Introduced 9/15/22: Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds II!
(Some info from Bose, edited) These next-generation wireless earbuds are engineered to fit you perfectly. QuietComfort Earbuds II intelligently personalize the noise cancellation and sound performance to your ears, so you can enjoy immersive sound and the world’s best noise cancellation. To ensure your wireless earbuds feel comfortable and stay put, they come with a Bose Fit Kit which includes three pairs of ear tips and three pairs of stability bands are made from soft silicone. Simple touch interface uses simple swipes and taps to play or pause music, set the noise cancellation level and answer calls. Battery life is up to 6 hours. The portable case can recharge the earbuds three times for a total of up to 24 hours of use. The quick-charge option provides up to 2 hours of battery life from a 20-minute charge. The case itself is charged via USB-C. (There is no wireless option.) Bluetooth 5.3. The earbuds keep track of the last seven paired devices to easily swap between them without reconnecting. MSRP: $299.00
From The Giz Wiz: I did get a product sample sent by Bose. The noise cancellation is amazing! You’ll see my reaction the first time I try it on this week’s show. Music reproduction is also the best I’ve heard from earbuds. You have to weigh in the price, $299.00, which places them up there with premium earbuds.

Anker’s New 6-Port Power Strip with ‘Pop-up’ Outlets!
The Anker 727 100 Watt Charging Station is a 6-Port Power Strip with 2 USB-C ports, 2 USB-A ports, and 2 AC outlets allow you to charge 6 devices at the same time. With a maximum output of 100W, charge virtually any device including phones, tablets, and more. A MacBook Pro 16″ can be charged to 50% in 43 minutes. Slim and Space-Saving: At only 0.7 inches thick, the power strip is about the size of an iPhone 13 Pro Max and although Anker says it can fit comfortably in your palm or pocket, it should be a BIG pocket. The unit itself weighed 9.8 oz on my scale, but it also needs the power cable to work, so I’d say it’s more a backpack travel device. ActiveShield 2.0 enhances protection by intelligently monitoring temperature and adjusting power output to safeguard your connected devices. 24-month warranty ($25,000 connected equipment warranty)
And this is an important note from Anker! The Anker 727 is not a wireless pad/portable battery.

We Try The Vitade 1080P 60FPS Webcam w/ Ring Light, Dual Microphone + Remote Control!
From the company: Now you can have a webcam with a built in LED light to take up less space around your computer. A single press of the touch button on the back of the webcam changes the color temperatures. Automatically adjust the contrast and brightness to perfectly fit any environment. And 5X zoom controled with the remote, so even away from the desk you are still in charge. Advanced auto focus make you never have to worry about adjusting the focal length according to Vitade. Built-in dual omni-directional mics with noise cancellation can pick up your voice and filter out background noise automatically. The built-in privacy cover can be open and closed on the camera, or via the remote.
From the Giz Wiz: You’ll see exactly how this Vitade Webcam w/ RC & LED Ring Light works on this week’s show when I switch from my normal camera to this one as we record the show. The picture quality is excellent and the light on the camera works very well. I only used the built-in light and in a darkened room, the video image was fine. The remote control is weird. Why? Because in small print on the really hard-to-understand instruction sheet, it says: “Remote control zoom doesn’t work in 1080P”. What? The webcam is 1080P, so you can use it for zooming! (There’s no info as to how to change the resolution.) Check out this company’s lowered priced unit that is also said to be 1080P. It doesn’t have remote control and the ring light has 3 brightnesses, but it’s a lot cheaper.

Chad’s Crappy Corner and gadget 3 of his new September Cheap Gadget Theme.
Chad’s third left over gadget is the POTATO GUN KIDS TOY PISTOL.
From Amazon: Simply stab the barrel of the gun into a potato of choice, aim, squeeze the trigger and a blast of air propels the vegetative pellet up to 15 meters. Easily-cleaned in water, with a sturdy spring-operated mechanism. Note: Not to be aimed anywhere near the eyes ! We recommend the use of goggles when playing with this toy.
Chad’s take: Chad said he remembered this as being a lot of fun when he was a kid, but maybe not so much now. However, since it just uses a potato for ammunition, there’s no other ammunition to buy since probably every kitchen has a spare potato. There are lot of these potato guns on Amazon and they do warn ‘not to shoot at anyone’s eyes’. They’re very cheap too. I saw 4 for about $15.00 on Amazon which is a bit under $4 each on Amazon. (As of 9/16/22.)

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
Hello Dick & Chad:
It’s been a while since I’ve posted a video, but I recorded this video of a key finder I’ve been considering buying for some time.
(Spoiler alert. Paul bought it and show it off in his video on this week’s show.)
Here’s the link.
From the Giz Wiz:
Esky seems to make different version of the key finder, and there are a lot of similar items over at Amazon: https://amzn.to/3eS2z7f Remember, the unit Paul bought is rechargeable, so it doesn’t require replacement batteries.

Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.
We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.
–
I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.
–
My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.
–
My Favorite Gadget (favorite old, or favorite new): Show us what it is, tell us what it does and why you love, or loved it! It can be a new gadget you just bought too.
–
Post them on YouTube and send us the link! We’ll do the rest. (Or possibly nothing, but that’s unlikely.) Remember, videos should be just 2 to 3 minutes long! Low production value is fine, but we should be able to hear you and see you! If we select and show your video on The Giz Wiz you’ll earn a tiny amount of fame (hopefully). And if you live in the US, you’ll also get an autographed 38+ year old Alfred E. Neuman picture and a MAD surprise (most likely the current issue of MAD.) But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! If you submitting warehouse videos for a second, third time, etc., you’ll get the current issue of MAD as a thank you.
All show submissions go to mail@gizwiz.tv

Our email this week is from from Bruce Hill who emails us:
Subject: Master lock movement locks
On you show where you covered the master lock magnified lock, you briefly mentioned the locks that can be unlocked by moving them up down and side to side.
Be careful buying these locks as they are can be reprogrammed. They all apparently ship with the same code and need to be reprogrammed once you get them.
All you need to reprogram them is a knowledge of the current code.
Well some prankster went to my local rite aid and reprogrammed all the locks on the shelf.
Bruce Hill
(From the Giz Wiz: Maybe see if you can reset the combination before you buy the lock.)
