To celebrate the start of year 17, we can use these Two Fun Gadgets From Fred!
Genuine Fred Office Party Stapler-Style Corkscrew
A tool for the well-supplied office! Corkscrew, bottle opener, and foil cutter disguised as a stapler. Looks real – fool your boss! Measures 5 x 1.5 x 1.25 inches. There were only 26 ratings, but it got a very nice 4.6 out of 5 stars. Dennis & I thought it was very clever too, and useful if you’re having an office party and need bar tools ‘in secret’. On this week’s show I tell a story about a surprise party at MAD where they could have used one of these! Also you’ll see just how clever it is in my video demo.
Genuine Fred Shine + Dine Oversized Diamond Ring Handbag Hook with LED Light.
This dazzling handbag hook comes in handy not only to keep your purse off the ground but helps you see when digging around for your lipstick or reading a menu in a dark restaurant. The ring opens to act as a bag hook that can rest at the edge of restaurant tables, bar tops and more; fits most ledges and handbags. The ‘stone’ is an ultra-bright LED that works off of (2) included, replaceable button-cell batteries. Be aware that it does open easily, so if buy one, be sure to carry inside something rather than hang it on the outside of pocketbook, backpack, etc.

A Chad Extra!
Chad gets a lot of mail and finds this gadget is a big help. First a little bit of info from the company: The Martin Yale 1624 is a light weight hand-held machine that opens an envelope in seconds. Premium features include instant power when document is inserted to conserve batteries, guarded blades to prevent accidental injury and ergonomic design for hand comfort. Requires four AA batteries. $26.84 (It did well in the ratings too. 4.4 stars from 644 reviews. Both price and rating as of 2/25/22)
And Chad’s take: Chad LOVES this! He said he uses a lot, pretty much every day. Watch this week’s show to see it in action. If I opened junk mail, I’d buy one right away.

Light Up A Rainy Night With The Color Changing LED Umbrella!
I love my LED Umbrella. It lights up with multiple radiant colors. You can let it cycle through all the colors, or set to stay on one color. You do that with a press of one of two power buttons. One lights up the acrylic shaft with a radiant red, green, blue, orange, purple, pink or sky blue. It’s not automatic, you slide the middle section up and down to open/close umbrella. In addition to the color handle, there’s a built-in flashlight facing down, in the umbrella handle. It requires 3 x AAA batteries (not included). Love that the description says: “WATERPROOF – Created especially for rainy nights.” DIMENSIONS – 46-inch canopy with a 41-inch umbrella span, 32-inch shaft length. I got mine at Until Gone. You can check the link below to see if they still have them. But in groups of 3, they were a touch cheaper on Amazon.

Until Gone $12.99 – red only – free shipping at $25.00 or $5 shipping https://untilgone.com/products/led-flashlight-umbrella.html (Could be gone, but were available 2/26/22 – 4P)
These look the same: 3/ $35.99 Amazon: https://amzn.to/3JTub6g (that would be about $12.00 each.)
Only 28 reviews, which were excellent, but compliant that color choices seem to be random & some did not get the clear umbrella as pictured.

Chad’s Crappy Corner and his final gadgets for his February Cheap Gadget Theme!
From the company: It’s NEW, it’s beyond $5 and still waaay below the rest! (but blink, and it’s gone!) Get serious relief with the titan™ super massager set! this powerful massage gun comes with 6 attachments for every type of need & a carrying case. this massager can travel with you like a pro (for an amateur price!) An all-body muscle massage gun with 3 intensity levels – speeds: 2000-3600 RPM. Kit includes: super massager massage gun, 1 sphere head, 1 rounded head, 1 x-shaped head, 1 convex head, 1 bullet head, 1 u-shaped head, carrying case, micro-USB charging cable, instruction manual
And Chad’s take: As you’ll see in Chad’s video on this week’s show, a $25 super massager is not really a substitute for a heavy-duty one you’ll find in the gym, or for sale online. For some reason they are very expensive to buy, but after you watch Chad’s demo, you’ll see why $25 may be too low a price to pay even though you get a great case a lot of attachments.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
Hello Dick and Chad,
Here is my first Gadget Warehouse video.
This is my gadget for warming hot dogs and buns. I saw your reviews of the “Nostalgia Retro Pop-up Hot Dog Toaster” (episodes 1376 and 1738) and I knew I had something better:

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Email of the week!
Hi Dick
I don’t know if this actually qualifies as a gadget, but it is a lot of fun, especially if you love radio like I do.
There is an app called Radio Garden which, when you open it up, “seeds” a globe with thousands of green dots. Each dot represents a radio station, and when you move your cursor over the dot, the station starts to play. You can spin the globe and select stations from anywhere in the world…it’s amazing to listen to stations, for example, in the outer reaches of Alaska, or on remote pacific islands, or to relive past memories by listening to stations broadcasting from places you have visited. If you zoom in completely, you even get a true aerial view of the location. You can also type in a location and the globe spins to that location and shows the stations there. It’s a lot of fun, and as a side benefit it has made me aware of countries I did not even know existed!
Love your show, keep well! Gary Spadoni
(From The Giz Wiz. You try it yourself by just typing ‘RadioGarden’ in Google.)
