Show #1912 Week of December 1st 2022
AMAZING! We’re now in year 17 of The Giz Wiz Show!
(The first Giz Wiz Show – called The Daily Giz Wiz back then – was February 20th 2006!) If it wasn’t for our loyal supporters, the Giz Wiz Show would be gone. If you’d like to support OMGchad & DickDe in our independent venture (we pay for everything ourselves, including travel) just click the Patreon link at the top of our show web page: https://www.gizwiz.tv
Even in the cold outdoors, you can have a mini campfire in your backyard.
It’s called The CAMPLIVINGFIRE portable campfire. It’s 4 inches wide and 2.8 inches high, and weighs only a bit over a pound at 17 ounces. So you can take it camping, picnics, hiking, beaches, RV trips, but I’m thinking outdoor activities, like your backyard. The company says it’s made of Eco-Friendly Material: The main material is soy wax wood wool and recycled paper briquettes, so you don’t have to worry about polluting the environment or being harmful when you use it. And although they say it can be easily lit, I found it took a bit of doing to light. You’ll see all that all on this week’s show. But once it’s light, it’s a great fire. It does give off a lot of heat for its size. Burn time is estimated at 3 to 5 hours. It’s not inexpensive, but this certainly is fun to use for gatherings, or a family outdoor party. MSRP: 2 Pack $32.99

These are cheaper, but smaller versions of canned campfire. I have not tried: https://amzn.to/3gT4k5C
The ZeroDark 360 Flex Electric Plasma Lighter I used in the video now comes up as “unavailable” on Amazon, but here’s the RONXS Lighter Electric Lighter Rechargeable Arc USB Candle Lighter that looks about the same, but adds LEDs to show you the battery charge, and is cheaper than the ZeroDark I bought. It was under $11 on 12/1/22. I have not seen or used this in person, but it got a rating of 4.5 stars out of 5 stars from almost 30,000 reviews!

Here’s a way to have a fire effect along with some refreshing mist!
It’s the Fufeisi 400ML Flame Diffuser Humidifier. It’s clever idea, using LED’s and the mist from the humidifier to make a flame effect. But it doesn’t look like that photoshopped photo. You’ll see the actual effect on this week’s show. Amazon says you can also use it as a Essential Oil Diffuser. It has auto turn off with timer. And it has ta-da! ultrasonic atomization technology, which could increase humidity and improve air quality in your room. Here’s what the company says about it creative design: “The soft warm light of the Flame Air Diffuser makes it looks like a fireplace, but the fine cool mist of the humidifier will makes you feel cold. The difference of visual and sensory will give you a novel experience.” A display screen on the side shows the time and has an alarm, but no there’s no mention of a ‘snooze’ function. The clock is softly lit which is good because it looks like there’s no way to turn it totally off. On the remote the flame has 3 light settings + on/off. You can also set a timer for the humidifier or let it turn off automatically when it runs out of water. I found you need to aim the remote directly at the display on the humidifier to make it work. It holds 400ML, which is about 13.5 oz of water which is almost twice as much as other units I looked at on Amazon. It also has low noise as it works, so that you can use it at night while you sleep. It’s under $30 on Amazon.

Going to have a holiday tree? Here’s colorful LED Tree Topper!
The Yocuby Tree Topper is designed as a really big snowflake. It has what looks like a giant spring on the bottom which you use to slide onto the top of your Christmas tree. It can also be used as a stand for a table, desk, etc. Or the device is also designed to hang on a wall. It has 10 colorful LED lights and you can control them with the remote control which offers 10 modes, plus auto. There’s also a built-in timer which can be set for 4 or 6 hours before shutting off. It’s AC powered and comes with a long cord, about 9’+ which is good if you’re going to use it on a tall tree. It’s IP44 so the company says it can be used indoors or outdoors. I like this a lot.

UPDATE: The exact Tree Topper I bought on Amazon disappeared and was replaced by another one from the company. That’s here: https://amzn.to/3VpJklU —This Yocuby Tree Topper has a projector that projects snowflakes on the ceiling. Looks interesting, but it’s marked ‘indoors’ only. It’s also under $30.
WAIT, THE ORIGINAL CAN STILL BE BOUGHT. After the show, Beckee, a fan in chat found the exact one in the video here on Amazon: https://amzn.to/3UqUDcg It’s a bit more than I paid, but still under $30.00 and Amazon said it will arrive before Christmas if you order it soon.

Chad’s Crappy Corner and his new theme for December!
Our loyal Patreon members have voted and for Chad’s December ‘Cheap Gadget’ them they picked “Handyman Gadgets”.
Chad’s 1st handyman gadget is the LumiTech LED Pole Light. Huh? Actually, this is pretty useful. First a bit of info from Walmart where Chad bought his: Never miss a spot! The Shur-Line Lumi-Tech LED pole light features 8 LED lights for 280 Lumens of light output which provide increased visibility and better results. Light is powered by 4 AAA batteries (not included) for a run time of up to 7 hours. Built with performance and durability in mind, the LED light is surrounded by impact resistant bumpers. Universal threads attach to most extension poles and frames as well as other threaded applicators, making it a convenient multi-purpose tool.
And Chad’s take? Chad likes this, but he was a bit worried that perhaps the plastic socket that the paint brush screws into might break over time if you use a lot of pressure while you paint. But he liked how much light it gives so you can easily see ‘missed’ spots as you paint. It’s inexpensive too. A few cents under $13.00 at Walmart. I saw it also online at Lowes and Target, but I couldn’t find it on Amazon.

This week’s viewer video is from John Stewart. (A different John Stewart than the famous one on TV judging by the voice on the video.)

How To Submit Your Video For The Gadget Warehouse & Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv
