy Disc?
You can do it with this USB Floppy Drive, no software download needed. I wrote my book GOOD DAYS AND MAD back in 1994. I’ve had something like 7 different computers since then and I never transferred the file for book to each new one. So when I finally found the old floppy disc with my book on it, I had no way to download it on to my latest computer. Then I found the Chuanganzhuo 3.5″ USB External Floppy Disk Drive Portable 1.44 MB FDD for PC external USB drive. The company says it good for Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8. No Extra Driver Required. Plug and Play. I used on my Windows 10 machine and yes, it worked! It’s super-slim, lightweight and takes its power requirements from the USB port. Although no external power adapter is required the company says: “Please plug our external floppy disk drive into rear USB interface of motherboard directly. If you connect our floppy drive through USB hub,USB extension cable or frontal USB interface,it may can not be recognized by your computer since it cannot get sufficient power from your computer.” They also add: “This reader might not be able to read all discs because of the operating software on your computer or the old floppy disks.” Fortunately it worked fine for me! And I paid less that $21 for it.

The Zing Go Go Bird Butterfly Will Be Flying Off The Shelves.
Kids (3 & up) and adults will love this beautiful butterfly. When I took it down to Riverside Park it attracted a lot of attention from kids, adults and even dogs! Here’s some info from Zing. “The Go Go Bird Butterfly can offer you amazing remote-control flying experience. It can do smart take-offs by hand, control it in air by lifting the big butterfly wings up-and-down. Push the power button for an emergency stop in a sudden crash or landing situation.” It requires two AAA batteries for the remote, not included. There’s a built in battery in the butterfly itself which charges with the included cable. The company says 10 minutes of flying for 20 minutes of charging. MSRP $29.99, but it’s retailing for $24.99 at Target. It may be short supply because it has just been released.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
Howdy:
I have watched every episode of the Giz Wiz in every incarnation. I love the show, but I have never sent in a gadget video, until today.
I mispronounce the word best, but I know that the Giz Wiz is one-take theater so I did not rerecord to fix it.
Thanks for the great show. I hope you like the video.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Hello gentlemen:
Well, it finally happened a real need to teach children about our telephone history- I had one of these as a child minus the “technology”. I couldn’t believe it was a real product at first but here is it – right from Best Buy”s website – I might just need to order one! Enjoy!
