Show #1859 For Week of November 27th 2021 (Recorded 11/23) Independent Show 336
First up on this week’s show, we exercise some shelf control. Actually, we built a ten-shelf shoe rack. (Almost.)
I needed more selves in the warehouse and I found an easy and inexpensive way to get them. I bought the Himimi 10 Tier Shoe Rack. Although one part of the description says made of high-quality stainless steel, I doubt that very much. The shelves are made of a waterproof nonwoven fabric and that seems true. Capacity: with a size of 22.2″L x 10.9″W x 65.1″H(57cm x 28cm x 167cm) to give more space for you manage shoes easily. The shoe rack can hold up to 30 Pairs of Shoes. Spacer fabric using double-sided lamination for waterproof and dustproof to keep your shoes tidy and clean. Perfect for sneakers, flats, casual shoes, children’s shoes, You can remove a layer to fit boots, high heels. The unit easy assembly, you can set it up quickly with no tools, the tiers also can be taken apart as you like. $31.99. 5% off coupon was available when I bought mine.

A Chad Extra!
OK, it’s not really a gadget, but a big deal software upgrade for Chad & his Tesla. Because he achieved a 99% on his Telsa driving score, Chad has able to download the full beta version of the Telsa “self-driving street version”. He already has the “self-driving highway version”. In case I’ve messed up any of this information, be sure you watch this week’s show where Chad takes us for a ride (in a good way) in his Telsa. You’ll see the software in action, which Chad thought was quite good. The shocking part is the cost. Although it’s just a software update, I believe Chad said it cost $10,000! But, it seems if you bought your Telsa earlier, as Chad did, it “only” cost $2,000. And, yes we’re talking about the software update. Chad said Tesla’s already have the required equipment. Not everybody can get this software now. You need to have a 99 or 100% Tesla driving record for a certain period of time to quality for the software update. Again, be sure to watch this week’s show to get all the details from Chad.

An Home Test Covid-19 Antigen Rapid Test At A Decent Price.
The iHealth COVID-19 Antigen Rapid Test is a 15-minute self-test to detect COVID-19 infection in the comfort of your own home without the need to ship your sample to a lab. The test can be done by inserting 1/2 to 3/4 inch of a simple non-invasive nasal swab. The test is easy to use with minimal discomfort. The iHealth Test app is optional but contains video instructions to guide users through the testing process. An iHealth Pass can be generated based on the test results for screening purposes. The app also allows the administrator of a small group to monitor and track the group members’ test results as needed at school, work, or events. The test has received FDA Emergency Use Authorization for self-testing without a prescription from your healthcare provider. It is suitable for adults and children over 2 years, with or without symptoms. The test is intended to be used twice over two to three days, with at least 24 hours and no more than 36 hours between tests. 2 tests (you need to take both to be sure of the results) are $17.98 on Amazon which includes shipping.

For his November theme Chad polled our loyal Patreon’s and they picked “Cheap Travel Gadgets.
Chad’s final cheap travel gadget is the Flight Flap Phone & Tablet Holder. It’s designed for air travel as an in-flight stand. Here’s what Amazon says about it: Make your travel more enjoyable by viewing your content at eye level, free from neck and back pain while keeping your hands free. Attaches to airline seat back and tray tables to accommodate a wide range of phone and tablet sizes. Extremely lightweight and folds flat for easy transport in your carry-on, purse, or pocket. Bend and mold it to use wherever you travel!
And Chad’s take: Chad paid $9.75 for his and hoped to actually use it on a flight he had booked. But, luckily he was upgraded to 1ston 3 of the 4 legs of his flights and on the one flight in coach, the seat back with very different from the usual, and so there was no demo there. But you’ll see him demo it at home and he was not impressed with it. His biggest compliant is that even folded to the minimum to hold your phone, it blocks too much the screen. Also even though it got 4.5 stars, it seems many reviewers said the device starts to come apart rather quickly. So Chad’s advice to find something better to hold your phone.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
Meet the (old) CyberLink YouCam. This is the 1st Giz Wiz Youtube video I could find and it’s all about a pretty ‘hot’ product at the time. This video was recorded 14 years ago and you’ll see what video quality was like back then. CyberLink YouCam software originally cost about $30 back then, which is probably more like forty or $50 today. It gave you the ability to add lots of fun screen overlays. After a while CyberLink YouCam was included free in many operating systems, including Windows Vista. Surprisingly, it’s still available, but now it seems pretty dated even though it’s been updated quite a bit since it was introduced. Chad mentions some other free choices which do more than YouCam on this week’s show.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
