I saw Fomalnache from Fom Mania at a press event, but now I get to play with one in my own backyard!
When Fom Mania saw the video Dennis Wunderlin & I shot at the Time To Play Magazine Spring Toy Event they asked if I would like to try a Fömalanche myself. Of course I would! So they sent me one. Fomalanche makes piles of light, airy foam you can run through, toss in the air or decorate things as you’ll see on this week’s show. It’s easy to set-up. You do need to put the 6 D batteries (not included) which requires removing 4 small Philips head screws. Mix one of the bags of foam solution with water and it’s ready to foam! The company says Fömalanche creates enough foam to fill up 5 pick up trucks in 25 minutes. (Pick up trucks also not included!) The Fom is said to be non-toxic and tear free. There’s a big built in handle so you can Fom as you walk. It’s great fun as you’ll see. Package includes 1 Fömalanche machine and Three 3 ounce packets of foam concentrate for hours and hours of fun. Ages 5Y+. You can add in adults too, because I think this is great fun. $39.99.

They’re back & wacky as ever. Wacky Pack Minis.
If you don’t know about Wacky Packages Minis you missed our show about two years ago when we discovered them. Wacky Packs are mini, almost MAD-like reproductions of famous products. For example one of the 3-D packages I open on this show include “Wash ‘N Fly – Little Towels Ghosts Use To Wash Their Sheets”. Yes, it looks like a box of Wash ‘N Dry. Then there was Goonman’s Loony Noodles, Jerky Fruits, Wheez-It, etc. All in mini versions that look like the real products. I remember when they were first introduced about years ago the press release said people are buying cases of them. I have no idea if that’s true or not, but they are fun to open and read. And now with series 3 there are a total of 82 Wacky Packages – yes, ‘collect them all!’ They’re fun and very much like what MAD has been doing for more than 50 years with our ad satires. The 3 pack was about $18.00 on 6/18/22 so $6 a pack.

Chad’s Cheap Gadget Theme For June, picked by our loyal Patreons, is Cheap Summertime Gadgets.
From Amazon: SPOTMYUV is the world’s first clinically proven UV Detection Sticker that gives you a personalized reminder of when it’s time to reapply your sunscreen. Each time you cover your SPOTMYUV sticker with sunscreen, your SPOT will turn clear, showing you that you’re protected from the sun’s harmful UV rays. When your sunscreen wears off, SPOTMYUV turns purple again to remind you to reapply your sunscreen.
And Chad’s take? Chad discovered SPOTMYUV pads on TicToc. Having fair skin and using using SPF 50 sunscreen Chad definitely would want to know he needed to apply more sunscreen. Onn this week’s show you’ll Chad out in the sun, seeing how these work. (Spoiler, he likes them a lot!) There are many buying options. Chad bought the pack of 16 dots for about $16.00, or a buck each. Since one is said to last the entire day, he thought that certainly was worth it.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
Our email of the week is from Steve C who writes:
Hi Dicky De,
I dunno if this is a record or not but I returned 4 large solar panels to Amazon because UPS kept breaking them! The first 2 looked like they just tossed them off the truck into the driveway so I took them back to the nearest store that handles UPS shipments. The 3rd and 4th times I was able to catch them trying to leave broken panels and refused the shipment. I never could find a way to get them from Amazon unbroken by UPS but I found a warehouse that sells them a lot cheaper where I can just drive over and pick them up. There are probably the ones taken off Walmart stores that were catching fire! Smaller things are normally taken to Kohls and they have given me several of those $5.00 discount coupons but I never used them since I never buy anything at Kohls. I haven’t heard about any stores around here selling piles of returned stuff but there is an auction in Phoenix where they auction off larger items at Hibid Auctions. They currently have a new 3D printer for $80.

From the Giz Wiz: The auction for the 3D printer is over, but the company has many auctions all over the US. Here’s their website: www.hibid.com
