Show #1866 For Week of Jan 13th 2022, Independent Show 342
(The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. This wee’s show and The Giz Wiz shows for the rest of January will all be about new gadgets found at CES 2022. Chad, and our producer, videographer, Josh Chenny, went to Las Vegas for the live show, while I covered endless hours of virtual CES here at Gizneyland. And, as you’ll see at the top of this week’s show, I was able to visit the Las Vegas Pepcom event “in person” for a while, thanks to the wonderful world of electronics.
Chad’s first gadget is perfect for the person who wants to spend less time brushing their teeth! It’s the Y-brush.
This is a very unique toothbrush from France. If spending two minutes time brushing your teeth morning and night is too much, you can cut that time to just ten seconds with this strange looking Y-brush. Yes, ten seconds to do both the upper and lower teeth, one jaw at a time. Place the Y-Brush in your mouth for just 5 seconds and move it right and left to let the 34,000 nylon filaments do their job. Now flip it over and do the other jaw. According to the company, you’re done! That would be amazing. There is a new version coming, which will offer 6 stages of sonic brushing. I received an email from Ben Cohen, the CEO of Y-Brush, saying the newest version wasn’t quite ready to bring to CES 2022. The spokesperson talking to Chad in his video says the price would be around $100.00, but to check the website. It seems the current Y-Brush system in about $150.00, not much higher than many of the other upscale electric toothbrushes in the marketplace.

Way More Than A Scale. It’s Also A Body Scanner!
Chad was really interested in learning about the new Body Scan device from Withings. Turns out Chad knows a heck of a lot about his body, but wants to learn more. This device can help do that. It won three CES 2022 Innovation Honoree Awards. Here’s a bit about it from the company and you’ll learn more with Chad and the Withings spokesperson on this week’s show. Body Scan consists of a single high-strength tempered glass platform encompassing a retractable handle. Body Scan contains four weight sensors and 14 ITO electrodes within the platform and 4 stainless steel electrodes in the handle for 6-lead ECG and segmental body composition analysis. It offers a year-long battery life and includes a larger high resolution 3.2” LCD color screen that displays stats. Body Scan will also allow users to access coaching, clinical specialists and personalized, holistic plans in-app to help them reach their health goals. MSRP: $299.00 and expected to be available mid-year 2022.

Look up into the sky! It’s A Bird, It’s Plane, No, It’s a Planet.
Chad stopped by the Vaonis booth at CES to learn about their newests telescope. Here’s a bit of info about it from the company: Small, yet powerful. Meet Vespera. Vespera is your new observation station, the perfect combination of telescope and camera. Smart and fully automated, Vespera is a revolution in the world of Astronomy. With a completely redesigned experience of observation, it will allow you to re-connect with the stars. The wonders of the Universe are now accessible to all with ease. Explore and observe the night sky, take your own photos of celestial objects, learn about the Cosmos, and share your discoveries in one place.
As the spokesperson explained to Chad, their previous smallest telescope retailed for $4,000. This newest, smaller, lighter mode,l weighs only 11 pounds, but has a ton of technology, and retails for under $1500, well $1499.00.

Chad Meet’s The Ultimate Squishy Human Body at CES 2022.
So they developed an advanced and completely new product with kinesthetic and interactive learning called Ultimate Squishy Human Body. Here’s some info from the company: Sculpted using 3D medical data from a real human body, the detailed, realistic human anatomy model is composed of 10 removable squishy organs and 15 other removable bones, muscles and body parts. When one of the eight removable SmartParts is placed on the electronic SmartScan module, the scanner recognizes the part and prompts users to select either Scan Mode or Quiz Mode. Other components include an Organ-izer chart, assembly sheet, quick-start guide, and illustrated 48-page book. Kids will discover how the body works and how to keep it healthy, in good shape, and going strong! 8+ Available starting February 2022 for MSRP $99.99.
On this week’s show you’ll learn that Chad knows quite a bit about the human body as he plays one of the included quizzes. And yes, Chad also learned the Ultimate Squishy Human Body also has “SmartScan Technology”! Price wise, Chad & I thought $100 (less a penny) was quite a bit for this device. But that’s probably MSRP. It will probably retail for less once it hits store shelves.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video And Win An Autographed MAD Magazine.
Each week we’re going to show a video of a gadget either I, or Chad, or the two of us recorded during a CES shows in past years. Then we’ll do a Google search and see what we can find out about that gadget. Is it finally for sale? Did it ever go on sale? Is the company still around? Before we did our first one of these, we expected this would be quite interesting. Well, we were right. Because you’ll be be stunned at what we found after we showed a CES video from 8 years ago. It’s all about the Elio, a car expected to sell for $6500! It’s from Showstoppers, an auxillary CES show we recorded January 2014. The Giz Wiz show was still on TWiT back then, and you’ll see quite a different Chad when you view this week’s warehouse segment. You’ll also learn an AMAZING backstory about Elio.
The company is still around: http://www.eliomotors.com/
Spoiler alert. It’s 8 years later and they still haven’t produced a car, but you can still preorder one, but now there’s an electric Elio version!
