Show #1868 For Week of Jan 27th 2022 Independent Show 344
This week’s show and The Giz Wiz shows for the rest of January will all be about new gadgets found at CES 2022. Chad, and our producer, videographer, Josh Chenny, went to Las Vegas for the live show, while I covered endless hours of virtual CES here at Gizneyland. And, as you’ll see at the top of this week’s show, I was able to visit the Las Vegas Pepcom event “in person” for a while, thanks to the wonderful world of electronics.
Chad’s first CES 2022 gadget on this week’s show is the new Eufy Security Garage Cam and Cam Plus. Both units combine a smart garage door controller and a built-in camera. Both are shipped with the needed controller. The difference between the two cameras is that the Cam Plus records in 2K, while lower priced unit records in 1080p. In addition to letting you see your garage in real time, it can send notifications if you leave your garage door open for an extended or if it senses a person or animal in preset zones. Both of these devices are expected to ship by March. MSRP for the 1080p unit is $99, with the 2K Cam Plus is $129.00. On this week’s show you’ll hear Chad’s thought on the pricing of these two new cams.

Chess Up – Designed To Make You A Master Chess Player.
Okay, I have never played Chess, so I’ll give you some info from the company and then you can hear Chad’s take this device on this week’s show. From the company: ChessUp is a game-changing smart chessboard with an integrated AI and chess instructor. The board senses when you touch a piece and lights up all available moves, ranked by strength – making this physical chessboard an immersive learning platform. ChessUp is the first product developed by Bryght Labs. ChessUp is Better with the App Interactive lessons, puzzles, and other premium content delivered by some of the worlds best chess players. Not to mention the strongest chess engine in the world. You can preorder at the company website for $349.00. It’s expected to ship in April for people who order early.

Let Black + Decker’s Bev Make Your Drinks For You!
Bev by Black + Decker – A couple of month ago I reported on the Hamilton Beach automatic bartender. At CES 2022 found a different auto drink maker from Black + Decker called Bev. Bev lets you use your own bottles of liquor (750 ml bottles) by inserting a straw from the machine into each liquor bottle. Then you need one more thing, a Bartesian capsule., but the capsule (like a kind of K-cup) adds juices, bitters and and whatever else your mixed drink requires. Before you make your drink you pick the cocktail strength, from mocktail to strong. And they there are the LED lights! It uplights your bottles as it removes liquor from them, or in ‘Party Mode’ where the bottles light up in sequence. No mirrored ball needed. Bartesian makes the pods and the company has dozens of varieties. They average about $3 when bought in packs. Black + Decker Bev is expected out in May. MSRP: $299

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse.
This is the last week in January that Dick’s Gadget Warehouse is going to be a bit different.
We’re showing videos of gadgets either I or Chad, or the two of us recorded videos about at CES shows in past years. Then we do a Google search and see if what we can find out about that gadget. Is it still for sale? Did it ever go on sale. Is the company still around? We expected that this would be quite interesting and it is!
On this week’s show we go back to CES 2018, 4 years ago, and look at a new version of the “old 8mm Kodak film camera” said to be ‘not out yet, but will be by summer 2018. Did it come out? Will people buy a $2,000 film camera, or maybe it’s $3,000 as I was also told it might cost? PLUS pay $100 per 4 minute film cassette, even if it includes film processing and a digital DVD. After we show the old CES video, we go looking for the Kodak 8mm camera online and see where and if it’s available today. You’ll see the results on this week’s show.
