Three brand new gadgets from the LIVE Pepcom Holiday Spectacular.
What 3 Words – A way for someone to find out exactly where you are, even in a park, or on a beach!
From the company: These days 70% of addresses will not take you to the front door, with 74% of people saying guests, services and deliveries struggle to find them. And in the developing world, the need for better addressing is clear: the Universal Postal Union estimates that 75% of countries have poorly maintained addressing systems, or none at all.
what3words’goal is to become a global standard for communicating location. It gives everyone and everywhere a simple, accurate and reliable address. what3words addresses are easier to remember than a postal address and can be shared more accurately than any other location reference system. what3words addresses are currently available in more than 45 languages, allowing more than half of the world’s countries to use them in at least one of their official languages. Here’s how it works: what3words has taken the globe, and divided it into a grid of 3m squares, giving each one a unique what3words address, made of three words from the dictionary. For example, the front door to what3words’ London office can be found at ///filled.count.soap. Interested in trying it. The app is free for individuals and there’s an iOS and Android version.

Is your smartphone or smart speaker listening to everything you say?
From the company: With Pozio, you can easily control when your smart phones and smart speakers can and can’t listen to your conversations. Pozio devices utilize state of the art digital signal processing technology to prevent the microphones on smart devices, including mobile phones, from being able to record, process, store, and upload audio to the cloud. Your conversations are protected because Pozio doesn’t store any user information or recordings – furthermore, it isn’t even connected to the internet. Available in three configurations, Cradle Block blocks listening when the phone is charging/resting in it, Cradle Block & Talk takes things a step further by adding voice control, and Cradle Block, Talk & Rock amplifies things further by adding voice control and an integrated Bluetooth speaker. Pozio products started selling on Kickstarter November 2, 2021.

Chad’s brand new theme for November as picked by our loyal Patreon members is??
From Amazon: These travel compression bag provide up to 3X space as fold-and-stack through rolling and expelling air, reducing 75% of their original space. Come in 2 sizes (luggage & carry-on), Hibag travel compression bags for packing suffices your unique storage needs whether you are storing laundry when you are camping/doing outdoor sports or trying to keep as much clothing as possible in your carry-on luggage/backpack during trips or struggling to keep your cloth dry and clean as a pool/sea dry bag, thanks to airtight sealing of these roll up travel storage bag, the air inside these items can be squeezed out so that their size is reduced to a fraction of their initial volume. The packing bags for travel also prevent items from moisture and dusts, making long term storage possible.
And Chad’s take? Chad liked these. He said you get a lot of them for the money and you don’t need a pump to use them. You’ll see Chad pack several different items in Hibags on this week’s show. On the downside, the claim that you can reduce the size of items by 75% was really optimistic. But it will shrink the size of what you’re packing by quite a bit. 16 bags in two sizes was $16.99 as of 11/5/21.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
It’s the High Voltage Junction Box. As you’ll see in the video, it has LED jumping frayed ‘live’ wires and sizzling sound effects. It even has a junction box door that slams open and closed when you activate the switch! It runs on 3AA batteries. There are two ways to activate it. One is with a push button that hangs out of the back of the box, and the other way is with the ON/OFF lever on the box itself. That’s the more impressive way to scare the unsuspected! I bought mine on eBay for about $24.00, but since it doesn’t seem to be easily available now, it sells for more like $60.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
