Hate The End of Daylight Savings Time?

Here’s Inexpensive Help for those dreading the end of Daylight Savings Time!

I’m one of those people affected by SAD, Seasonal Affective Disorder, or as I call it, Sad And Depressed with the shorter hours of light. I found a wonderful solution at Five Below, the store where a lot of the gadgets are roughly $5. Just from looking at the picture on the box, I bought the Sunset Projection Lamp. It was $5.55. Here’s the Five Below description:

“Give your room a cool glow! This lamp projects an orange sunset onto your wall for cool lighting & room decor. Perfect for a bedroom, dorm, gaming battlestation, or lounge spot!”

I love this lamp & have it on for many hours a day. It’s USB powered (for indoor use only) so you can plug it into a computer, an external battery charger, or use it with a USB to AC plug converter. Only the USB cable is provided, but it’s long & has the on/off switch. But still, for $5.55, I think this is great!

You probably never heard the HUABEI name before. I know I haven’t, but it was the photo of their Retro Wall Clock that made me buy it. First their description: Classic round shape, shabby chic style. Copper set clock needle, no frame design and the dial do not fade and waterproof! (I can’t figure how waterproof it is when the description also includes:) “Material: Wooden MDF, wood particle board painted, covered by paper drawing. And the clock only have hour and minute hand, no second hand, more silent. Use super silent quartz movement, no annoying noise. Powered by one AA battery, ordinary Carbon Zinc battery, not Alkaline battery (not included in the package).” Well from a distance it looks pretty decent, but up close it looks pretty cheap, and it weighs probably just a few ounces. But so far it keeps okay time. Under $17 as of 11/10/22.

As you’ll see on this week’s show, this fan looks exactly like another LED lantern we did in the past. That lantern turned with a bright white light when pull it open. Close it, and open it again and it appeared to be a mini LED fireplace. When the one I bought at Five Below opens it also has a bright white LED light, but no faux fire feature. However, it does have a built in mini fan. Stand the fan up and it works independently from the light with its own on/switch. It would be great for camping, or anywhere in the outdoors. It was just $5 and that included the 3 AA batteries.

LED / Flame Lantern I also showed. This is the lantern that is a bright white LED when you 1st open it, and then a faux fire LED light after you close it and open it again. Chad’s Crappy Corner and his new theme for November as picked by our loyal Patreon friends is Cheap Thrift Store Gadgets!

And Chad’s 3rd Thrift Store gadget is: The Doggie Doo Corgi Game “Unpredictable Action – Feed The Doggie and Collect His Doo to Win.” Sounds a bit gross, but kids will probably love it. It got very high ratings on Amazon and was selling for under $20 on 11/12/22. You see to play it on this week’s show.

And Chad’s take? Chad agreed it was a bit gross, but he paid less than $5 for it at Goodwill. As you’ll see, he couldn’t do a full demo. (Maybe a good thing?) As Chad looked at the instructions he found it was missing parts needed to operate. Still, you’ll get to see what the bag of poop looks like!

We’d love to include your video in an upcoming Giz Wiz Show! Here’s what we’re looking for! Your home shot video – 2 to 3 minutes long, in any of the following categories:
I bought a piece of crap: Did you buy something you ended up hating? We won’t get you a refund, but we might be able to give a platform to vent your disappointment. Remember, “family friendly” language applies.

I invented this! Did you invent something? (Or did a friend or relative invent something.) We can’t market it for you, but we can help get the word out. Show us what it is, and how it works. Even if it’s a prototype, you can get our (and the audience) reactions. No professional ads please.

My Gadget Warehouse: Okay, so you don’t have a warehouse. It doesn’t matter. Just tell us about your favorite old gadget(s). When and where you bought it, and why you’re still hanging on to it.

Just print it out, frame it, or just hang it up and no one will know it’s a copy. We’ve tested it out and fans say they look terrific!
