How Well Does It Suck? Meet The Odistar Rechargeable Mini Vacuum
Info from Amazon: Features a powerful 1600mAh built-in rechargeable battery. Capture nozzle picks up larger debris with ease unlike other manual vacuum cleaner. You can easily cleaning dust of desktop, computer, keyboard, etc. With 1000Pa of suction power, Table Vacuum Cleaner is strong enough to pick up even the largest piles. Yet, it is quiet enough for you to read or sleep while it cleans. Our cordless dust catcher save you from the mess of paper scrap, daily dust, cigarette ash, dog hair or powder on the desk. The table cleaner spins at up to 9000 rpm compared to 6000 rpm of other cleaner. It generates the suction power of a vacuum.
And from the Giz Wiz: Whoa. This sucks in the worst way! Possibly it might work to clean the crumbs off the table, but other than that, I think it’s useless. Watch my demo on this weeks’s show. At least it’s cheap. About $14 for the battery version (uses 2 AA, not included) and about $16.00 for the rechargeable version.

A Chad Extra!
Chad had an extra gadget left over from his February theme: “Cheap versions of expensive gadgets” and it’s pretty interesting. It’s a 9.8” yoga wheel. A similar 10” yoga wheel sells for about $50 online and it seems the prices go up from there. What did Chad pay for his yoga wheel? You’ll have to watch this week’s show to find out. But here’s some info on it. “Grab the series-8 fitness™ yoga wheel & get a deeper stretch plus more workout and massage possibilities! Helps deepen stretches, improve balance & flexibility, massages fascial muscle tissue. Use your yoga wheel for stretching, massaging, balancing, & stabilizing!

(If you think it’s at FiveBelow, so it must be $5, not necessarily. FiveBelow has gadgets up to $25!)

Fosmon Personal Alarm with LED Flashlight & Strobe.
This sounded like an interesting keychain security device, so I ordered one. (Actually, two; they don’t work together, but are sold in a 2 pack.) First, some info via Amazon: Fosmon Personal Alarmfor Women (2-Pack), Self Defense Protection Keychain Safety Sound Siren 125DB with Strobe Light LED Flashlight, Carabiner, SOS Emergency Security Alert Device for Kids Elderly Men. The Fosmon personal alarm is able to emit a 130dB siren sound to ensure you will be heard even at a distance of 600ft/180m. The ear-piercing sound can effectively disorient and scare off attackers, and allow you to seek help from people nearby. The emergency alarm has IPX4 waterproof rating. The LED lighting has two modes: the flashlight mode and strobe light mode.
From The Giz Wiz: I sort of like this device, but worry older folks might have trouble pulling the pin out to sound the alarm. You get two in a pack, and one of the two I got had a really ‘hard-to-pull’ pin on it. You can test it before removing the battery tab (so the alarm doesn’t sound) to see how much pulling power you need to set it off. This would be good practice. The LED flashlight is very bright and includes a strobe function. The reviews are Amazon aren’t great which is another reason I’m ‘middle of the road’ on buying this gadget. I’ll just say, I think it’s better than not carrying any safety device in these troubled times. 2/$15.99 is what I paid on Amazon.

Chad’s Crappy Corner and his brand new March Cheap Gadget Theme, as picked by our loyal Patreons! They picked: “Cheap Time Keeping Gadgets”.
Customizable watering frequency. -Keep track of how long ago you watered your plant -Play alarm sounds to remind you to water your plant -Display LED flashing alarm light -Waterproof (IP65) -display backlight -High, low and silent alarm volumes.
And Chad’s take? Chad liked this device because he said he doesn’t have a green thumb, and doesn’t have a system to remind him to water his indoor plants. Well, now he does. You’ll the demo on this week’s show. It is a basic design, no Bluetooth, WiFi, etc., but Chad thinks it’s all he needs, especially since you can set an audible alarm that incorporates a flashing LED light. And, it’s under $10 on Amazon! (Price as of 3/3/22)

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
Hey Dick-
Buddy Yates from Palm Springs with a DIY project video.
I made this 2.5 minute video for “The Giz Wiz” show back in 2014, “I Invented This” days. I don’t believe you ever used it. That’s perfectly fine cause it’s not really a gadget. Normally, I wouldn’t mention this old video at all but surprisingly it has 28k views. That may not sound like much to you but it is my most watched video.
I thought I would send it in again just in case you were ever in a bind for a warehouse video. For some goofy reason it seems to be growing in popularity.

As always I love your show. -Buddy Yates

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Email of the week!
It’s not from a viewer, but I found it fascinating, and we had a lot of fun having Chad & the chatroom guess at the %’s before I read them out. It was a survey of 1000+ people, but there was no description of where, or when the survey took place. Still, it’s fascinating! Here’s the email:
Good morning Dick
We use passwords for everything, from streaming and social media to banking and work accounts. But with an average of 20 passwords per person, how careful are Americans when it comes to sharing their logins? A new survey revealed 2 in 3 people admit to doing the bare minimum for password security.
95% say they’re comfortable sharing streaming passwords with friends & family
31% say they’ve been hacked, yet half (51%) use roughly the same password for everything
1 in 4 reset their passwords 1 or more times, per month, because they forget.
