Show #1880 Week of April 21st 2022 Independent Show 355
AMAZING!! We’re now in year 17 of The Giz Wiz Show!
(The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you’d like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: http://www.gizwiz.tv/
We’re Off To The NY Auto Show On This Week’s Show! Larry Gerson was on-hand to shoot our videos. For audio we used one of those wireless mics we reviewed a few month ago, with mixed results. It was the first time we ever tried one outside the studio, and in a big space like the Javits Convention Center. It was so-so, but you’ll hear for yourself. The great thing was not having to deal with any mic cables at all.
What Does It Take To Make An Electric Car Run?
If you’ve never seen the frame of an electric car without the body, you will on this week’s show. We found it at the Toyota booth where they were showing the Toyota 2023 bZ4X their first vehicle to utilize the brand-new e-TNGA (Toyota New Global Architecture) platform. Made specifically for Toyota electric vehicles, this structure is to said to allow for more space in the cabin. The Toyota website says an EPA-estimated driving range of up to 252 miles for front-wheel-drive models and up to 228 miles for all-wheel-drive models. Regenerative braking will recapture lost energy while coasting and help slow you down. (And this seems great.) Every 2023 bZ4X comes with one year of complimentary unlimited charging, with over 800 public charging stations currently available. Just set it up through the Toyota app, and take advantage of fast charging stations that are powered by 100% renewable energy. Plus Level 3: DC Fast Charging. Currently only available in public charging stations. Only available for bZ4X at this time. Price? Starting at $42,000, the 2023 bZ4X is currently available in select states only and in extremely limited quantities. Contact your Toyota dealer for availability details.

The Most Unusual Electric Car I Saw At Auto Show!
The INDI One EV claims it’s unlike any other electric vehicle on the planet. Here’s a couple of reasons why, from the company. (Edited for this website.) VR In The Car – We have designed a special proprietary software that perfectly links the motion of the INDI One to the digital motion presented in the VR game. Additionally, these systems effectively eliminate motion sickness in VR users, leading to a comfortable and deeply satisfying gameplay experience. Content Creation – The INDI One is equipped with an array of cameras inside and outside to effortlessly and safely film content on the go. Click And Lock System – The 43 cubic foot trunk space Click and Lock system allows drivers to use 3D printed parts to build out gates, shelves, and more. This allows drivers to transform their trunk space into a workstation, storage, or whatever else they may need.
BE AWARE – they told me at the NY Auto Show that delivery time is 12 to 18 months. When I looked on the company website it seems you can reserve a car “for as little as $100”. That was on 4/14/22.

It’s Not Electric, But You Can Eat, Sleep and Go Places In It Anyway!
Correct, not electric every vehicle at the Auto Show was an electric. Here’s an old-fashioned diesel engine powered Class B Motorhome, the 2022 Grech RV Strada Lounge, via a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis. (From the web) Class B motorhomes are small, streamlined and ready to roll. Nimble and more fuel efficient than Class C motorhomes, Class B motorhomes offer living space best suited for small groups. Most Class B motorhomes do not offer slide outs, yet still offer luxurious amenities like galley kitchens, beds and restrooms. Built on the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 3500XD 170” Extended High Roof with a 6 Cylinder Diesel engine. There are 2 floor plans available, one seats up to 9 people, the other seats up to 7 people, but offers more storage room and even a hanging locker. Both sleep 2 and are based on the 24′ body.
The model in the video is: 2022 Grech RV Strada Lounge – $217,900.

Chad’s Crappy Corner and gadget 3 of his new April Cheap Gadget Theme.
Chad’s third cheap microwave gadget is the Microwave Cool Caddy.
Chad liked Cool Caddy and as you’ll see on this week’s show, it works rather well. It’s a device to let you heat dishes in the microwave, while catching spills and protecting your hands from the heat when you remove them. Also as you’ll see on the show, it become ‘unavailable’ shortly after Chad bought it. But, our chatroom is ever on ball during the show and someone not only found a similar device, but one that does a lot more, and costs a lot less. Chad said he wished he had seen the Microwave Cover with Tray that protects your microwave from splatters and spots before he spent $17 on his. The one listed here (I just ordered one for myself) does the same thing – “The tray has two handles, which can prevent scalding, allowing you to quickly take out the heated food, and keep the microwave clean without washing. But it also comes with a Microwave Cover for Food. Small holes in the top of the lid allow steam to escape, encouraging airflow to prevent condensation buildup. But wait there’s more, it also collapses! Multipurpose Use– Microwave cover set can also be used as a food cover, fruit tray, and a fruit drainer basket. Do NOT wash in the dishwasher. One was under $10 in grey and a set of 2 about $17 as of 4/22/22. The photo is the one I ordered, but it hasn’t arrived yet. Be aware that the price varies by color.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
I wasn’t going to send in anything on my new 3D printer, since it’s more of a Hobby device than just a “plug-N-pray” product. But then you mentioned the new Anker model in the “One Weird Show”.
So, I thought I’d share on my new toy…. I picked up a Creality Ender 3 Pro at MicroCenter for $100, after a 50% off coupon. I’ve always wanted one to make little household accessories that are too pricey in the stores. I now have a knife organizer in my drawer and a couple of Mug Hook strips to keep my mugs by the coffee. The cost of filament and electricity means that the prices for these printouts is measured in Dimes/Quarters. The Mug Hooks were less than a buck to hang 5 mugs. That’s probably WAY more than it costs to make in China, but their real cost is for the labor to box it, move it to a truck, boat, warehouse, Amazon, UPS, and whatever else in between. But now I can make things I could use, (like that bottle mating collar), for less than it costs to pay someone to ring it up at a register.

Love the show, and all the same things everyone else says at the ends of their notes, JoeA
P.S. The cost difference between the Anker and mine essentially reflects the costs of the add-ons people buy over time. For instance, my $200 printer is the same as the $420 version, but it doesn’t have all the extras bolted on. So, I can upgrade this one to the same as the Deluxe version if I want. Whether it’s cheaper to upgrade or buy complete boils down to whether the stuff is on Sale. Or, in my instance, I now have a $40 upgrade on my gift-list for Father’s Day, so it won’t cost me much of my own money, just time!

Someone is the chatroom said the $100 off coupon mentioned in the warehouse video was still online, but it could only be used in the store. I could not find that on the company website. This is the printer in the warehouse video:

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
