I never owned a shotgun microphone, so I was excited to learn about the new Comica VM10 PRO Dual-Mode USB Shotgun Microphone. This offered something I always wanted: Real-time Monitoring. That means the camera person can hear the output from the microphone as it’s being recorded. No need worry if background noise is ruining a take. It also has a gain control, and Digital / Analog Output Mode Switch. I also liked that there is no battery needed. The microphone draw power directly from your phone or camera. It also boosts: Super Anti-interference. Built in 100% aluminum material and especially shock mount. The on-camera microphone can strengthen the anti-interference function to reduce the noise from vibrations. BUT, none of that mattered to me. Here’s my experience. When using the USB C cable on the mic to the USB C input on my phone there was terrible distortion that made the video unusable. I give it many tries on two different phones and all the tracks were bad. So I returned it and got a refund. The whole sad story is on this week’s show.

Hi Dick and Chad,

I was trying to find a reusable storage solution for my 3D filament that would allow me to vacuum seal the filament along with some desiccant pouches to keep the moisture out of the filament. I ended up finding this kit at Amazon. The kit comes with a pump that you use to suck the air out of the bags at the blue circle. This kit comes with two size bags, one for the regular sized filament rolls and a smaller bag for the smaller rolls. They also have a double zippered seal at the opening and are very well designed and they work great. I know Chad dabbles with 3D printing and might be able to use these too. Dick’s Gadget Warehouse & How To Submit Your Video To Win An Autographed Copy of MAD Magazine.

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.

But no matter where you live outside of US, I can autograph an Alfred E. Neuman photo to you, scan it & email you a high res copy if we show your video. Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific! Hi guys

In regards to episode 1903, I just wanted to answer a question regarding Amazon returns with missing , original box, & in my case, sometimes missing pieces / parts. I have returned a handful of items, to Amazon , without the original box / packaging, & maybe two times, with missing parts.

I did not hear anything from them for months, but one day, I did receive the nicest, strongly worded email, from Amazon , regarding those returns with missing boxes / parts, & they frowned upon the returns, but said something like, if you find it difficult to return the items with all its parts or missing boxes / packaging, to please not hesitate to call Amazon customer service.

They were so nice , that I now try my best to keep track of all parts & packaging. I felt sooooo bad after the email they sent me.
